Kenneth Omeruo has revealed that determination and camaraderie played a key role in the Super Eagles successful outing at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles exceeded expectations by making it to the final of the competition.
Jose Peseiro’s tutored lads started their AFCON 2023 campaign with a disappointing 1-1 draw against the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea.
The three-time African champions however fought their way to the final where they lost 2-1 to hosts Cote d’Ivoire.

Omeruo insisted that the players believed they could win the title going into the competition.
The Kasimpasa of Turkey defender also singled out goalkeper Stanley Nwabali for his exemptional display In Cote d’Ivoire.
“I am especially proud of Stanley Nwabali, how he was able to come into the team and show his qualities,” Omeruo told Arise TV.
” The team believes in itself, and knows it can perform better. I hoped that we would win gold at the 2023 AFCON, nonetheless, our eyes are on AFCON 2025.”
