Fiorentina have reportedly moved to bring in Emiliano Bigica until the summer after claims that boss Stefano Pioli has resigned. La Viola only confirmed in a statement on Monday that 53-year-old Pioli had the backing of the club, despite a dismal run of just one of their last 11 games, but reports in Italy on Tuesday suggest that he has now departed the club.

And it’s being claimed that current youth team boss, Bigica, who had a spell at Fiorentina in his playing days, will step up to take over. If the reports are correct, his first game in charge would be Sunday’s Serie A visit of Bologna, while the side have a Coppa Italia semi-final second leg at Atalanta to come on April 25 with the tie finely poised at 3-3 from the first game in Florence.
