Technical Adviser of Enyimba of Aba, Yemi Olanrewaju has heaped plaudits on the Match Day -8 clash involving El-Kanemi Warriors and nine time winners, Enyimba, saying it was a perfect advertisement for Nigeria club football, Completesports.com reports.
Olanrewaju’s declaration came even after the People’s Elephant were caged in the gritty but thrilling contest by Usman Abbas’ first half stoppage time goal, which proved decisive as the home side secured the three points.
“We know they are a very good side. I think they gave us a good game. First half, we struggled a bit, may be as a result of fatigue. I think they controlled the first half and we had the second half.
“We’re obviously the better side in the second half. Even though we didn’t score in the first half, we still created more chances. Overall, it was a good game, a good advert for Nigeria Premier League,” Olarenwaju said.
Usman Abbas first half stoppage time strike separated the two teams as the home side raced to claim a famous victory over the two time African Champions.

Olanrewaju could not be drawn into making categorical outburst about officiating but nonetheless, gave a pass mark to the arbiters who presided over the tie but not without a caveat.
“I don’t talk about officiating. That area is completely out of my powers and control but I would say it wasn’t a bad performance for them (referees) today.
“However, the only area I can talk about is the added time. El-Kanemi Warriors made their maximum substitutions. We also made our maximum subs.
“That automatically makes it 10 subs altogether and you’re adding only three minutes despite all the time they were wasting. That was the only thing I can complain about.”
Enyimba with with 14 points are third on the table and will welcome Ikorodu City in a Match Day 9 fixture in Aba this weekend.
Similarly, El-Kanemi Warriors, with 11 points and 5th on the log, will be away to Rivers United in a Match Day 9 tie inside the Adokiye Amiesimaka Sports Complex, Omagba, near Port Harcourt, this weekend.
