Banyana Banyana star, Thembi Kgatlana has boasted that the team has what it takes to dent Super Falcons’ hope of playing at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Recall that Nigeria defeated South Africa 1-0 in the first leg at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja last week Friday.
With both teams set to clash in the second leg today, Kgatlana told SABC News that the Super Falcons are not a team that plays the ball but wants to run behind opponent.

She believes the team will take advantage of their home supporters in a bid to overcome Nigeria.
“The fact that they didn’t cut the grass and they know that we’re a team that moves the ball,” Kgatlana said to SABC News.
“That’s why I said in an earlier question that when we get home with better facilities, we know that the pitch will favour us, the same way the pitch favoured them.
“They are not a team that plays the ball, they are a team that wants to run behind and that’s exactly what they do.
“You drop the ball, it doesn’t bounce, it just lands on top so that’s what they want to do and I think it worked for them but we also have an advantage when we go home to play wit better facilities.”

I know that part of what you will do is to threat the referee to do your bidding. But you will all fail.
The whole world is watching.
God pass you all
Nigeria is already blessed.
This girl didn’t know that Abuja field also worked against our girls. Super Falcons players play with world class facilities in their respective clubs. So playing in better facility is added advantage to Super Falcons.
The first leg that was played in Abuja stadium is not to work against South Africa. It a foolish decision from NFF officials. Nigeria get better facilities in Uyo and PHC.
Super Falcons will silence South Africa tonight by God’s grace.
Watching SABC they said they took the game to Pretoria because it will sway foreign fans away and make SF feel more away. But I’m believing that Nigerian local fans will still show up. NFF should have campaigned more and appealed to Nigerians in SA to make the trip and reduce the vuvuzela distractions.
Don’t worry @Chima E Samuels, my friend in SA told me that a suburb in Pretoria called Sunnyside is filled with Nigerians. And Johannesburg which is home to Nigerians is only 30 mins drive away so no qualms, 9ja guys will fill up the stadium later today
We pray!
@Godsate you are saying Nigeria is blessed..Nawaoo
If I was Nigeria NFF I would be ashamed of myself to hear comments like this coming from other countries. Nigeria can be really shameless sometimes after AFCON just took place with Ivory Coast setting the standards of what Pitches should look like in Africa and west Africa contrary to what People say that pitches green pitches are not condusive to West Africa weather. Yet Nigeria can still shamelessly host a international game in such a pitch? even after all our cries that the Abuja Stadium Pitch is not ready for National football. It is shameful mehn…
I really don’t understand why matches are still played at the sub standard Abuja stadium.
If Super Eagles matches could be diverted to Uyo stadium, why can’t Super Falcons matches be diverted as well? Or is that the dumb heads at the NFF don’t know what to do?
Wishing SF the very best today and for each goal they score I will be donating $2000. Management should see me at the chambers if my terms are met. @Ugo NFF is the same yesterday today and forever if only you watched Pinnick’s interview at arise you’ll understand this phrase. Make we sha win today because I’m not good at loosing!!!
The universe, nature to its fullest, and elements of the space no one can’t understand favor the Super Falcons whether there is a Pitch or no pitch.
Sport lovers, keep s date today, this evening for celebration.
This Thembi of a girl talks so arrogantly, you would have thought it was SA that has won 11 WAFCON’s and not Nigeria . Look at how she flippantly described Nigerian pattern of play. Have SA ever given Africa any worthy representation at any Global tournament??? I am still wondering how they got this fake superiority claims over the Falcons, They seems to be overconfident that they will upturn the deficit and go Tru. I will be really crazy if the Super Falcons doesn’t beat them in Pretoria today. Personally I won’t be satisfied with a draw even if it would be enough to take us to the Olympics.
South Africa is just what it is – all noise and nothing concrete to really show.
1. The male team have really struggled to deliver over the years. They won afcon because the Nigerian president Abacha acted foolishly. That decision still hurt me today. You need to see the players in camp at that time. That afcon was there for the taking. Now we are struggling with just 3 Afcons.
2. The female team has not really done anything worthy on the continent. Yet they make foolish noise.
3. Even generally, what have they really achieved uniquely on the continent. The only thing they had is Mandela.
We will beat them today in Pretoria. I am sure of that
Stupid Abacha with his oversized. Simply cos Mandela criticized him, he withdrew the team and players who had no business with their personal beef. They tried to convince the players by citing security concerns. We could have easily got the third Afcon as of then and then a total of 4 today.
CAF went on to ban us for another edition, and we got the final the very next one we participated in as co-host too – 2000. The team was so ripe in 1996 (after winning the 1994 Afcon and coming from an impressive WC debut in 1994) that they won the Olympic ticket that year (thankfully, the IOC didn’t ban us).
That year 1996, SA simply strolled to the final and all so-called continental heavyweights were falling like pack of cards that I thought there was high-level match-fixing to honor the iconic Mandela.
Ehhh please stop calling Sani Abacha stipid or do you want him to stop sending Nigeria credit alerts of millions of dollars from the grave?….lol
Nigeria was Banned from CAF competitions at the time because of the dubious activities of Abacha and namely his Ordering of the gruesome murder of Ken Saro-wiwa had nothing to do with Abacha ordering us not to participate even if he wanted his criminal act against oga Saro-Wiwa was the reason
Lol, Ugo. You sha.
Now, listen. Yes, Saro Wiwa was executed by the Abacha government, but CAF is not AU or a political organization to babble into a country’s internal affairs.
Abacha ordered the withdrawal of the SE. F-A-C-T. Now, you can go ahead and Google it. In response, CAF imposed a 4-year ban on Nigeria for failing to define its crown. This was later reduced to 2 years.
Do you have time to respond to that drug addict who was still learning nursery rhymes in 1996…???
What the heck has CAF got to do with Saro Wiwa for jinkies’ sake….LMAooo
@Dr. Fraud and @Ken
to you Dr Drey I don’thave your time you are a fool. and a little Keyboard warrior who like I said once If I ever meet you in Ajegunle I will round up all the Area boys there and linch you fool
At @Kel you are actually right My Bad.. As for you Dr Fraud
Shameless street dog. Quit drugs and get psychiatric rehabilitation before it is too late
Get ur fact right Ugo, abacha withdrew nigeria supers eagles from the competition, as result CAF hammered us
South Africa 1 – 1 Nigeria
Christian Ministries and Kel, that decision by Abacha cost us at least 2 Afcons, in my opinion. At that time, Nigeria was the powerhouse of African football. That fact is proved by the gold medal we won in 1996! If we had gone to the 1996 Afcon, we would have won it. SA had a good team then. The likes of Neil Tovey, Philemon Masinga, John Shoes Mosheu, etc were all at their peak. But, they were no match for Nigeria. Anytime we met them back then, na wotowoto. Dem dey always collect. The one time they drew with us was when they hosted us in a world cup qualifier in 1993 or thereabouts, and even then, they only survived because Yekini’s goal was wrongly ruled offside. How can you be offside when you intercept a back pass to the goalie?
So, we had the strongest squad in the continent by far. And the NFA then was not as corrupt as what we have now. We won it in 1994, we would have won it in 1996, won it again in 1998, and we would have carried that momentum into the 2000 Afcon.
But alas, because of the ego of one man, it was not to be!
Pompeii. You really made me remember all that. I concur. We lost both 1996 and 1998.
The match is still on, 0-0 Half time.
Congratulations Nigeria
That Chiamaka Nnadozie is a player. Her positioning is top notch and the confidence she exudes just permeates through the entire defence. She’s a gem and should be appreciated
Where are all the noise makers berating the NFF for taking the game to Abuja, so what happened at Pretoria stadium. Shiooor, all the noise about the stadium would be filled, this and that, nothing different with what you all saw in Abuja.
Boring game, Don’t know why they gave us a spot self
Congratulations to the SuperFalcons. Coach Randy Waldrum said he believes he has another golden generation of SuperFalcons at his disposal. Who fancy football help? We need results and he’s getting it. Qualified for the AFCON, qualified for the WorldCup and now finally qualified for the Olympics since 2008 Nigeria last participated. Now let’s go make memories in Paris. We still have to reclaim our title from South Africa when we get back from the Olympics. Well done ladies.
Na so we take chop banana banana. Banana dey sweet with better ground nut.
We don chop dis banana, we go chop the next one when we meet their men later.
Congrats Waldrum and the team.
Big shame on NFF ONIGBESE.
We move!
