Nigeria’s head coach, José Santos Peseiro has expressed his admration of the country’s U-17 team, the Golden Eaglets after attending their training session at the NFF/FIFA Goal Project pitch, Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
The Portuguese tactician admitted he was very impressed with the performance of the players, and charged them to keep improving their game as preparations for the Africa U17 Cup of Nations in Algeria hot up.
He also admonished players that would eventually be dropped not to be dejected as that would not be the end of their football career.

“I am impressed with what I have seen with the performance of the players here. Nigeria is known for having very talented players, so I am therefore not surprised with the performance of these players,” Peseiro said.
“You have to keep working hard and keep improving your game. Unfortunately, not all the players here will be selected. You should not give up if you fail to make the final team,” he added.
The Golden Eaglets have been drawn in Group B of the Africa U17 Cup of Nations in Algeria, where the team will trade tackles with Zambia, Morocco and South Africa in the city of Constantine.

Peseiro must have seen Nduka Ugbade’s total football inspired by Manu Garba is former boss. I hope he will take note of these method and try to see players in the super eagles that can deliver this kind of dominant philosophy. Tournament is yet to start but with what I’m hearing from the close sources Nigeria will see another set of world beaters. It’s long we saw great talent due to hiring of wrong grassroot coaches.
One thing I will say about Peseiro is that he seems to be around Nigeria more often than not. Even when outside the country it seems like he’s furthering his work as Nigeria’s head coach. Hopefully this translates to a better understanding of our footballing culture and produces the results we all want to see
But that old PE teacher will be depending on scouts to unearth players for him. His presence alone at there practice session speaks volume. Well i hope all his efforts doesn’t go in vain
Let’s hope unpaid salary does not eventually CURB HIS ENTHUSIASM!
Top points Lord AMO. Although he is yet to get results (in friendlies) Peseiro continues to endear himself to many fans including myself by being on ground and making presence felt among our various age grade national teams. Whether you like him or not, you are least see his face around rather than granting meaningless interviews from his base in Europe.
It has now become a normal sight to see him in NPFL grounds , Under-17 training grounds and the Under-20 facilities. The guy pretty much lives in Nigeria and he now looks like part of the furniture in a positive way.
Hopefully he succeeds with this Super Eagles team.
