Lee Peltier says last Saturday’s dramatic victory at Southampton was just reward for Cardiff City’s recent good run of form. The Bluebirds recorded back-to-back victories for the first time in the Premier League era by getting the better of their relegation rivals at St Mary’s, with Kenneth Zohore’s injury-time winner securing a 2-1 triumph. The three points saw Cardiff leapfrog Southampton out of the relegation zone and they now sit a point clear of the bottom three.

Peltier played a vital role in the win over Southampton, making a double goal-line clearance, and says the recent triumphs against the Saints and Bournemouth have been hard-earned given the recent Emiliano Sala tragedy. “It was a great victory for us on Saturday,” he told the Cardiff website. “We thought we’d been playing well over the past few weeks. “We deserved something out of Arsenal and we’ve gone on from there, especially under the circumstances that we’ve had to deal with. “We’re a very close-knit squad as it is but it’s been really tough. All the boys, and everyone at the club, have found it so sad and we send our condolences to the families.”
