Maduka Okoye has sets his sight on becoming Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper, Completesports.com reports.
The Sparta Rotterdam goalie was picked ahead of Dele Alampasu and Matthew Yakubu for Nigeria’s friendlies against African champions Algeria and the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.
Okoye made a number of impressive saves against the Algerians and put up a decent showing in the 1-1 draw versus Tunisia on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old will have to contend with the trio of Daniel Akpeyi, Francis Uzoho and Ikechukwu Ezenwa for the goalkeeping position.
He is however ready for the big fight and the task ahead.
“Work in progress,” Okoye tweeted.
Okoye will return to league action for Sparta Rotterdam against Feyenoord on Sunday.

Yo better than the Rest u r my no.1 already n u can b no1,if only our super eagle goalie trainer will stop receiving stipend from Akpeyi & Uzoho
You have the ability to be #1. Playing regularly for your club will aid your development and cement your place.
I think he’s the undisputed number one at the moment. If he can command a regular playing time at Rotterdam he will continue to be SuperEagles number one goalie. The way he dealt with crosses into his area is the most eye catching for me. Okoye, Uzoho, Alampasu, Osigwe, Yakubu and a host of other young goalies coming up in that order. Akpeyi and Ezenwa’s days may be over or at best fight the third goalie spot.
ROHR doesn’t rate Alampasu, the battle for third choice is between Yakubu, Osigwe & Lawal
OKOYE YOU REALLY DESERVE TO BE THE N0 1 SPOT IN SUPER EAGLES PLEASE KEEP ON WORKING HARD IN YOUR CLUB AND LET THE WHOLE WORLD SEE WHAT YOU ARE CAPABLE OF DOING
NIGERIANS ARE WATCHING YOU KEEP IT UP
You are better than the rest. A player with a big heart and skill. The types enyeama rufai and shorohumu had. A player who decided to seize opportunities to impress even in his first match against brazil. A great keeper in the making. That last save against Tunisia gave us a draw. That’s what great keepers do. We are proud to have you.
I THINK ROHR PREFERS BIG GUYS AS GOAL KEEPERS.
ALAMPASU AND YAKUBU MAY ALSO BE GOOD BUT LOOK AT THEIR SIZE AS COMPARED TO THE SIZE OF OKOYE AND LAWAL.
SOMEONE LIKE OKOYE WILL NOT HAVE MUCH TROUBLE CLAIMING AREA BALLS EVEN AGAINST TALL OPPONENTS BECAUSE HE IS TALL.
THE REASON I THINK HE PLAYED OKOYE IN THE TWO FRIENDLIES IS TO GET HIM USED TO THE TEAM, GIVING ORDERS TO THE DEFENSE AND COMMUNICATING WITH THEM BECAUSE HE PLANS TO USE HIM FOR THE QUALIFIERS.
HE DID SOMETHING SIMILAR I THINK WITH UZOHO BEFORE THE LAST WORLD CUP.
AS LONG AS HE IS THERE ON MERIT AND IS DOING A GREAT JOB, I HAVE NO ISSUES. I JUST HOPE HE GETS MORE GAME TIME AT CLUB LEVEL.
Okoye all u need now is regular club football.. You have good reflex and can play with your legs which is the attribute of a modern goalie.
U NEED TO WORK HARD EXTRAORDINARY IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE THAT AND LOOK FOR BETTER CLUB WHERE U WILL B KEEPING WEEK IN AND WEEK OUT,
ALSO WATCH OUT FOR SEBASTIAN OSIGWE OF FC ZURICH IN SWITZERLAND
GOOD LUCK TO YOU
I wish you all the very best.
