Nigeria Starting XI: Oremade; Zulkifilu, Aliyu, Ozornwafor, Utin; Muhammad, Dele-Bashiru, Effiom, Michael; Akor, Offia
EWU Amebo Nwa you dey here again? I thought I sacked you the other day. EWU no dey hear word anyway. Today is my free day how your Aba spare part business?
Hehehehe…who has been behaving like a gutter-bred spare-parts seller’s dog here all these while…?
You thought you sacked me…of course you did…! Cant you see you did…? LMAO.
When you pit a man who is over 30yrs old with a boy who is still in his teens….what do you expect…? Even whilst offia is there to help, we are still being run ragged on that left side.
The last time everyone was singing praise of his name including the keeper but i didn’t want to say anything because i the attacks that will come to be will be a million. Anyway his Godfather is very strong
I have already make my assessment from the first match we play against Gatar, the players will be a good players in future, but the coach tactics is really wrong and baseless. No team in this world with shallow midfield will progress in any competition. No good player in the midfield who will dictate the play and distribute good passes. From the beginning of the match to the end USA team train our players with their quality ball distribution. But our coach only sleep and can’t read a match.Senegal is the best African team in this world cup, so Nigeria sholud get ready to come back home. After Tunde Disu U20 of Nigeria 98 this another woeful team.
Makanjuola who happens to be the one said to cause controversy is the one playing well and the right back making a decent attacking move.

Or even in the Republic of Ireland.
Where did these corrupt men pick these players from? Sambisa forest or Niger republic? because they are not Nigerians!! We don’t play soccer like this ….even ordinary Riverlane F.C will win this zoo People they call Nigerian team!
I don’t know when Nigeria will ever get it right. Imagine going to a world cup with players who doesn’t deserve to be there. No country has ever won the world tournament with average team. Thesame problem of God fathersm has been killing our performance at national level for decades now yet we are not ready to change. Just see how the white men are even including our African brothers and sisters to win major tournaments using merit but the revise is the case in Africa especially Nigeria. Yet we pray for good results while we put the wrong people at the right places.

Na wa o.
1:0 against us
Exactly what I said the USA vs Nigeria game should used to judge this team, but again some players to ve any business in this team.
When I said these men run like headless chicken, una think say I dey kolo
Our team is just average.
USA is killing us here.
The players are trying. They will soon find their feet.
After the match.
Okon is a game changer. Now you will see football.
Take real U20 go dem say no na old men them prefer, keeper lookinglook old like my uncle
Which try? None of the players knows what football is all about bro
Na wa o
This is rubbish! Let’s hope they’ll step up
Our boys can’t even hold the ball and spring passes. Recurrent wrong passes. This shambolic for now. Hope they improve as the game progresses.
Dele Bashiru the talker is off the pitch.
Poor performance.
Yes for the ultimate game changer and match winner Okon
The USA team is more mobile than our boys
This team is full of non-intelligent players. Its lyk Mancity vs Enyimba
Shebi Una dy see am, they are playing just rubbish against a side not so strong. Imagine what will happen if they face a team like Argentina. Pitiful…
If you have mobdro app,go to fox sports 1 and watch it there.
So far so good I think pay for play and a very corrupt system is losing against merit and solid organization
Sure, e dy Don dy show already. Nonsense!!!
Weak men, if not corruption i wonder how these guys can make the team list, their born don stiv ,they are all in there mid 30s, the coach how these man become coach self?
You see what I said. Okon almost scored. Watch out for this boy. He is the ultimate game changer.
The boys are truly playing to their ability.
You can’t give what you don’t have.
I don’t blame them
Let’s encourage them.
Nigeria dont have game plan,US are more skilful and strong more than Nigeria team, under 40 vs under US under 20
Effiong, so close!!! This boys are slowly finding their feet.
Come on Nigeria. Get in there.
Mohammeddddddd, so close….
Nigeria showed too much respect to USA. Started with fear. They are not England. Lol.
Victor Moses:we can score and win.1-0 down.40 minutes played
My guy, well said man…..
Football is not by age but sense, these guys are senseless and useless, old idiots
This is the worst performance from any Nigerian age grade team ever. Even if they manage to turn this around. Its USA we are playing peeps.
Our problem in my own view is the guys learning to position themselves. They are all over the place and thats why the americans are able to penetrate. All the hype about dele, he is no where to be found. And our number 11 is running all over the place, and the captain is a suspect with his running upfront all the time.
The number 11 is tracking back to support his beleaguered defence.
They started slowly but started getting into the match as the game wore on.
That Okon is the real deal. The USA team is there for the taking.
The Nigerian team is horrible, the boys are slow in thought typical of what the modern Nigerian youth have become. Slow thinkers unable to discern what is best for them.
Okon is a good footballer brought calm to the team.
This is the best USA under 20 mens team ever with players from top European teams and 10 major league players. You can tell by their maturity.A very good side.
Apparently,we are going to learn a few things from this game that would make us better going forward.
However,i expect a better performance in the second half hopefully a good winger for Offia. The game is still there for the taking. We finished stronger in the closing stages of the first half hopefully we take it up from there.
I think we need more men in the middle. They are cutting through that midfield like hot knife through butter. If we dont find a way to plug that hole right through the middle we wont escape conceding another goal…unfortunately, right from the AFCON, Aigbogun seems to have only one template…..central defence to fullback, full back to winger…winger and fullback works the byline….one of the two floats ball into the centre….and…..???!
The Americans didn’t even let me finish typing before doing exactly as I feared…!
Aigbogun doesn’t have a clue.
Who says the real U20 can’t win the world cup? Bribe killing our nation
This is what happens when corruption and mediocrity is entrenched in a country. How can Aigbogun tell us that this is the best u-21 players in Nigeria he could get. He didn’t do his job.
I would prefer if they lose this game and get eliminated in the group stages. They do not deserve to go through because it will keep promoting cheating. The successes we have had in age-grade competitions aided by our cheating is the reason for the continued cheating. If they keep losing they will do the right thing.
2:0
Horrible team
They are already two goals down. This is a horrible team. Aigbogun is a disgrace. He came to make money. Prebendalism, the bane of Nigeria.
Still rubbish
Only 27 seconds of restart
Who is the number 9…he looks like 35 year old.
Worst possible start to the second half.
This match is far from over.
Come on Flying Eagles, get in there…..
Ohhhh just wide!!!!!
More of that from Offia.
Weak men, if not corruption i wonder how these guys can make the team list, their born don stiv ,they are all in there mid 30s, the coach how these man become coach self?
Football is not by age but sense, these guys are senseless and useless, old idiots
This is what you get when you don’t groom a proper under 20 from the grassroots but rather want a quick fix. I wish them the best but I fear it might be more than 2-0.
When we raised the alarm bells against Quatar the emergency coaches here called us names and told us we won by 4goals. Anyone with tactical depth would know we didn’t win because we were good we won because of how bad the opposition was. This team lacks a proper bench and there is no clear cut philosophy and by the way some of our boys look too old. It is a coaching problem and it’s that simple
Spot on. Aigbogun is on a cash grab….
Not bad from Valentine. More of that please.
Ahhhh!!!! Adams is on. Okay, this game will now turn on its head.
Common boys, show them soccer
All the media hype about Oforborh, where is he?
Be patient. He will soon come good
This is what you get when you don’t groom a proper under 20 from the grassroots but rather want a quick fix. I wish them the best but I fear it might be more than 2-0. I hope they prove me wrong.
Ahhhhhh!!!!!
Yeehhh!!!!!!!
Chance for Nigeria.
More please. Shame all these lilly livered fans.
We are actually the true fans…dont support mediocrity and prebendalism. It looks like patriotism but it’s not.
Ehen, what did I say, penalty!
Penalty to us
As they are won’t be surprised if the missed it
Penalty….!!!!!
Ewooooo…VAR…bet why….???
No penalty.
Offside
You know when it is not going to be your day!!!
Hopefully these players get contracts and a hand up from the U.S coaches and scouts. Let’s be honest, that’s what they are there for
The US team wasn’t that superb, lost the ball in dangerous positions but our boys couldn’t even take advantage of that.
This is the worse I have seen Nigeria in age grade football, no skill, no flair,no spree and very poor shots. I don’t see them going far to be honest. I hope they improve.
haba refs whats all this, 2 penalties u find excuses not to give
Lol laughing in Chinese, corruption killing this nation as predicted, anyway I’m not surprised after all they voted for a known Fulani jihadist to rule them.See pace see skills see team work, pay for play and corruption can never triumph over merits.Where are the so called patriots now, I think all real patriots should come out and ask this coach the criteria he used in selecting these old men.
Our substitutes are finished
Ehen, that what we are talking about. Success Makanjuola is in. The heavens will come down now.
If we cant score…its best we do not concede. A positive goal difference will be a big advantage going into the last round of matches. Who knows, we might need them when the best loser positions are being allocated.
It is better they come home!!! They wont get far. Let them get their contracts and come home!!
Penal fire no be only penalty.. looking for easy way out so you can continue to overhype this useless team of old men. I feel so ashamed watching them play. The captain is as old as 28 and they can’t even perform…. this is where we are because of corruption and nepotism
Oduduwa you are complaining of tribalism??? Oh please. Is this a joke?
Well, nice try. We are still behind you guys. Truth is, you can’t give what you don’t have. We all aware that the coach is a joke but we are still hoping.
These boys will have to give what they don’t have.
What’s up with these outside shots?
Gather and play strategy
The strategy is kick and follow simple!
Lol…I swear
Our goalkeeper is like 50
Naija how market???
But you where one of those who were hailing him and his Old men wen they put 4 past Qatar…??? How soon have you jumped ship…?!
Never ever give up on America. It is crime here to do so. Refresh on all posts l made not even so long ago.
l only warned folks to be careful when playing against the U.S. A.
l dare anybody to present post contrary to what l said above.
This is my problem with local coaches..At UN 17 level its more technical than tactical so local coaches win it..UN 20 are professioners and more tactical and our bench is trash..Could someone please tell me what pattern they are playing? For US the ball does the running while for nigeria its all players running with poor decision making..No team build up play just carry the ball run and shot from any angle..The coach cannot even change the shape of the midfield even when we are not winnning d battle there..i trust he is praying for GOD to intervene ..
Believe me…even if this game continues for another 2 hrs….we still wouldn’t score…!
We had 2 different center forwards in this game, yet none of them could must 1 single shot between them…..pls dont blame the players…blame the coach. Technically and Tactically…the Americans were miles ahead.
Fear dey catch me no be small….because even the Ukrainians we are meeting next are even more tactical than technical
Let me start by apologising to my fellow Forumites here who were warning me about this team, I was carried away with their 4-0 win over Qatar, I thought the team will come good against any opposition but they are not good enough. Bunch of old men parading themselves as u20!!!!!!
worst under 20 team ever fielded by Nigeria. no game plan no sound coach.
This is the worst Nigerian team on any lebel, no ability to hold the ball and make passes. No positional sense and play ,everybody just running. The US deserved victory

For me….all i’m looking for are players that are good enough to step up the ladder to the SE in time for 2022. For now, only the 3 usual suspects have shown enough class….Oremade, Ozonwafor and Utin. Just like the U20 AFCON squad, we still really dont have that bunch of naturally skillful/gifted/talented players. Players with x-factor at this level….like emma amuneke and austin okocha of the 91 squad, james obiorah of the 95 squad, or pius ikedia and julius aghahowa of the 99 squad or obasi ogbuke and obi mikel of the 2005 squad.

Yea @ Darey, I did notice him. Quality player he is….but only for that age grade though. He still needs to mature in that no 10 role, if he can do that quick enough to gate crash the 2022 party is what we cant tell at the moment, but i fancy the U23s as his next step up the ladder for now, and not the SE. I think he should quit man city for a club in the 1st division of a decent club in a decent league, holland, belgium or france, or even a mid-table laliga team, where he can get regular football and hone his skills better.
Given the buzz that has been about him before yesterday’s match i did expect much more from him, though he wasnt bad in anyway, just like the entire performance of the team, but i believe a more technically gifted and tactically astute team would have given us a proper basis to assess the FE, individually and collectively.
The Qataris were a huge disappointment. They just didnt offer much of a competition on the day.
.
.
Those were my comments after the Qatar game……does anyone still want to argue against these motions….?
Like I said before….we have watched this movie over and over again…and we know where it will end.
Modern day football is more of brains than brawn.
The words of the elders even if they do not come to pass at dawn, will surely do so at dusk…!
Enjoy the rest of your day (or night as the case may be) fellas…!!!
Put the blame on Aigbogun. He went to Poland with an inept bunch of players hoping he can manipulate and deceive everybody all the time.
Would this bunch of players get pass the Ukrainians ? Please.
If anyone ever thought these bunch of players, with Aigbogun managing, will go further than three matches, that person was living in a coco land.
The goalkeeper who is close to 50 years can’t even make good saves, one wonders when he will improve. Why is it that difficult for us to produce a good goalkeeper? I’m amazed!!!
Never knew what happened to the team between Friday and Today. The team spirit was so dampened and they started the game on a poor note which led to there fall in the game. Poor Start! in both halfs.
Coach Aigbogun did well with his timely substitutions but I don’t know, the boys were not just putting their heads together. They didn’t make don’t runs down the wings as they did in the last match and the midfield not until Okon came on was nothing to write about.
I hope Coach Aigbogun notes all this prior to there next meeting with a tough Ukraine side. I wish them all the best.
#Fly high FLYING EAGLES
Aigbogun was simply out-coached today. The boys aren’t doing badly, but the tactics of the coach is really suspect. I don’t know why he took off Kingsley Michael. Well it’s still early let’s see how they respond in the next game. Senegal seems to be the hope of Africa in this tournament.
After Tunde Disu U20 of Nigeria 99 this another woeful team.
Tribalisim, bribe, over age, lack of game plan killed 9ja team. how can a coach take bribe before he chose players? so poor man pikin cant be selected? Nigeria Ronaldo and Messi will be discover from poor families who dosent have help or bribe any coach. look at our under 40 vs America real under 20.
After the first match against Qatar, majority of the people on this forum allowed the 4 – 0 scoreline against Qatar to cloud their sense of judgement. Some even called people who dared to be objective and pointed out the glaring inadequacies of the team and Aigbogun as enemy of the Flying Eagles. They even went as far as saying that these critical analysts were praying for the team to fail.
When you base your team selection on corruption, bias, “egunje”, and “man-know-man,” it is this type of shameful performance you get. Apart from selecting 100% overage players to Poland, Aigbogun DOES NOT HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO COACH ANY NIGERIAN TEAM.
You wonder why no Nigerian team is able to win the CAF champions league? The display of the Flying Eagles today is one of the reasons. The coaches of our local teams are technically inept, corruption will not allow them to see road, and the Nigerian factor of taking excellence and objectivity to the slaughter slab in place of mediocrity and quota system are some other reasons why Nigeria continue to fail woefully in major competitions.
In a sane environment, after the qualifiers for Poland 2019, an Aigbogun as the coach of the Flying Eagles would have been shown the exit door. But nay, in Nigeria, such an action will never be taken. After filling the Flying Eagles with overage players, Aigbogun’s team could only manage to get to Poland and the team did so by playing kick and pursue or what you call “police football.”
Against USA today, Aigbogun had no answer to the game plan of the US team. All he could do was to tell his players to continue to play kick and pursue. “Just go there and use your share energy.” We all saw what mental strength can do to physical energy. Instead of clipping the wings of the USA team, he continued to allow his players to play energy football. “Just kick the ball forward and run.” All to no avail.
Well, I do not blame Aigbogun, it is the NFF people that gave him to Nigerians as coach that I blame. Let them continue to celebrate mediocrity. We shall see where it will take them.
Come to think of it, how did Utin (the captain of this overage team) and Ozormworfor managed to get a call up to the Super Eagles? So Rohur can give a call up to these two players who could not hold their own against their vividly juniors (the USA attackers – Soto and Weah) today. Shouldn’t we be also concerned about the selection criteria of coach Rohur too?
If you go to numerous playing field in Agege, Surulere, and many other places just in Lagos alone, you will see real under 20 players, not to talk of scouting the whole of Nigeria. Players who eat and drink football on the streets of Lagos and other states of Nigeria will not give you this shameful display. I rest my case.
Bros. It’s not about being clouded by the score line against Qatar. We lost to a very talented well organized US U20 team. The coach was duly out coached today. However, historically FlyingEagles have always struggled in the second group games at the FIFA U20 WorldCup. Therefore, I won’t rule them out yet. In 1989 we lost our second game to Portugal, qualified for the knockout stage with only 4 points and went all the way to the final. In 2005 we lost our second game against Korea, qualified with only four points again and made it all the way to the final.
You said no Nigerian team has ever won the CAF Champions league. Bros Enyimba won it back to back in 2004 and 2005. Most of the US players plays for top feeders teams in Europe’s top five leagues and some are even getting minutes for their first team. I think our problem remains the structure of our league. For me this should be a wake up for this team and it’s not all over yet.
You need to read my comment again. I did not say “no Nigerian team has ever won the CAF champions league. I said no Nigerian team has been able to win the CAF champions league. Of course I know that Eyimba has won the CAF champions league and I know that decades past, BCC Lions, Rangers and IICC have done us proud in Africa. Ask yourself, how many times has a Nigerian team reached the semi final of the CAF champions league in the past 10 years or even win it. What is the state of Nigeria’s local league? If we struggle in African’s club competitions and NFF pick these coaches to coach our national team and the coaches on their part pick players who have probably been playing local leagues for more than 2 to 5 years to play age grade competitions, what do you expect. To magically win iin Africa or in the world?
In your other posts you talked about we only getting 2 or 3 players from our age grade teams to progress to the National team as the norm and in your words, “an achievement if we get Okon or Michael to get into the national team. Maybe you forgot or never heard of the names: Siasia, Mike Anonobi, Monday Odiaka, Humphrey Edebor, Andrew Uwe, Waidi Akanni, Yisa Shofoluwe. Austin Igbinabaro, Lucky Agbonsibafe, Mike Odu, Ndubisi Okosieme, Tarila Okorowanta and so many other players. These are players from the 1983 and 1985 Flying Eagles. All of them went on to play for the super eagles and for many years for that matter. They were household names during their time and you cannot deny it. These were the era when we picked players on merit and a whole set of Flying eagles could just graduate to the green eagles on account of their performance on the field of play.
In those days, a player like Samson Siasia was flown specifically to Mexico to join the Flying Eagles then. For your information, he played in 2 sets of Flying Eagles (1983 and 1985) because he was good and young. Those were the days when players from Igbobi College, St. Finbers, and other prominent school made it to the junior and senior national teams on merit. Am I even going to talk about how Nigerians raised concern when Etim Essien was shot by thieves before Chile 85 competition? We nolonger get a whole set of Flying Eagles graduate to the super eagles today because the players are hardly selected on merit.
What we have today is nothing but pay to play and who you know. You think that a team that struggled in Africa will suddenly start beating every team on the world stage. Name one player in this Aigbogun’s team who has the skill or quality that can be compared to those that players from 1989, or even the 2005 had.
When you see a footballer you wil know. While the USA players were busy playing with their heads, our team was trying to use share power to out-muscle them. What did we get in the end a 2 nil defeat. There is a reason why mental ability takes a far greater pay check or salary than physical strength. Excellence and objectivity will always overcome bias, nepotism, injustice, and corruption anyday, anytime.
I means to say, “when Etim Essien was shot before before, Chile 1987 competition.”
Here we go again typical Nigerians on display with their sugar coating, hypocrisy, and justifications, this team and their coaching staffs are poor and corrupt period.kingsley Michael and okon are the only two players for the future in this corruptly assembled team.I’m sure all the Tijanis, Mohammeds are imposed on this team. Aigbogun was not out coached , the guy is corrupt bigly just like Donald Trump would say.some local champions would always sees my comments as destructive criticism, u guys should ask Winston Churchill the true meaning of appeasements.we can’t continue like this folks this country is degreasing so fast.whats Aigbogun pedigrees before appointing this man as our youth team coach? The likes of finidi George would do a better job all day.
Here we go again with tribalism. Historically Nigeria have only been able to two or three players from various U20 teams in the past. If we can get Okon and Kingsley Michael that’s even a success in itself. It’s the same corrupt Aigbogun who selects Michael and Okon. And I can recall that you said the list was a good list when the corrupt coach released the list.
**Been able to produce**
Ayphilldegreat, bro u know my stand with these Nigerian stuffs I never trust them, I’m giving them chances or I’m hoping they would come through because of u guys, check my last comments after Qatar game,I said the USA game should be used to assess this team. I ve being calling these clueless coach corrupt from day one.
@josh, they would never have answers to your comments, you need to understand mediocrity and hypocrisy runs in most Nigerians DNA.
