John Ogu is proud his father watched him live for the first inside a stadium when the Super Eagles hosted and pipped the Pharaohs of Egypt 1-0 in an international friendly match at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba on Tuesday, even as he allays fears he could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury in the game, Completesports.com reports
Ogu was among the five players included in the starting line-up against the Pharaohs by Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr.
The Hapoel B e’er Sheva of Israel midfielder put up a fine performance in the game before he was replaced in the second half by Oghenekaro Etebo as a result of injury.
The 30-year-old took to Twitter to express his joy at his father coming around to the stadium to watch him in actio. He also provided information on his fitness situation.
“Great win last night against Egypt.Proud moment for me knowing that my father was in the stadium watching me for the first time 🇳🇬🇳🇬. And to everyone worried about me,Thank y’all,I just had cramp.i will be Good 🙌🙌 ,” Ogu tweeted.
The former Academica of Portugal player has featured 23 times for Nigeria with two goals to his name.
