Arsenal want former winger Marc Overmars to become their new technical director, according to reports in the Netherlands. Voetbal International claim the 45-year-old Ajax director of football is a leading candidate for the role, which could mean a sensational return to the club for the ex-Gunner.
Overmars played for Arsenal for three years and was a key man in the double-winning campaign of 1997-98, scoring a significant goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Arsenal have apparently put Overmars’ name on a shortlist of candidates as current boss Unai Emery seems unable to form a working relationship with head of recruitment Sven Mislintat, who seems destined to leave the club.
The ex-Ajax winger, who has been acting as director of player affairs at the Dutch club since the summer of 2012, still has a commitment to remain in Amsterdam until 2020.
