Super Eagles handler Jose Peseiro has been linked with the vacant coaching job of Egyptian giant Zamalek.
Peseiro has been under criticism of late following the Super Eagles’ poor start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
The three-time AFCON champions have only managed two draws from two games in Group C against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
Bafana Bafana of South Africa will take on Rwanda on Tuesday and a win for them will take them four points above the Super Eagles.
The poor start to the campaign have led calls for the Portuguese to be sacked.
There are now unconfirmed reports that Peseiro could replace Juan Carlos Osorio who was sacked by Zamalek.

Reacting to the reports Peseiro in a brief exclusive chat with Al-Watan Sport said: “This is not the appropriate time to talk about all these matters.
“I do not wish to make any comments at the present time, and I refuse to talk about these matters specifically at this time, and I will respond at the time I deem appropriate for that.”
Peseiro is no stranger to Egyptian football after he handled Zamalek rival Al Ahly in the 2015-2016 campaign.
In his only season at Al Ahly, Peseiro led the club to the league title.

Peseiro should go where his salary can be paid.A disgraceful country like Nigeria can only continue to keep him hungry He’s only human.
The fact that Paseiro applied for the Zamalek job while still employed with the NFF shows he’s just a journeyman. If NFF didn’t include a clause stating a penalty for that action in his contract, thereby nullifying a payoff in the event of dismissal as a consequence, then the lawyer who drafted the contract wasn’t very smart.
Also read Phillip Cocu was the best candidate during the interview with Paseiro even terrible with English, but knuckleheads Pinnick and Dare to engage the bottom-placed candidate Paseiro because their god Mourinho recommended him. Common sense should have told them he’ll vouch for his fellow Portuguese.
Same report says 3 candidates have been shortlisted as SE coach, including a foreign-based Niegrian coach (Egbo?) and an African coach that had previously applied for the SE coaching job (Tom Saintlett currently with the Gambia?). The report say NFF is now praying Paseiro gets and accepts the Zamalek job so they can avoid the hefty payout penalty of dismissing him now. What a conundrum!
Peseiro just doesn’t respect Nigeria it’s that simple and that was one of the reasons he totally blacked out on the topic of Vincent Enyeama that he doesn’t know him. Will he make that statement about Oliver Kahn of Germany??? If they won’t sack him the next day for such disrespect!
In an understandable language, NFF should beg Technical Director Augustine Eguaveon to come back and reinvent the Super Eagles squad pending when a substantial coach is employed. The boys are ok but quite sincerely, peisero or whatever his name is should be sacked without much ado.
Ariyo.
Indeed, the NFF is the problem of Nigerian football. Philip Cocu would have done far better this incompetent man.
This news is just made to create new drama and finally switch us away from the madness engulfing our football. If this is true why is NFF not using it to sack him and clean their mouth??? Yeye things!!!!
Beg Coach Eguavoen.
