Michael Olise has been included in France’s provisional squad for the football event of the Paris 2024 Olympic games.
Olise was picked by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry alongside his Crystal Palace teammate Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Mateta would be one of three overage players in Henry’s squad.
Former Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette, 33, has been named as another of the over-aged players.
Chelsea were reportedly unwilling to let Gusto or Benoit Badiashile leave for the Olympics, with new manager Enzo Maresca coming in, but midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu has been selected.
Olise has been a regular at under-21 level but is yet to play senior international football despite being eligible to represent France, England, Algeria or Nigeria.
The 22-year-old competed at last summer’s U-21 Euros for France, where he suffered a hamstring tear that saw him miss four months of action.
The Olympic tournament runs from 24 July, with the football final due to take place at the Parc des Princes on 9 August.

So the Olympics is barely in a month and we aren’t hearing any news concerning our super Falcons preparations yet….?!
Gusau’s regime and it’s eleventh hour preparatory system is worrying @Dr.Drey my bro.
Both our flying eagles and most recently golden eaglets respectively were victims of this strange under the wire style of preparations for international tournaments.
The wafu B under20 world cup qualifier is around the corner, yet we’re yet to gather players to prepare adequately because we can’t miss out on both the under20 and 17 world cup in the same year,it’s not good for our development.
GUSAU YOU HAD ONE JOB!
Gusau is proving to be a true disciple of pinnick.
Pinnik believed the super eagles is the sole determinand of re-election for a 2nd term. All the other national teams are a waste of funds. So even if you win the world cup in all other categories and fail to qualify for the senior men’s world cup with the SE, no 2nd term for you.
The shortsightedness of that school of thought is what we are experiencing now, where the production lines that should feed the SE has been cut.
On the 2/06/24, Brazil 4 Jamaica 0, Japan 2 New Zealand 0. The second leg of the matches are fixed for 6/6/24.
Our dear super Falcons have not even start camping yet
This present NFF is profit business minded and not success minded. But they have forgotten that without success our national team will loose value and become a long term loosing venture that will not attract sponsors. As for EFCC they are bunch of useless Criminals that must be scrapped away!!!!
organizing camps and friendlies in an Olympics is the job of NOC not NFF, NOC will arrange camping and the likes, they will only collaborate with NFF or seek advice from them, worst case scenario, they will ask NFF to send some few members to join them.
NOC will not allow NFF to solely handle the super falcons for an Olympic event.
WE all know there is money from the government already budgeted for camping, day to day allowance etc. for all the sporting events Nigeria will be taking part. NOC have been waiting 4 years and we think they will see money and call another crook nff association to come and help loot. I doubt they will.
Nigeria’ loss is France’ gain. What a big miss to the Super Eagles…. World class left footer gone.
Enjoy the best of your football career Michael Olise, onye egwu 4life!!!
Olise has never said he wants to look in the direction of Super Eagles… It was Gernot Rohr who missed the chance to cap this guy for Nigeria. Rohr was only interested in players who will sign for his football agency affiliated DWM Sports Management… Eze and Olise could easily have been capped when they were at the championship.
Hmmm….interesting. So the likes of Okoye, Aina, Bassey, Mama, Akpoguma, Ebuehi and other foreign
borns who honored invitation under Rohr signed for DWM before they got invitations…?!
I think that zirkzee of bologna is the only player we have in out hańds now among all, and that guy is more dangerouse than both eze and oliseh, we should invite him immidiatly he doesnt need to switch nationality i think he is good to go.
Zirkzee is waiting for Netherlands…
