Kenneth Omeruo says he is proud of the performance his Leganes teammates in their Copa del Rey Round of 16, second leg 1-0 win over Real Madrid at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque, reports Completesports.com.
Omeruo starred for Leganes in the win, but The Cucumber Growers crashed out 3-1 on aggregate having lost the first leg 3-0 to Real Madrid with Sergio Ramos, Lucas Vasquez and Vinicius Junior on the score sheet that night at the Santiago Bernabeu last week.
An early goal from Martin Braithwaite gave the hosts the lead in Wednesday’s second-leg clash, but it proved not to be the start of a remarkable comeback.
“I’m actually proud of myself and my teammates for tonight victory against Real Madrid. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to take us to the next round, But what a game. #vamosleganes #ko22,” Omeruo tweeted on Thursday.

The game was Omeruo’s 15th appearance for Leganes across all competitions.
He is expected to face another tough task on Saturday when Leganes travel to the Camp Nou to face Barcelona in a La Liga clash.
Leganes are 13th in the La Liga standings with 22 points from 19 games.
