Giannis Antetokounmpo-led Greece suffered another defeat, losing 84-77 to Spain in their Paris Olympics men’s basketball second Group A game on Tuesday, July 30.
Greece, who were tipped as favorites in the tournament, had previously lost their Group opener against Canada 86-79 on Saturday, July 27.

Despite Antetokounmpo finishing the match with 27 points on 11-for-15 shooting, 11 rebounds, and 2 steals, Spain’s resilience overpowered Greece. The quarter scores were: 21-22, 28-13, 13-21, and 22-21.
Greece will play against Australia on Friday, August 2, for a chance to advance to the playoffs as one of the two best third-placed teams from the three groups.
Spain’s Rudy Fernandez was helped off the court by the team’s medical staff after suffering a head injury following mid-air contact with Juancho Hernangomez.
