Tobi Amusan has been named as Nigeria’s flag bearer for the opening ceremony of Paris 2024 Olympics.
The Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC) disclosed this.
Amusan will now become the first athlete from Athletics in 20yrs, since Mary Onyali at the Athens 2004 Games, to be a flag bearer.
In another appointment, the NOC also announced Badminton player, Anuoluwapo Opeyori as the General Team captain for Nigeria in Paris.
Team Nigeria would be making its 18th appearance at the Olympics since debuting in Helsinki 1952.
Nigerian athletes have won a total of 27 medals, which comprise three gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze medals.
At the the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Blessing Oborodudu and Ese Brume won silver and bronze in wrestling and long jump respectively.
