Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was once again on the score sheet, as he netted a brilliant goal in Napoli’s 2-0 win away to Sassuolo in Friday’s Serie A game.
Osimhen is now the first Napoli player able to score in seven matches in a row in Serie A in the three points for a win era (since 1994/95)
He has now taken his goals in the Serie A to 18 this season and needs just four more goals to equal George Weah’s goals in the Italian topflight.
Weah, former AC Milan striker and current Liberia president, has 46 goals in 114 games while Osimhen has scored 42 goals in 70 games.
After Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has given Napoli the lead in the 12th minute, Osimhen made it 2-0 on 33 minutes.
After receiving a long pass, Osimhen wriggled past two markets before hitting a low right foot shot from a tight angle which beat Sassuolo keeper at his near post.
With five minutes left in the first half, Sassuolo thought they had pulled a goal back but after a VAR check the goal was overturned for offside.
In the 95th minute, Giovanni Simeone thought he had added Napoli’s third but his effort was also ruled out for offside.
The win took Napoli – now on 62 points – 18 points clear of second-placed Inter Milan in the league table.

I’m tired of PRAISING this guy.
Make all of una just do am for me in the comments below me
Kudos VO9! More wins to you & Naple. You could have scored a hat trick or even 4 goals today… Pls work harder and train that left foot strike more for accuracy.
I wish to call the attention of the SE coaching crew and players to study the quality of passes, crosses, pullout and complimentary runs Osimhen and others (Iheanacho) enjoy in their clubsides for optimum performance.
See that quick (timely) cross from deep to Osimhen for the 2nd goal… Can our midfielders and central defenders adopt it?…
See Kvarashelia outside foot cross to VO9 for that header…. Can Simon, lookman, Chukwueze and others play such?
Observe how Kvara always make those complimentary runs when VO9 is set up with the ball and vice versa?? Can our wingers/AM make such fast and untiring runs??? (NB: Iheanacho also flourish as a lone striker when he has a fast and skillful winger/AM making those runs to give him options)?
What about the shooting ability of SE players??? Over to you SE coaching crew!
You have a solid point but most Nigerian footballers don’t read complete sports o. They all spend time watching Romano on YouTube, playing PS5 and watching ESPN that almost never have black players time. I’m saying this because most of them I know when I ask did you see this news they ask where and I say CS the reaction I get makes me realise they don’t fancy Nigeria news outlet if they don’t have interview with them. For me these their mindset is mediocre because they don’t know this is the place where Nigerians who understands the Game will help show them their strength and weaknesses. The only players I suspect follow CS is Musa and Ighalo and these ones are already on retirement league the rest has to wake up no wonder Complete Sports don’t promote them.
This is truly historic, what’s happening. Napoli has never looked so good. Osimhen is simply UNSTOPPABLE. It’s nice to see a revival of the Italian league, as not much happened in the past 10 years. This team is really unique.
The management and scouting department of Napoli deserve a special award. They are skilled in the art of deal making. They have put together a killer squad, without spending too much money, unlike other clubs that will spend hundreds of millions, and end up with nothing to show. An example of their prudent business methodology is how they acquired Kvara from Dinamo Batumi of Georgia in July last year for a paltry sum of about $12 million. That acquisition may end up becoming the deal of the century. They stand to gain 10 times or more of their investment when they eventually sell him.
Thumbs up brotherman Pompei. You spoke well
Osimhen is doing great in many front the only room for improvement is those one on one finish that Halaand has been using to rake up lots of goals. He has to improve on that front otherwise he’s is excellent with Nodding and finishing from tight angle. Congratulations to him on breaking the record for most consecutive goals scored by a Naples player, he is becoming a legend and by the end of the season he will be crowned a legendary.
Sadly Christian Atsu’s is dead.Body pulled out of rubbles this morning.
Lorenzo Insigne’s selfish play really hampered him in the early seasons he joined Napoli, we can all see the difference with the new guy kava
This is a very bad news….I was praying for him to be found safely. May God grant the family the fortitude to bear this great lol.
