Former Super Eagles skipper Sunday Oliseh says Villarreal were programmed to win this season’s UEFA Europa League.
Villarreal claimed their first ever European title after overcoming Manchester United 11-10 on penalties after regulation time ended 1-1.
David De Gea’s spot kick was saved by Villarreal goalkeeper which denied United a first trophy since 2017.

The win by Villarreal means Unai Emery is the most successful coach in the history of the competition with four titles.
Recalling the encounter Oliseh wrote on his verified Twitter handle:”Felt like a David Vs. Goliath scenario to some. But as those who have watched Villareal regularly in la Liga & D Europa League will tell you, they were programmed to win this trophy.
“Tactically & physically well rounded with a very limited Budget comparably. Guess we love underdogs.”
Villarreal have now qualified for next season’s UEFA Champions League alongside Laliga champions Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Sevilla.
