Former Nigeria international Victor Agali has advised Victor Osimhen not to rush back from injury as it could be detrimental.
On Tuesday Osimhen declared himself ready to feature for Nigeria at next year’s AFCON in Cameroon despite just coming back from a facial injury.
The Napoli striker fractured his eye socket and cheekbone after colliding with an Inter Milan player.

Following the injury and after undergoing surgery, Napoli announced that Osimhen would be sidelined for three months which automatically rule him out of the continental showpiece.
And Agali has urged Osimhen not to put his health at risk by rushing back to action.
“It’s a good thing, it’s positive from him and I appreciate what he is doing but he should be cautious because football is beyond 2021 AFCON,” Agali said on ‘The Sports Breakfast Show’ on Brila FM.
“He should wait for the doctors to declare him fit, people like us have made that mistake because we were anxious to do something, to satisfy lots of people and we paid for it so he should be careful. He should stay quiet and trust the experts to decide for him.”
The Eagles are in Group D with Egypt, Guinea-Bissau and Sudan.

I share your thoughts too. He should calm down and recover well. Don’t die for Nigeria o. There will be Many Afcon bro
I’m fully in support of Agali has said. There are many more AFCONs to play so its better to stay back and heal very well than ruash back and suffer a relapse..@Osigoal my broda in as much as we need you badly for the AFCON we value ur health more moving forward. So pls check your self well before returning back to the pitch but for club and country. This moreso because AFCON is a very tough and physical tournament as even ur mentor Didier Drogba once submitted . Wishing you all the best in your career.
Agali should keep his fear to himself. OSIMENEGOALS is fully fit. Napoli doctors are only trying to be smart for Napoli’s course. Osimene asking for his name to be amongst those invited so he can come tells everything, that he knows Napolis doctors are not being honest. OSIMENE WILL COME, N EVEN IF HE DOESN’T GET TO PLAY FIRST FEW MATCHES, HE WILL BE SUPER READY FOR THE REST.
Why is he on mask if he is that fit? I align with Agali, his health should take priority. This would even do the nation good in the long run.
I see it as a hero playing against all odds for his country. That will be the position of history.
Now, that brings me to having a different view from that of Mr. Aghali Which I see as a previously held position before technological advancement.
We can’t underestimate the fact that football is a contact sport, so it’s not surprising for players to run into or tackle each other. Unfortunately, due to the physical nature of the game, it is most certain players will eventuality get injured. In former times, some serious injuries did keep footballers away from the field. For e.g, skull fractures or a broken nose, and even eye problems. With the advancement of the orthopedics, masks and glasses have been designed to allow players take the field safeguarding those injuries or problems during matches.
Since he has the permission of Doctor Roberto Ruggiero to commence training, Osimhen should go the whole hog with the facial mask, represent us in cameroon. Apart from Nigeria loosing his services, Africans who are already looking out for those gangling strides and towering headers which are synonymous to Osimhen, would feel upset because they know he’s not just a striker, Osimhen comes with glamour.
Guys this CSN should not just be publishing some useless story they just got from a comment on social media. They need to stop being lazy and do proper interview with a relevant authority on a story like this, not just any Dick and Harry saying bla…bla…bla!!!
The appropriate person to speak on his injury and recovery here is the Team Doctor, Coach or the Surgeon and the medical team that was involved in his treatment.
Clinically there is no cause for alarm, this was just a fracture of some small bones that usually heal faster especially with surgery where they further stabilise it with Pins and plates hence he should be fully healed in 6 weeks maximum. So he should be fine with the specialised face mask to play football again
@Oseodion Inegbenebor:
I read some of the posts but wondered why. I think it was in a match against Reading, Petr Cech had a head collision with an on rushing striker, He suffered multiple skull fractures but came back on the field after a few weeks sporting a specially designed head gear, he kept. He was in goal for Chelsea. I don’t understand some of these former players self. Just confusing Super Eagles Coaches. Osimhen knows himself and said he is ready to play, that should be it.
What’s the hurry? If Osimhen aggravates his facial injury in Cameroon, there will be no doctor to give him the expert surgery he had in Naples
Osimhen is fit for Afcon. Cavendish Imaging are able to construct the masks from a model of the face derived from scan data; using either omon-site optical scanner or cone beam technology, as well as data from most off site scanners. This avoids the need for a physical impression of the face, which can be unpleasant. This authorises the player to play with masks. Largely, ignorance remains one of Nigeria’s problem.
There’s nothing to be aggravated my bro, the face mask protection is all he needs to play from now till the end of season or a couple of years.
Facial bone injury cannot be as bad as Skull fracture that Petre Cech sustained and still played for many years after.
Hello friends… I stumble across this on youtube and thought to share with us! Honestly speaking… Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis will bring a lot to the table… be the judge!

It is not the same thing as playing in Afcon. That is the difference. You try.
@Samuel. I even thought it was on African soil. Most of those oyibo biscuit bone game no dey strong like Afcon e not dey catch. Na Ndeagu of cameroon go break his leg for round two
Jimmy thank you for this video clip on Dennis, without bias the guy has fast legs and great skill, no doubt he can add a different dimension to the Eagles striking force.
The menace is a bonafide hustler.
A hardworking striker.
I laugh when I see what he did to Rudiger @ 1:35 🙂 🙂 🙂
Hope to see him at the Afcon.
Dennis’ wahala is too much. Just harassing defenders upandan.
If you’re playing against THE MENACE, no rest for 90 mins.
@JimmyBall, you stumbled on, not stumble across this no. It could as well be that you stumble across it. Meanwhile, you have an irrelevant post totally different from Osimhen Must Be Cautious Football Goes Beyond 2021 AFCON’ by Agali. Hopefully, you aren’t out of point, are you?
He is confused.
Ose Odion, you too come with glamour. Who are you???
Me I agree with Agali ooo.
We all want Osimhen to play Afcon. His turbo charged style is very good for us. But if the injury is not fully healed, I feel it is more prudent to exclude Osimhen from the Afcon squad. That should give him more time to recover, and be ready for the world cup playoffs.
So the key question is – IS OSIMHEN FULLY HEALED?
