Manchester United’s 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in their opening game of their pre-season tour of the United States was overshadowed by the losses of new signing Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund to suspected injuries.
Just minutes after giving United an early lead, Hojlund was forced off after taking a seat on the turf. He signalled to the bench that he needed to be withdrawn and he went straight down the tunnel.
Brazil forward Gabriel Jesus then equalised for Arsenal ahead of Leny Yoro being forced off with an injury concern of his own.
The game was paused after 30 minutes for a drinks break and Yoro appeared to be in discomfort during that pause, limping and shaking his head.
He joined Hojlund in returning to the dressing room ahead of schedule. Erik ten Hag made 10 changes at half-time.
Arsenal edged the second half, sealing the win late on thanks to substitute Gabriel Martinelli.
The game ended with a penalty shootout which United won 4-3 with Jadon Sancho converting the winning spot-kick for the Reds.
United’s next pre-season game is against Spanish LaLiga side Real Betis while Arsenal will face Liverpool. Both games will be played on Thursday, August 1.
