Maduka Okoye was in goal for Udinese who pipped Frosinone 1-0 away to avoid relegation on the final day of the Serie A.
The win saw Udinese end the campaign in 15th place on 37 points in the final standing.
Keinan Davies got the only goal of the game as his 76th minute strike sealed the win and Udinese’s status for next season.
A win for Frosinone, who ended in 18th on 35 points, would have beaten the drop with a win.
They join Sassuolo and Salernitana as the relegated teams.
After week 38 Inter Milan were crowned champions and finished on 94 points with city rivals AC Milan in second place on 75 points.
Last season’s champions Napoli ended the season in 10th place while Juventus and Europa League winners Atalanta finished in third and fourth respectively.

D guy saved 3 goals am really really impressed we are secured in goal keeping area we lacked few months ago. Congratulations young man
Yea we are now secured in the goalkeeping department. Two solid goalkeepers to pick from on any given day. Maduka ‘Courtois’ Okoye really surprised me this season. First I never expected him to displace Sylvestri. Second he single-handedly helped Udinese to avoid relegation. Lastly he’s actually 24 not 35 claiming 24 Lmao!!
I have a feeling he will wrestle his number one shirt in the National team from Nwabali as time goes on, but I think it’s better to continue with Nwabali for until Okoye is fully stable and ready to take the mantle. However, let the competition continue.
I streamed the match live yesterday he made two back to back world class save in the first half to save his club. Overall his positioning and commanding of the area was top notch in the match. He is part of the reason his club avoided the drop yesterday. Congratulations to him what a way to shame your critics.
…..indeed Tayo. What a way to shame your critics…… Get signed into a top 5 league club, wrestle the no 1 shirt by the middle of the season (for the 2nd time in his professional career), and save them from relegation (again, for the 2nd time in his professional career.
The player whom they said is not ‘a national team material’ just because he is a foreign born is now an established Serie A GK and even attracting interests from big clubs like AS Roma.
Indeed, there is no better way to shame your critics.
