Napoli head coach Luciano Spalletti says Victor Osimhen still needs to learn about making the right movements to become a better striker.
Osimhen was a doubt for the Europa League first-leg round of 16 tie with Barcelona at Nou Camp which ended 1-1.
However, he was passed fit and named in the starting eleven before making way for Dries Mertens with 10 minutes left.
And reflecting on Osimhen’s performance, Spalletti said:”Osimhen gives us these incredible changes of pace,” the Italian tactician was quoted on football-italia.net.
“He still needs to learn about the right movements, as in the second half he was caught offside four or five times when he really should’ve been following the line. The midfielders also need to draw out an opposition defender to then put the pass through.
“I do see this performance as an improvement, if we can only carry on certain moves and approaches for the whole game. It was the choice of defending deeper that cost us, because that was a choice. When we attacked Barcelona, we caused them a lot of problems.”

Osimhen should try to leave Napoli at the end of the season if any reasonable offer comes his way. It seems all the conditions at the club is not favouring him.
For the two seasons he has spent at the Italian club, there is always an injury season which tells on his general performance. Should his stay continues like this, he will be regarded as a flop and his value and morale will definitely go down. The Italian league will only cause more harm if decides to stay as the supporters might turn their back against him.
During the January window, Newcastle came calling but Napoli declined their offer for an English move.
A stitch in time saves nine.
Harry Kane Scored 4 goals from open play in 21 matches and Osimhen scored 6 goals from open play in 15matches. Yet they’ll not say he Kane doesn’t know how to move. Osihmen should be wise and leave this Italian league before they kill his confidence. Your teammates hardly give you the ball when you’re relaxed, you need to move away now.
The Serie A is not the problem.
The issue is Osimehn’s lack of intelligence in attacking aerial duels.
He should learn from greats such as Alan Shearer and Lewandoski.
A point to note is the match against Barcelona where he almost broke his shoulder while jumping over an opponent, far away from the opponents penalty box.
Yes, he should be an aggressive striker, but with wisdom that profits much.
