Onazi: I’m Committed To Representing Super Eagles

Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has declared his readiness to represent the senior national team if called up by interim head coach of the team, Augustine Eguavoen.

Recall that Onazi was an integral part of the Super Eagles that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations under late coach Stephen Keshi after beating Burkina Faso 1-0 in the final.

The Nigerian international, in a chat with Brila FM, stated that he should not be regarded as an ex-international since he has not retired from active football.

“I have not retired. If they call me an ex-international, I don’t know why, but anyway it is okay,” Onazi stated.

Currently playing for Serie D side Avezzano, Onazi, who earned 52 caps for the Super Eagles, last featured for the national team in 2018.

Onazi, please keep the hope alive.

If a 3rd division greenhorn can consistently receive Eguavoen’s call-up to come to sit on the Eagles’ bench, at the expense of players playing regularly in European continental competitions, there’s hope for an experienced veteran like you playing in the Serie D.
