Going into the fixture against Villa Brentford had lost their last three games.

Good one bro,why is nwakali not in camp yet,is he forming big player too
At the moment he’s involved in a league game hopefully,he will join the national team tomorrow
His team plays today so probably after today’s game.
Super Eagles knocking at the pharaoh’s door. Nice game Onyeka
I hope the coach is noticing something. Players who are not playing shud not be in the 1st team .
Iwobi the benchwarmer, our prayers are with you. If not for the Super Eagles, Iwobi will be nobody in world football. Only national team is making his relevant. Heaven bless Iwobi and all deserving Super Eagles benchwarmers. Lolzzzz
Iwobinho for Ballon d’or!
Haha he plays well for us so no qualms
Cracking game at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool and Chelsea going at it.
Liverpool go 2 goals up, Chelsea claw their way back.
All to play for in the 2nd half.
Don’t really know what is wrong with Iwobi. He was far better as a 21 year old at Arsenal than what he has done in the past two years as an Everton player.
Let me tell you his problem, He needs to be benched in Nigeria so that better players like Nwakali and Aribo will take his place, then after that time, his eyes go clear. His problem is the first team that he enjoys whenever he comes back home. He’s overrated even when we know that the two aforementioned players are better than him. After AFCON If God helps Nigeria, get Oliseh, Madueke, Ejaria, Eze and Chukwuemeka of Aston Villa where do you think Iwobi will play. He won’t even make the squad. He’s the reason Nigeria is looking for creativity up till now. You can’t play for Everton, how can you play for a world Class National team in the class of Chelsea, Manchester United or Real Madrid like Nigeria’s Super Eagles. Let’s call a spade a spade and encourage the lad Iwobi to buckle up or else. Your guess is as good as mine.
Lolzzzz. If some of us talk the truth about Iwobi dem go call us evil agent with evil intentions. Like you say @ @Obiweluozo and call a spade a spade, The guy no sabi full stop. Lolzzzz
Chief..I can agree with you if you say Aribo is better but Nwakali? That’s a big lie!
It’s beeter to be warming bench at Everton than Huesca.

Iwobi and Aribo are tested and trusted. Let’s see what Nwakali can do with national team before you bring that leg.
@Obiweluozo
You’re right about Iwobi.
I also do feel that most of the players mentioned as likely replacements for Alex Iwobi might as well struggle to keep a first team shirt in the EPL. Remember Nwakali was a first team player with SD Huesca in Liga before they got relegated. While in the elite division, Nwakali lost his first team place and was dropped to the bench.
At the point, Aribo enjoys rave reviews in Scotland with Rangers as one of the team’s top performers. Given the competitiveness of the EPL, are we confident that Joe Aribo can confidently hold down a regular first team shirt.
Anyway it’s remains to be seen.
Needless to say Midfield ( central, attacking) is one of the most technical department of the midfield which requires a lot of confidence, creativity with other mental and physical attributes like quick exchange of passes, shooting range, dribbling skills and all. Not so many modern midfielders combine this attributes.
Iwobi ,overtime in the national team and at club level, has been deplored in the attacking midfield role without any significant impacts rather he would drift to the wing.
With the national team and at club level, he’s struggled to maintain his form after some flashes of brilliance; in other words, he really needs to maintain some level of consistency to be taken seriously as his talents are not in doubt. Discipline is the keyword here. From reliable study, a number of eagles’ players despite their skills set and talents have failed to fulfil their potential due to indiscipline. After some flurry of goals or good runs at club level, it’s not uncommon to find many of them – Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi, losing their heads and getting carried away by seeking social media patronages and validations…
The hallmark of great players is the ability to push harder through hard work. Talents are scarcely enough.
As poor as Iwobi has been, he’s been behind most goals scored by Super Eagles, he can really do better than what he’s doing, he’s got that talent. Boy better sit up, a serious competition should be provided for him within that team as that would bring out the best in him. Best wishes Iwobi
@obiweluozo, I tire for your comment ooo. Which nwakali? Is it the one that struggles to cement a spot in a second division team? Or ejaria that’s playing for a team that’s battling relegation in championship, not the EPL ooo, and is still yet to score up to five goals in over 15 appearances. Or oliseh and eze that don’t even get call up for matchday squad? When last did those two even play, only heaven knows.
I admit, iwobi is not living up to his potential. But as you well said, we must encourage him to deliver his best for both club and country sooner than later. However don’t insult him. In all those names you mentioned only Aribo can stand toe to toe. And even in that, when it comes to country football iwobi is far better. Minus the first two games aribo played for super eagles, iwobi has been head and shoulder above him. During world cup qualifiers, iwobi finished as super eagles highest assist. Iwobi is the glue that makes the team coherent. When he was subbed for ejuke, we all saw how our midfield lost its bite and eventually collapsed. Football no be gra gra.
But like I said, iwobi still has a lot to improve on.
Thank you @ Kingston, u Sabi.
Iwobinho! He has seriously declined, even the young Gordon has a starting berth ahead of iwobi. I had advocated for the young amoo for the no 10 but was shut down by iwobinho fans. Aribo is also not a 10, just shows you the lack of understanding of the game some fans have. A no.10 is the trequartista. He is the play maker, a player with high technical quality and an uncanny eye for a pass. He has peripheral vision with the ability to see opportunities even before it becomes obvious. He has good passing range. His technical quality creates opportunities for his team mates. The no. 10 is one who plays in the hole(The part of the field inbetween the opposition defence and opposition midfield). I have seen amoo do this regularly for hammarby. Aribo is more of a box to box central midfield player. He has a good engine on him and an ability to arrive at the opposition box to score. Aribo can only pass short and is not much of a dribbler. N
@ Golden Child, why do you think Aribo is scoring goals for club side? Do you think most of those goals were from his center midfield role? From our current formation, we use one defensive midfielder in Indidi and one block to block where either Aribo or Etebo plays. So the next should be an offensive midfielder which is No 8 and not 10. This is why Iheanacho also plays it for us sometimes and if u notice, iwobi had scored many goals and assists from that role in the past ..against England, Argentina, Algeria(qualifier), Cameroon, Zambia etc. So if we combine Indidi and Onyeka, why can’t Aribo play the role like he do plays it at club level sometimes?
Well in the case of Alex , he needs to rework his skills as he’s not giving us quality esp in the midfield . It’s like he’s mojo has gone down a bit and that ain’t good for him and his place in the national team .
Although while looking at the whole creative midfielder’s issue Joe Aribo is the most consistent of them all whereas Nnwakali is kinda suspect as he’s not been given much playing he in the Spanish club that he’s playing for . His best asset is that he can score free kicks .
One player that I would have loved to see in the team is Akinwunmi Amoo who can perform excellently well as a partner to Aribo as well as a goal scorer as he can play creative role as well as play the role of supporting striker, right wing and left wing . His presence would have made the difference .
@golden child, lolz! So you have better “understanding of the game” than Steven Gerrard that called aribo a no10. And saying aribo don’t have good dribbling skills?!! What won’t I hear in complete sports. The same aribo that was selected among the highest successful dribble ratio in the Scottish league. I tire ooo.
The qualities you were listing, can you name ten African players that have them? And please don’t include players in Sunday leagues especially when they don’t have the requisite experience.
Iwobi’s blessings are also his curse.
His versatility and humility.
Due to his versatile skills, he doesn’t know his best position. He is kind of in a confused stagnated state. He doesn’t understand which role suits his vast skill set best. And most of the coaches he has worked under have basically not aided in interpreting his best role. Safe for his days under Arsene; who defined his role perfectly.
His humility has also held him back. He doesn’t come across hungry. He doesn’t push for that role when given the opportunity. He lacks that aggression needed to get up a notch. He needs that.
That said, when he comes to the Eagles ,he is a different being. He plays to his best and they’re always positive. Iwobi holds the cog to our attack and records prove such. He enjoys the trust of the Eagles ( more so under Rohr) and have mostly paid back such with vital assists and important goals.
I dare say, Iwobi is a vital part of the Super Eagles attack.
I can only hope he gets to prove himself at The Clubside. I do believe in him.
