Crystal Palace are looking into the possibility of signing soon-to-be free agent Hatem Ben Arfa this summer. Rennes confirmed on Monday that they would not be taking up the option to extend France international Ben Arfa’s contract, bringing an end to his one-year stay at Roazhon Park.

The 32-year-old, who will officially become a free agent on July 1, has been linked with a move to Spain although there are now reports claiming he could be in line for a Premier League return. Having played for Newcastle United and Hull City, the winger has plenty of experience of playing in England and he is said to be interested in heading back to the PL.
Palace boss Roy Hodgson is expected to have another small budget to work from this summer unless Wilfried Zaha is sold, and Ben Arfa would represent a cheap option as a transfer fee is not required. The Frenchman’s wages could be a potential stumbling block but the Eagles are hoping they can persuade the winger to consider a lower pay packet.
