Victor Boniface has expressed sadness after being ruled out of this year’s AFCON due to injury.
Boniface picked up the injury in the Super Eagles training camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Due to the injury the Bayer Leverkusen striker missed the Eagles’ test game against an Abu Dhabi local club which ended 12-0 on Sunday.
Also, Boniface was not selected for the friendly game against Guinea on Monday which the Eagles lost 2-0.

His injury is coming just six days before the Eagles open their AFCON campaign against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, 14 January.
Commenting on the setback, the striker recalled how he also missed the 2019 U-20 AFCON due to injury also.
“U20 nations cup got injured 7 days before nations cup,” he wrote on X.
“Super eagles got injured 6days before Nations cup
“Only GOD Knows why.”
Taiwo Awoniyi and Wilfred Ndidi were also ruled out of the tournament due to injury.

This a guy who never got injured, playing back to back for leverkusen all season and gbam to NC injury crop in, anyway get well soon, God really know why.
The coach needs to act quick and replace Boniface with Moffi and then add 2 out of this 3 due to possibly further injury or red cards.
Ihenacho is not fully recovered
Tella, Dele Bashiru , Nwakali
I can only give my own two cents and I am not for an instant insisting that I am right o, but are we sure that all these last minute injuries is not the work of our jaded, jealous shadowy frenemies from darkland aka ghana or African land from “down under”??
Hmm – I remember warning these greedy Nigerian nincompoops not to lodge our boys in the same hotel with those devilish paupers but NO, they won’t listen – I have said it on here many times before and I repeat it now, in Yoruba land, there is a saying which loosely translated to English goes something like – The dog that is destined to go missing never heeds it’s master’s calls – go figure abegi!
Aje ke lana, omo ku loni!
When will you people learn ke?
Ire O! God bless Nigeria!
Your proposition is not logical moreover we are not the same group, we may not even meet them as the competion progreses
This mugu is talking about same group teehehehe- Yeye man lol!
@Field marshall. Please be decent and show some respect in your choice of words. What has his injury got to do with the fact that they are lodging in the same hotel with our brothers Ghana? Your argument appears illogical. It is not every story that you must comment on please
Toni you are an IDIOT! (ONLY THE FEMALE VERSION OF THAT NAME IS SPELLED LIKE THAT- SHOWS WHERE YOUR BRAIN IS LOCATED ON YOUR ANATOMY)
Choice of words ke?? hahahaha – what a moron you are!
You are telling me what story I can comment on abi? bruhahaha. I am not stupid like you, understand that, I can comment anyhow I like – Ratassed Retard!
Are our players managing themselves well. Ndidi and iheanacho played for their club in December 26.
Ndidi got injured.
Boniface got injured in training six days before the tournament.
Some wisdom is definitely missing here.
Please has anybody witnessed Ronaldo or messi get injured some days before a tournament.
I may be wrong. But are the players missing something here.
Ndidi
Awoniyi
Boniface
Nacho
Who is next before the tournament. Maybe Oshimen.
I think out chances of doing well has reduced.
I’ve said it here time and time, sport man need control what’s goes into there system, our boys are definitely not taken good care of themself, our delicacies are not
Meant for sportmen, I expect them to at least get the service of a qualified nutritionist that would manage what’s good for them to eat, I’m not been pessimistic here, but I will be surprise if VO play the entire tournament without injury.
However and whatever, super who, will not come out from the group stage. Why, because, we have no coach. Only ye-ye stupid coach from foreign land. Nigeria will be humiliated like we have never seen before.
You just nailed it bro! Thanks for the comment. Paseiro is zero to nothing!
I predicted this. I said Boniface, Osimhen and Lookman should stay behind because they have a good thing going on and the club team needs them most. Especially Boniface with Bayer Leverkusen being in 1st place in Germany. Players always come out injured playing for Nigeria, its nothing new.
This is my previous comment on the squad release:
Osimhen and Boniface should of stayed with their club. Especially boniface, bayer Leverkusen is leading and with his presence gone I wouldnt be surprised if they fall. Cant risk a good thing for mediocrity and going through challenges. And watch them go back to their club injured like always
