Crystal Palace have reportedly been told they will have to spend £30million to sign Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland. With Julian Speroni confirming his retirement, and both Wayne Hennessey and Vicente Guaita 32 years of age, Palace are eager to bring in a young shot-stopper to take the number one position.

Former England boss Hodgson is believed to have put Butland at the top of his wish list although the Eagles could face a battle for his signature, with Bournemouth also showing a keen interest. However, Palace may have to turn their attention elsewhere this summer following reports Stoke have slapped a £30m valuation on the 26-year-old, who played 45 Championship matches this term. The Eagles don’t have a huge transfer kitty although the potential sale of Wilfried Zaha, who has confirmed he wants to leave Selhurst Park, would significantly bump up the funds.
