Kenneth Omeruo has backed newly appointed Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle to make a positive impact with the team.
Chelle was unveiled by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) this week.
The 47-year-old has been tasked with the responsibility of guiding the Super Eagles to 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification.

Despite the criticism that greeted the gaffer’s appointment, Omeruo has backed him to have a successfully reign.
“Judging from the way the Malian team played, not just in friendlies but also at AFCON 2023, you can see an organized structure,” the centre-back said during a live X Space session he co-hosted with Wilfred Ndidi and Asisat Oshoala.
“I think he has something to offer the team. With the level of talent in the Super Eagles, he won’t have any problem getting us to play the way he wants.”
The former Mali international’s first official game in charge of the Super Eagles will be the 2026 World Cup qualifier against the Amavubi of Rwanda in March.

Omeruo is wise with the open cheque for Eric Chelle ‘s invites to SE. matches. I stand to be corrected.
Lol. We know ourselves @Afuye.
I believe the man will do well.
It is left to our players to rise to the occasion.
If NFF does not manipulate the list and allow Eric to do his job, then the whole world will congratulate Nigeria soon. Because we are going to witness something new and different.
Ire. God bless Nigeria!!!
Why didnt he do well in the world cup qualifying matches with Mali. Every one is saying he has good record this and that but no one got insight to the fact that the world cup is a different ball game from AFCON and friendly games
This is a good point. We must also give this coach opportunity to dig his own grave. The Super Eagles job is too big for him but corruption has ruined NFF which is a mirror to Nigerian society at large.
We will never live up to our potentials as a nation by cutting corners. That is why no food, bad roads and dilapidated infrastructure are everywhere in this sick country. To even buy data for my phone is difficult.
This Malian coach is lightweight fighting heavyweight boxing .
We wish him well bcos if he succeed then everyone is happy.
