Former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick believes Finidi George is the right man to lead the Super Eagles.
Finidi is among the coaches jostling for the Super Eagles top position.
The former Ajax winger handled the Super Eagles in the two international friendlies against Black Stars of Ghana and Eagles of Mali last month.
The 52-year-old was one of the assistants to erstwhile handler of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro.
Pinnick, who is a member of the FIFA council stated that Finidi has all the right attributes to lead the Super Eagles.

“Even though Jose Peseiro started slowly, the end justified the reason we brought him, so I don’t have any regrets,” Pinnick told Arise TV.
“Under his internship was a player that was once regarded as one of the best wingers in the world- Finidi George- one of the best wingers at a point- a player that had a formal or informal internship as a player under one of the best coaches in the world Luis Van Gaal- a player that at Real Betis, he was excellent. He(Finidi) was at Ajax, and if you know Ajax, they believe in developmental football, where they teach you how to chest, trap, and play the ball again. So he has those virtues, and my opinion is that we encourage him.
“He played two friendly games, he lost one and made negative history because Mali have not beaten Nigeria in over 40 years, and positive history because Nigeria has not beaten Ghana in over 30 years.
“In my opinion, I’ve seen him, I’ve worked with him, I brought him on when I was president as one of the assistant coaches. He has some virtues that we need as a coach. He has leadership, dexterity, and most importantly, humility.
“There’s no encumbrance, if you wave Finidi round, you will not see any encumbrance around him. There are many information and many things I know.
“So what do we do with someone like Finidi that played under some of the best coaches in the world, that also played at that level, and coached one of our indigenous and one most successful teams in Africa? We build capacity around him.”

This one is still running his mouth??
No be your fault – na EFCC I blame wey no dey do dem work wella – Man like you suppose dey inside now! Yeye dey smell!
Piknik shaaaraap!
NFF SHOULD EMPLOY A COACH THAT IS HIGHLY TECHNICAL & BE RESPECTED BY PLAYERS.
THE REASON WHY SOME EX-PLAYERS AND SOME PRESENT SUPER EAGLE PLAYERS ARE IN SUPPORT OF INDIGENOUS COACH(especially Finidi) IS BECAUSE THAT, IT WILL BE VERY EASY FOR THEM TO PENETRATE IN HIM, CONTROLLING HIM & DICTATING TO HIM WHEN IT COMES TO PLAYERS SELECTION, WHICH IT CANNOT BE POSSIBLE ON FOREIGN COACH. ALSO, IT WILL BE VERY EASY TO DO BUSINESS BY INTRODUCING PLAYERS TO INDIGENOUS COACH AFTER COLLECTING BRIBE FROM SUCH PLAYERS.
** NOTE: We should not be deceiving ourselves in this country because of the way things work for other countries (e.g. Democracy work well in America, S/Africa, Ghana but it doesn’t work well in Nigeria).
THE WAY THINGS WORK FOR COACH H. SHEHATA(EGYPT), COACH ALIOU CISSE(SENEGAL) BY WINNING AFCON FOR THEIR COUNTY (and also qualified for next AFCON easily) MAY NOT WORK IN NIGERIA DUE TO CORRUPTION, IMPROPER PLANNING, LACK OF STRUCTURES, BAD MANAGEMENT.
IN NIGERIA, WE ARE TOO RELIGIONISTIC, REGIONISTIC, TRIBALISTIC & SENTIMENTAL.
EVEN when Keshi won AFCON in 2013, he failed woefully to qualified for next AFCON due to bad management(Pinnick VS Giwa), sentiment, jealous, hatred towards some players (e.g. Yobo, I.K. uche, V.moses).
**** NFF SHOULD GO FOR THE BEST COACH.***
What matters most is to move our football forward & not celebrating FLUKE WINNING again. We struggle/manage to beat CIV by penalty in group stage. But E/guinea beat CIV 4-0 convincingly.
*** KESHI WON AFCON IN 2013, BUT WE CANNOT BOAST OF PLAYERS, THE TEAM FOR THE FUTURE (for instance: Sunday MBA, Uzoenyi, Oshaniwa, Agbim are nowhere to be found in future football). AND NIGERIA FAILED TO QUALIFIED FOR NEXT TWO CONSECUTIVE AFCON.
WHAT A SHAME!!!!
**** WESTERHOF WIN AFCON IN 1994, BUT NIGERIA CAN BOAST OF FUTURE FOOTBALL (for instance: Oliseh, Okocha, Amokachi, Amuneke shine for future football).
WHAT A BRIGHTER FUTURE!!!!!
### NFF SHOULD EMPLOY A GOOD DISCIPLINE, TACTICAL, HIGHLY RESPECTED COACH ###
HE WOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN U-23 TEAM WHEN HE CAME TO COACH LIMELIGHT AND DEVELOP OUR AGE GRADE FOOTBALL AS DUTCH LEAGUE BELIEVE IN YOUTH PLAYERS.
Not surprised, this is coming from another ogogoro master supporting his ogogorp man. A normal human would not make this statement at this point of the process.
Finidi should focus on his Enyimba job ,maybe he should try his luck with the ZCHAN team.
The two matches have really exposed him! national team is bigger than him!!
Yo Larry, yr definitely clueless when it comes to football. So stop chatting crap.
Finidi is the right individual for the job.
Mr. Maju or what is your name? Tell Nigerians how finidi is most qualify for the job. Nonsense
See who is talking!!!
I think Amaju Pinick is right on the choice of Finidi, if indeed the NFF wants a local coach for the SE. Finidi has played top European football where he won the Champions league with Ajax at its peak of glory. He has played in Spain and England so has a lot of experience and cannot be overwhelmed.
Besides he has been with the team for the past 2 years and knows the in and out of the entire squad- so a sgarper learning curve than any outsider.
The fool want to bring in another Olishe
The NFF in all honesty should’ve done away with this issue by now. Now, let me first appreciate Amaju for lending his voice to the position Super Eagles fans are maintaining that Coach Finidi, having done well should continue but on permanent basis. Let’s even say the NFF is to grant Finidi a two year appointment to tinker with the team before the World cup proper. My only fear is that June isn’t far off when we shall be but instead of discussions on how to have Ahmed Musa play assist to Finidi, i mean as an assistant coach. Finidi would need a team of assistants because he did played the so-called friendlies, one against our arch enemy, Ghana and a Malian side buffering to rare its head in African footballer. The fact is that there’s no enough time before the matches in match.
Pinnick knows nothing about football and he wants this present NFF administration to fail like his 2 wasted tenure. Finidi George is an apprentice coach, still learning on the job. He has no EU Coaching license and can’t manage the SE stars.
The NFF needs nothing but a qualified, tactical and disciplined foreign Manager
See this mugu. What concerns a Nigerian coach with an Eu license? This is the problem of fake wannabes who feel they’re forced to remain in Nigeria. Just because Finidi is not from unna tribe.
Your grand papa yansh
Amaju, I no blame you, but EFCC wey allow you de waka and talk. Mumu man
If OKOCHA decided to apply for the job today. these guys will say he has all the attributes to lead the team even though the guy know nothing about coaching.
Irrespective whose tribe is gored, Finidi George is the right man for the job.
What about the one shouting up-and-down that he has submitted his application?
Don’t mind the noise making wannabe. Nigeria resemble Tanzania?
EFCC should be ashamed of not doing their job properly. If EFCC will be honest with their name then Amaju pinnick should be arrested for what he has done in the past.
Finidi is not yet there to manage Super Eagles.
NFF is not serious about world cup and Afcon qulifiers and this may affect Super Eagles to make any meaningful impact when the time comes.
This not hard to do. You have no money to hire a grade A coach then consider Amunike and Jo Bonfere. That is all.
NFF as we all know, trying to manipulate the situation. This is why Nigerians are the enemies of Nigeria. This is why Nigeria as a nation is struggling to move forward. NFF is just wasting time for no reason.
I won’t be surprised if I see Finidi leading the team when the time comes. Fingers crossed. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
picnicking amaju strong opinion was the reason Nigeria did not qualify for the last World Cup, foolishly opinionated! coach rohr wasn’t supposed to get renewed after a failed world Cup campaign but picnicking rewarded failure with contract renewal. and when it was a few days to nation Cup and world Cup qualification against Ghana again this useless amaju pinnick sack rohr at when it was most important to maintain continuity. those were his opinion. amaju should hide in shame after many unsuccessful actions as nff President… if they reject amuneke now, Nigeria should forget yet another world Cup qualification failure… of course it is usually the fault of Nff incompetency from time immemorial…
