Guinea began their campaign at the Paris Olympic Games men’s football on a shaky note after losing 2-1 to New Zealand in their Group A opening fixture on Wednesday.
Matthew Garbett could have given New Zealand the lead in the 24th minute, but he failed to convert his penalty spot.
However, he redeemed his image in the 25th minute when he netted the opening goal to the delight of his teammates.

Amadou Diawara leveled parity in the 72nd minute for Guinea with a low drive shot that went past New Zealand goalkeeper Alex Paulsen.
A few minutes later, New Zealand extended their lead to 2-1 through Ben Waine to seal the maximum points.
New Zealand will next face the USA, while Guinea will battle France on Saturday, July 27th, 2024.
