The United States of America got their Group B women’s football event of the Paris Olympics off to a perfect start with a 3-0 win against Zambia on Wednesday.
A brace from Mallory Swanson and Trinity Rodman earned the former Olympic champions the comfortable win.
Rodman gave the US the lead in the 17th minute before Swanson made it 2-0 in the 24th minute.
Just one minute later Swanson got her second to put her team 3-0 ahead.
Things went from bad to worse for the Zambians as Pauline Zulu was shown a straight red card on 30 minutes.
In Group B other game Germany recorded the same scoreline like the US as they also spanked Australia 3-0.
Meanwhile Africa’s other representative Nigeria’s Super Falcons lost 1-0 to Brazil.
