Japan recorded a 5-0 win against Paraguay in their opening Group D game, in the men’s football event of the Paris Olympics on Friday.
Paraguay had to play most part of the game with 10 men after Wilder Viera was shown a straight red card.
Japan took the lead in the 19th minute thanks to Shunsuke Mito and just six minutes after the opening goal Viera was sent off.
In the 63rd minute Mito got his second goal to make it 2-0 while Rihito Yamamoto got the third on 69 minutes.
Then a brace from Shota Fujio in the 82nd and 87th minutes sealed the comfortable win for Japan.
