Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro may have to take a significant pay cut to remain in charge of the team.
Peseiro’s current contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will run out at the end of this month.
The NFF has struggled to pay his monthly stipends and the Super Eagles have also struggled to make impact under his tutelage.
The former Saudi Arabia and Venezuela Saudi Arabia coach currently earns $70,000 per month.

According to ESPN, Peseiro will be asked to take a huge pay cut to remain on the job.
The Portuguese was appointed in May 2022.
The Super Eagles booked their place at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after recording a 3-2 victory against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone on Sunday.
The team’s next assignment is against Sao Tome and Principe in September.

No problem cutting his Salary and allowing him stay till the end of ANC. If he is getting fired, don’t replace him with any local coach without a job or without a European coaching experience…
Past coaches involved with SE like Eguavoen, Amuneke, and Salisu should never be considered because these ones have been tried and failed to deliver.!
Dere is a difference btw been d headcoach and assistant
Amunike has never been given d chance to lead the team,he was called out to assist eguavoen for a double header against Ghana ,he wasn’t d one calling the shots so I think it will be unfair on his path attaching eguavoen failure to amunike …haven said dt,if we want to go for anoda foreign coach, den enuf of all these PHE journey man coaches we go for,it’s high time we go for a quality world class coach..we can’t keep wasting tax payers money on dese average journeymen coaches.enuf is enuf..if it’s not world class, den it’s better we stick to our local coaches.period
Never retain a worker whose salary is reduced. He could quietly sabotage things. It’s bad enough for NFF to renege on a contract If NFF thinks he’s not done well, pay him off and let him go There must be no repeat of the Rohr saga
Coaches Finidi George and Ndubuisi Egbo are Nigerians who should be given a chance if NFF decides to let Mr. Peseiro go. And Mr. Vincent Enyeama can be brought in as the goalkeeping coach.
It might seem unfair to part ways with a coach that just qualified a team for a major tournament, but truth of the matter is, it happens sometimes. Yes, we lack quality players but there just has not been any discernible improvement since Mr. Peseiro took over the team. To make matters worse, it seems like he is not really in charge. Nigeria needs a coach with some semblance of back-bone.
He perhaps should have been let go a while ago, but it is not too late now. Mexico just fired their national team coach they hired just four months ago. If the NFF continues to procrastinate, there might come a time when it becomes too late to make a change and as a result puts our World Cup qualification chances in jeopardy, yet again.
And you think the aforementioned would stomach the sickening beastly attitude of nff?????? Nff is the major problem.
IF PASEIRO ACCEPT A PAY CUT, THAT MEANS HE, HIMSELF DOESN’T SURE OF HIS COACHING ABILITY. NOT ONLY THAT ONE, DUE TO CORRUPTION,OUR NFF IS NOT TRUST WORTHY WHEN ITS COME TO MONEY. THE MONEY MAY BE PAID WHILE SOMEONE IS DIVERTING IT AND BE SAYING SNAKE/ MONKEY HAS SWALLOWED THE MONEY.
**** BUT TO BE SINCERE WITH OURSELVES, GAMBIA, SENEGAL, MOROCCO, TUNISIA DIDN’T HAVE OIL AS ONE OF THEIR RESOURCES AND THEY ARE PAYING ALMOST TIMES THREE OF WHAT NFF IS PAYING PASEIRO AND STILL(NFF) COMPLAINING THAT THE MONEY IS TOO MUCH.
*** IN THE PRESENT WORLD TODAY, NO AVERAGE STANDARD COACH(Rating: 48%,) WILL EVER ACCEPT $100,000 AS HIS MONTHLY WAGES. ANY COACHES THAT ACCEPT LESS THAN $100,000 IS A FLUKE & HUNGRY COACH.
NFF, STOP DUBIOUS & CORRUPTION ( I know what am saying, Gora-Ericsson, Lagerback, ROHR can confirm this) AND GIVE US STAND COACH IN THE CLASS OF RENARD-HARVAND, R.MARTINEZ,
NIGERIA HAVE OIL-MONEY THAT CAN PAY THEIR WAGES & DELIVER AFCON CUP & SEMIFINAL OF W/CUP BERT FOR US.
Pesiro was never even in charge so why holding on to him.
We need a coach who can stand on his toes and be able to look at nff officials in the face when is necessary.
I can only say that we won the match with God’s help.
God bless Super Eagles of Nigeria.

PASEIRO, WHAT MAKES PEOPLES COMPLAINING ABOUT YOUR COACHING CAPABILITY IN SUPER EAGLE, IS BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT ON TOP OF YOUR JOB. THE PAST COACHES (Westerhoff, Bonfrere, Rohr) NIGERIA EMPLOYED, IS NOT AS IF THAT THEY ACHIEVED SOMETHING GREAT BEFORE BEEN EMPLOYED.
WHEN YOU GOT THIS OFFER LAST YEAR, I ADVICE YOU ABOUT DO & DON’T, IF YOU WANT TO SUCCEED IN SUPER EAGLE. BUT YOU DIDN’T TAKE HEED TO THE ADVICE.
**** THIS IS THE ADVICE ***
MY ADVICE FOR JOSE PASEIRO
@** Work hand to hand with your Technical crews
@** Let the invitation of players base on merit
@** Don’t allow anybody FORCE/IMPOSE any players on you. Instead SCOUT for players & test them in Friendly matches
@** Invite local players that is ready to give foreign professional players a stiff competition(not the one to add to the number/surplus to requirements).
@** Always maintain your stand
@** Don’t allow anybody to be pushing you up and down.
@** Don’t be carried away with the club performance of players ONLY but base on PRESENT FORM & POTENTIAL
@** Do not tolerate INDISCIPLINE in to your team.
#** Do not invite players in order to pacify/please somebody (like local Coach Equavoen)
@** Encourage your players to be STRONG & MORE PHYSICAL when it comes to Africa football
@** Try to take advantage of newly introduced format: FIVE-SUBSTITUTION in a match(approved by CAF & FIFA) as an opportunity to test-run other players and MORE TECHNICAL in it.
@** Emphasize more on WING PLAY pattern for Super eagle.
SO YOU CAN SEE THAT YOU DIDN’T TAKE TO ANY ONE OF THIS ADVICE, AND THAT IS THE REASON WHY YOU ARE INVITING IRRELEVANT PLAYER(Musa), BENCH-WARMER PLAYERS (Aribo, Onuachu, Omeruo), INCONSISTENT PLAYERS (Iheanacho, Ndidi) INTO SUPER EAGLE TEAM WHEN WE HAVE TOP-FORM PLAYERS LIKE MOFFI, ORBAN, ONYEDIKA, OSIGWE.
THE MOST PAINFUL ONE, CONTINUOUS SNUBBING OF CHUBA AKPOM (the best SUPPORTING (not main) STRIKER). OR WHICH OF THE SUPER EAGLE SUPPORTING STRIKERS IS BETTER THAN CHUBA AKPOM (Golden boot winner).
IF YOUR CONTRACT IS NOT EXTENDED AT LAST, YOU ARE THE ONE THAT CAUSED IT
Cutting down his salary doesn’t mean anything to Him rather its the NFF that are ready to take the pain nd another disgrace of not been serious to able to get a good coach that can win and another Afcon tittle to our cabinet… Na the NFF go loose because who though let him stay for free, he the paseiro we gladly take the job because he dey use Our football failures to build His C.V…..
The our NFF should serious at times, pay is pay cut are you guys giving him…. let paseiro go please and bring in gbenga ogunbote and Finidi George to take the team to Afcon and build on from that…
A coach who willing to admit to any pay cut a nation team give him… That coach is absolutely Telling you that… He have nothing to offer…
#tag NFF let paseiro goooooooo
The worst coach in super eagles for a longtime. He just got the job because of his caucasian skin color. He is just rubbish. Nothing to offer. We keep managing rubbish in Nigeria until somethings turns to a beyond repair level. He should be replaced immediately. So many local coaches are better than this joker. Get a young coach like Finidi, Egbo, Emenalo, Oliseh, Amunike, employ an old fox like Troussier, Westerhorf, Allardyce etc to support and guide. Or employ Finidi, Amunike and Egbo as joint coaches with equal powers in the team… But we must get rid of this rubbish immediately.
The anomaly called Nigeria is the problem..
Senegal just thrashed Brazil 4-2…this is the same Senegal who did not fare too well or as expected in their last couple of showings or so- and against much “lesser” opposition than Brazil –
Moral of the story here is that football is never black and white in terms of predictability, people need to temper judgement with common sense (although that has been proven not to be so common at all after all!) and patience in 99.9% of the time, there are also very obvious justifications for this reasoning – how many will I list?
Football is a team game, just because one team has the best player in the world does not guarantee that they will win the game – Scotland vs Norway (case in point)
There are always an array of complex factors (each equally as important as the next) that determine the outcome of a match, I wont go into listing those at this point (because if this is alien to you then there’s no point in listing the reasons as they’ll just go over your head)- Suffice to say that until Nigeria decides to do things the right way, they wont get great results, that’s just the nature of the beast – So jumping to conclusions in football is always a “mug’s game” don’t become another statistic in the long list of Sere’s, let’s stop being piece-meal in our thinking and take a more holistic view of things – our forefathers were the one’s who said –
E se bi won tin se, ko ba le ri bitinri. Simples! Oro po ninu iwe kobo!
Nigeria is an anomaly – this declaration is made with a heavy heart.
We all know how this will end. They will probably let the man go and then come up with this “ Our Local Should be given the job and be supported “ waste couple of years again and then back to the market for another foreign coach. The issue is, what grade a coach will leave Europe and come and work for these clueless management? You are struggling to pay 70k so where will you get the money to pay the grade a coaches you are clamouring for?
