D’Tigress head coach Rena Wakama has said her players were highly motivated to beat Canada after the disappointment of their previous clash against France.
Wakama’s girls succumbed to a 75-54 defeat to hosts France casting doubt on their chances of progressing into the knockout round of the women’s basketball event at the 2024 Olympic Games.
D’Tigress caught the eye after a stunning 75-62 victory in their first game against world number three Canada.
The young tactician was visibly angry with the team’s performance against France.

She admitted that they have used that experience to unite and get back on track.
D’Tigress defeated Canada 79-70, making history as the first African team to qualify for the quarter-finals at the Olympics.
“When we are focused on something and when we all come together, we are powerful. Our whole team, support staff, and coaches, we have the same mindset – a winning mindset,”Wakama was quoted by FIBA.com.
“I am glad we did have that loss because we were able to get back to what we do best. Also there’s no pressure now on us and we have shown everyone that we deserve to be playing here.”
