Head Coach Gernot Rohr has listed Odion Ighalo, Wilfred Ndidi and 22 others for Super Eagles’ closing Group C games of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde this month.
The list was officially released on Monday by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Communications Department.
The Super Eagles will tackle the Lone Star of Liberia at the Grand Stade Tangier in Morocco on Saturday, 13th November and then fly into Lagos for the final group game against Cape Verde’s Blue Sharks at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Tuesday, 16th November.
Top of their pool with nine points but hotly chased by seven-pointer Cape Verde who host Central African Republic on the island of Mindelo, the Eagles need the three points against the Lone Star on the neutral turf of Morocco’s principal northern city to remain on firm ground when hosting the Blue Sharks three days later in Nigeria’s commercial and industrial capital.
Rohr has this time extended invitation to 2019 Africa Cup of Nations’ top scorer Ighalo, who announced his retirement from the international game following that AFCON feat in Egypt.
Leicester City of England’s midfield enforcer Ndidi, who missed the last round of games home-and-away against Central African Republic, is back in the team, just as fellow Premier League star Alex Iwobi and Spain-based forward Samuel Chukwueze.
Also listed for the crucial games are regulars like skipper Ahmed Musa, Leon Balogun, William Troost-Ekong, Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Maduka Okoye and Chidera Ejuke.
Other players listed are Francis Uzoho, Daniel Akpeyi, Kevin Akpoguma, Jamilu Collins, Joe Aribo among others.
The invited players and overseas-based members of the technical crew are to report directly to the city of Tangier on Monday, 8th November while technical officials from Nigeria are to report in Tangier the same day.
Eagles 24-man squad for Liberia and Cape Verde:
Goalkeepers: Francis Uzoho (AC Omonia, Cyprus); Daniel Akpeyi (Kaizer Chiefs, South Africa); Maduka Okoye (Sparta Rotterdam, The Netherlands)
Defenders: Chidozie Awaziem (Alanyaspor FC, Turkey); Kenneth Omeruo (CD Leganes, Spain); Leon Balogun (Glasgow Rangers, Scotland); William Ekong (Watford FC, England); Olaoluwa Aina (Torino FC, Italy); Jamilu Collins (SC Padeborn 07, Germany); Abdullahi Shehu (AC Omonia, Cyprus); Zaidu Sanusi (FC Porto, Portugal); Kevin Akpoguma (TSG Hoffenheim, Germany)
Midfielders: Frank Onyeka (Brentford FC, England); Joseph Ayodele-Aribo (Galsgow Rangers, Scotland); Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City, England); Alex Iwobi (Everton FC, England); Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City, England)
Forwards: Ahmed Musa (Fatih Karagumruk, Turkey); Samuel Chukwueze (Villarreal FC, Spain); Victor Osimhen (Napoli FC, Italy); Moses Simon (FC Nantes, France); Paul Onuachu (KRC Genk, Belgium); Chidera Ejuke (CSKA Moscow, Russia); Odion Jude Ighalo (Al-Shabab Riyadh, Saudi Arabia)

Though I have a bit of misgiving about the composition of the list. Let’s give it to our national team management. Congrats SE, go there and do Nigeria proud. Up Nigeria!!!
I thought Ighalo said he has not decided yet?…..I bet you Ighalo has spent alot of hard currency to put his name on that list and he still dares open his mouth to say he is undecided…… Hypocrisy at it’s peak.
Although I am NOT in support of his re-invitation to the SE, I don’t think he bribed his way back.
It’s just a case of a whimpy coach going all in on the only player he thinks can deliver for him when the chips are down.
He’s still reminiscing about his performances during the AFCON & WC qualifiers especially against Cameroon that’s why he called him back rather instill confidence in the available strikers and find a way out of the creativity problem. I’ve said this before that I don’t think this coach can aid our players’ development. We’re seeing it now.
Which chips are down at this moment?…. Nigeria has qualified for Afcon and we are leading the WC group……. which chips are down?…… Bribery is part and parcel of Nigerian Football if you don’t know now just know it and know peace……Even CSN partakes in it…… Bribery comes in form Gifts Tips Endorsements Support and what have you?…….This whole Ighalo come back was planned and carried out a long time ago and Ighalo’s aim is the Afcon and WC proper hence the hurry to get involved at least in the qualifiers…….CAR only made it easier and excusable…….shine your eye.
Ok sorry.
I did not see leganes man in action in the game against almeria. Y invite him . Uzoho too unused in his club.since iwobi is not performing in his club as expected.
Thank God he scored today.foto no dey lie
caf has given go ahead for the invitation of up to 28 players so i still dont know y ROHR DECIDED to reduce the the number of invited players what am i saying AWONIYI KALU BASSEY AND SADIQ UMAR suppose to be in that list the nation cup is very close the ealier we start bonding them together before the nations cup the better
That is for the tournament not for qualifiers.
You guys where giving me thumb downs attacking my posts one was even saying I should use my wisdom and stop embarrassing myself all because I said Awoniyi is a risk in a world cup qualification match that could decide our faith.Rather he needs to be invited and assessed pre nations cup preparation, have I not being vindicated?
In this kind of games tested and trusted is what you need. After qualification is secured then you can assess the likes of Awoniyi and co..
I guess you’re not yet vindicated till we see what Ighalo brings to the table after coming out of retirement.
While I don’t have anything against your comments, I boldly say that our support for invited players will determine what they bring to the fore. If we expect him to fail, he will undoubtedly fail; however, if we wish him well, our goodwill shall surely help me succeed. I come in peace.
Nobody is wishing him illuck or anything but if we are to think logically, the guy has been away for 2 years and yes he is scoring goals in a less competitive league so.lets see how he can fare in the national team on his return.
I am glad we have an unbiased foreign manager. He invites players to get the job done without sentiment or tribal sentiments.
I would rather a foreigner is employed after Rohr.Because We are not yet ready to manage ourselves you can tell by the agitations of certain sections of the country in the forum when you are not in support of one their owns.Should they have the opportunity to manage the super eagles they will never leave their own out of their roster you can tell by their demeanor.
The biggest problem we have as a country which has held us back unfortunately is tribalism.
Bro forget Ighalo and be truthful Has Onuachu done better than Awoniyi this season. Also compare bother leagues that they play in and you don’t know what tribe I’m from so your assumptions are invalid. Just one miss in the game against CAR and you make it seem like Awoniyi is a terrible player. Even Ighalo missed alot of sitters in the past. So I just don’t get it.
You really have no ideal, what foreign coach? He is a black man with oyinbo skin covering his body, a section of those you complaining about work with him behind the scene when it comes to players invitation, he is equally enjoying fresh dollars and euros in cash, that is why he is not leaving Nigeria job soon, he is ready to die there
I concur. The most hated person is a truth teller.
Greenturf, dont try to play smart. My peeve with you was condemning Awoniyi for not scoring against CAR, discounting the fact that he only played 15 minutes. I reminded you that Osimhen did not score in the same game despite playing the full minutes. I never attacked you for saying Awoniyi should not be invited. I don’t force players on the coach because it is above my paygrade.
I guess from all the comments have read, we do not know what we want as fans, thank God rohr is not like us. Pls if ighalo score don’t shout goal, simple.
If Ighalo was so special then why didn’t he make a single league appearance for Man Utd?…….his specialty is SE abi?…… decieving himself that he is “undecided”, when he is the one pulling the strings underground……smh
If them like make them recall John Utaka, e no concern me as long as my Ejuke dey the list. Smile….
Emmanuel Dennis , Ademola looomam , Ovie Echaria, Bassey , Awoniyi , Umar ought to be added to the list of 28. Don’t even understand what’s happening with Rohr and NFF. With their politics , I wonder how is it that they don’t to pick anyone of these guys .
That’s true . CAF did give that permission to every team . Aeoniyi, Bassey , Umar and perhaps moffi should have been included in that list . Don’t understand why Rohr and his bosses are not doing so .
Rohr names ex-Arsenal starlet Ejaria, Lookman in Nigeria’s provisional squad for AFCON 2021
http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=41548
Arsenal academy product Ovie Ejaria who now plies his trade in the Championship with Reading and Leicester City winger Ademola Lookman are in line to feature in their first major tournament at senior level early next year, provided their application to switch nationalities from England to Nigeria is approved by FIFA.
I have a feeling that Nigeria cannot do anything serious in football till Pinnick and Rohr are gone… no enthusiasm anymore about the team. My expectations are in check… if they do well fine.. if not life goes on. After CAR shocked us recently I just comot emotions for anything Super Eagles… I will support them whenever they have a game though!
I said it……it has already been concluded before it got to the media…..Any way is a way but please don’t come here again to complain that you and your family are being threatened……. You have started the music so be ready for the dance……Now we need results.
I wish the SE well.
I seriously don’t see the need for the invitation of a retired Ighalo. I have never been a fan of Ighalo, never.
I just wish the SE well
Hahahahahha….GAME OVER….!
I just love this man called Rohr……LMAOOooooo.
I like the fact that he lets dogs that cannot bite bark…..LMAOOOoo.
The last time I checked, he will be the one to held responsible for the success or failures of the team while he is in charge.
The onus lies upon he whom Rohr has trusted with his life and immediate future, to either deliver, or sink the man PERMANENTLY.
When the days are dark….friends are few….!!!
Exactly.Couldn’t have said it any better.Thank you @Dr. Drey
@Dr Drey so every time come world cup we will be singing the same song?, the ” Well if they fail we start fresh” song abi?.. Please spare me that bull shit..
I thought we have moved passed that 2014 we shot our self in the foot by collecting bribe for the whole bench.. 2018 Rohr was still fresh and not yet properly corrupted so he tried and he did, select the best we had at the time. But I can see now that he has overstayed his welcome and Nigerian ways are in his blood now and it is clear with Ighalo invite and Musa constant name in the list. he is bringing in the same Shoot yourself in the Foot tactics that Adamu and Keshi were so famous for in their reign. come world Cup Nigeria always has some drama of selection. This team has floors everywhere if you look at For instance Calvin Bassey Stats v SHehu wyou will see. Also if you look deeper he some of the players dropped are Team mates with his current Spine of the team. I.e. Dennis and Ekong, Bassey Aribo and Balogun. Surely the Chemistry of playing in Club togerther can be beneficial in the national setup. Yet he is taking players who are passed their best for sake of Experience when in true fact that is just an excuse because, Experience without quality is as good as a coach shouting instructions from the side lines.
Why not for Once select purely on Merit. Is That too much to ask from the Administration of this team????. It is very simple select only the best. Even an Old man or brain dead dog knows that Ighalo and Musa are not the best in their positions and their so called Experience is not as critical at the moment. Moreover after watching Musa the last games Is he still needed??????
Rohr just needs to select the best at all times, show some enthusiasm for this job and work out different set plays and In game tactics IT IS THE DEFINITIO N OF A COACHES JOB.
SE has already qualify for Afcon and SE will most likely qualify for the WC…….I wish SE the best in all matches…….My condolences to the young players dropped because of Ighalo for this match, you guys will get your chance one day……To Ighalo if your return is truely to serve your nation then it is well with you but if your return is for your own selfish interest then be ready for the disgrace coming your way….. congratulations my man Zaidu for your return to the team,I have always had that believe in you……. welcome back Chukwueze the magician and may we never miss you to injury again…….. Congratulations to all fans of SE for standing by the team till this day…….we shall all drink Heineken with the Afcon and WC one day.
It’s painful, sorry. However, there is another opportunity.
Sorry for what?…..I am only after the progress of football and SE……I also like young people to be given the chance to make a difference……We the youth deserve a chance to bring something to the table……Old things shall pass away behold new things shall come……The young should be given more opportunity and I will always fight for the youth no matter what people say…… open your mind.
@Akp…………….I love your spirt my guy. Glad that you made your opinion known and then accept the inevitable while wishing the SE all the luck.
That’s a better and more matured statement from you devoid of the understandable anger you have previously displayed because your favourite players were not picked. I respect your passion for the Super Eagles. We should all understand we have our favourite players but the coach is responsible for picking his team. He only knows the hardened soldiers he needs to prosecute the impending wars which he must win. Let us join hands to support our team. Thank you.
HE IS NO COACH OF MINE, YOUR COACH WILL FAIL WOEFULLY I WILL PRAY ABOUT IT EVEN IF IT MEANS CAPE VERDE MUST BEAT US AT HOME. ROHR MUST FAIL SO THAT HE IS EXPOSED AND WE ARE SPARED EMBARASMENT COME WORLD CUP!! PERIOD
OPERATION GERNOT ROHR AND ODION IGHALO MUST FAIL IS IN FULL FORCE.
YEYE MUST FINALLY FALL!!!!!
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY ENTIRE LIFE I AM WISHING NIGERIA LOSES THAT IS WHAT IT TAKES FOR DEVINE INTERVENTION THEN SO BE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
I GUESS IT IS BECAUSE I THOUGH WE HAVE LEARNED OUR LESSON FROM KESHI 2014 WORLD CUP OUTING CLEARLY WE HAVEN”T AND THE WORKS ARE STILL AT PLAY. IT WILL ALL COME DOWN LIKE A BURNING LODON BRIDGE AND WE WILL FINALLY SEE THE BACK AND ROHR AND GOD WILLING AMAJU PINNICK.
NIGERIA ADMISITRATION NEEDS TO BE TAUGHT A BIG LESSON RATHER NOW THAN NEXT YEAR.
It would have made much sense to include Victor Moses the last time I checked Victor Moses Qualified us for the last World Cup with his displays against Algeria and Cameroon. That is the player Rohr as coach who cares about Nigeria should have included. Then Emma Dennis is performing much better than Moses Simon at Club Level Rohr aught to know this as he claims to be following the players performances. I mean all English prem games are televised live Worldwide. Why is this Rohr playing with this team.
I mean Victor Moses was the catalyst for our Qualifications for World Cup 2018 how, is this happening that a whole coach who watched them live will claim that the less influential player (Ighalo) in 2018 qualifiers and World Cup proper whose, position is covered in the current squad is needed more currently than the most influential player (Victor Moses) whose position is Seriously lacking in SE coupled with the fact that he is Versatile and still playing at the highest level this is mind boggling.
Victor Moses Is a creator and creates Goals out of Nothing what speciality is Ighalo bringing?, stand and wait for the ball play??. This is foolishness from Rohr really foolish. This has tampering written all over it and Rohr is getting something in his pocket to go along. There is no way in Victor Moses Current form that a coach searching for creativity and a good crossed coupled with experience will leave out Super Eagles most influentially experienced player who is active at the highest level. The other one that springs to mind is, Mikel Obi. Moses only just turned 30 last month Ighalo is almost 33. This is not fair on us fans we would have liked to see Moses wear this shirt Rohr doesn’t give a damm he has blended in well with the corrupt cronies in NFF.
*good crosser* typo
If them like make them recall John Utaka, e no concern me. Country must come first and not putting my like or dislike over a player before my country. I will always and forever support and wish my country well instead of looking out for her flop just because of one man whom we all feel shouldn’t have been invited. I have no other country. Nigeria is my beloveth country while super eagles is my only team. One love!
The Nigerian football authorities reached out to Moses but he choosed not to rescind his decision.
With the way they assail Ighalo, after all what he has done for the Country, Victor Moses was advised not to show up for the ingrates again.
You are making absolute sense. Na for Nigeria fans dey feel na dem love the team pass, yet it is possible many of them no dey even watch the team play.
Nicely bro, true talk
@Ugo, VM has stated categorically that he won’t rescind his Resignation, Rohr should trust the younger guys. So let’s move on from VM.
Emma Denis better than Simon? I disagree with you vehemently.
According to what criteria did you arrive at such frivolous conclusion?
Simon has been consistent for all his club games this season, played 11 matches and contributed to 6 goals in total (1 goal + 5 assists) while Dennis also contributed to 6 goals (3 goals + 3 assists). And 6 yellow cards in 9 Premier league games. However, that’s where the comparison ends. Simon was highly instrumental to his club performance last season and was rightly awarded the Nantes MVP for the season 2020/21 while Dennis was in the wilderness.
Simon has been a consistent member of SE for the past 6 years with 40 caps, 5 goals + 5 Assists and has been trusted by all SE coaches ever since his debut at Age of 19.
Dennis on the other hand had only 3 caps with no goal contribution since his debut 2 years ago at age of 21.
And report has it that his wayward manners (indiscipline) has already manifested with Rohr in the short stint with SE.
So if you are a sound coach, whom will you pick? Please answer this question with all honesty
@Dr Banks go and stidown… what wayward manners? He was invited for Super Eagles game and toldto drop to play U-23… a team that Rohr decided to eventually starve of players when he had the chance and they crashed out of olympic qualifiers… taking every tom, Dick and Harry to play lowly Lesotho away… Rohr is a quack! Mark my words anyday… a coach he refuses to tell himself the truth that he is inept choosing rather to blame young players as not being experienced enough… our players do well in club but mostly average when with SE… due to Rohr instructions!
Didn’t Osimhen and Awoniyi played for the U23? is Dennis bigger than Osimhen and Awoniyi? Abeg park somewhere joo. He was invited for the first time and he has already developed BIG HEAD, bigger than his coach, eye dey smell
….yeye del smell
Moses Simon that made 23 and 24 crosses in the home and away match against CAR respectively and none pass the first opponent is the one you call player? It took defenders (Awaziem and Ekong ) to make the two assists before we can score. Cross e no dey make, to dribble e hard for am, pass e no get, score no way. He is part of why we struggle to create chances in games.
Na wa for you oo..Mercy you get bad mouth no be small..chaii na our Moses Simon top player for Nantes na him you finish like this??haha no be small tin oo!
At last Rhor and NFF have succeeded in messing up the SE. And for Ighalo, he should be ready for serious bashing if he underperforms bcos i don’t know what he is doing in that list ? Any sane person not to mention of a Coach knows the problem of SE lies at the midfield. We don’t have that Ball carrier to pick out striker with quality passes in the final 3rd. Reason why our strikers keep struggling to score goals. Even Osimhen that has been managing to score is due to his strength, skills and pace all of which Ighalo lacks. No pace, he doesn’t even have Awoniyi strength, Goals scoring abilities. Rhor should channel his energy into looking for a natural playmaker else SE problem will never end. For now we have only Iwobi and Aribo that can do the job so why don’t he just use a single defensive midfielder Ndidi & let Aribo operate up the field to support Iwobi. 4-1-4-1 or 3-1-4-2 won’t be a bad idea. My own humble suggestion
No mind them ojare, it’s well
Definitely not what will be my list. But will always support our darling SE irrespective, while hoping it all pans out well. AUUUUUUUUURAAAA…….God bless only the deserving SE n expose anyone spreading cash. Salisu pls I NO CALL YOUR NAME OO.
E be like say bandits dey always threaten Rohr on top of shehu matter.this guy keeps getting call up without reason
Lmaoooooooo
People that desire to hug transformer because Rohr has invited Ighalo, I urge you to please have a rethink. No need to kill yourself over this.
Try to look at the situation from Rohr’s perspective.
The man is under unbelievable pressure to deliver. He is being owed salaries, but the fans don’t care about that. All they want is results.
Rohr is risk averse, understandably so, and cautious to a fault. His job and reputation are on the line, and he knows his haters will have a feast at his expense if he fails. So he has done his best to protect himself
Rohr has chosen the strikers that scored all our goals in recent matches – Osimhen, Iheanacho, Onuachu. The other strikers are good. They have been given a chance, but have not taken it. This is Super Eagles. When you get a chance, you need to take it with your hands and your feet. Refer to Ejuke’s performance when he got his chance.
Additionally, to further protect himself, Rohr has sought the services of a tried and tested marksman who excelled in the past. Arguably the deadliest forward in Africa in 2019 and 2020. We are in 2021. Surely, Ighalo still has a bit of the good stuff in him. His stats at Al-Shabab, plundering 9 goals in 10 matches, strongly suggest so. This is what Rohr is counting on.
Yes, we want to see the young lads strut their stuff. But a world cup qualifier is no place for the young and growing. It’s for the tried and tested, the big boys. The young boys will get their chance to shine in friendlies and other non-competitive games.
This squad looks up for the task ahead. Let’s get behind them!
@Pompei this has Tampering written all over it. Saudi Arabian League is as good as Sunday League football, players go there to Retire. Did you not see what happened to Ezekiel Imoh quality after he moved to Saudi Arabia at the tender age of 24yrs. Ezekiel was super talented went to Saudi and finished.
Ighalo on the other hand was already slowing down before he went to Saudi Arabia. This League should not be a League SE is fishing for Attackers. Ighalo doenst even rank as top 20 attackers in Africa. What is so special about Ighalo how many Afcons has he played??
Victor Moses makes more sense. Don’t underestimate the Gap between the Saudi League and Europe. Don’t. Like I said there is a reason Saudi Arabia always gets walloped 8-0 at World Cup and all the players are in That League even Egypt gave them 5-0 last World Cup and only Salah and Elneny were playing Europe.
Also Onuachu has been on doubt of late. Awoniyi is scoring more in a better league. Rohr is deluded and boring mo dynamism just backward thinking.
Awoniyi is like a baby without teeth and could not stand on his two feet when given the opportunity to play in the front of a home fans. Onuachu was injured the reason why Rohr brought Awo in. Liverpool would have retained him if was that terrific. The same can not be said about Chidera Ejuke. By the Grace of God, Chidera will be playing for Nigeria for a long time.
@Ugo, “Saudi Arabian League is as good as Sunday League football, players go there to Retire”.
Am sure you said the same thing when Ighalo was playing in China in 2019 but he came to SE and became the top goal scorer in both the AFCON Qualifier and the AFCON 2019 Tournaments, Salah, Mane and Mahrex no even try close to him.
@Dr Banks Thats my point in any sound coach’s mind if a player playing in China can come and be top goal scorer in AFCON. mind you the only reason is because we didn’t have a better option in a Top team, What will a Player Leading the line in aNig team like Napoli do and scoring? also what will a leading goal scorer in Germany do?. Can’t Rohr see that Ighalo exceled because he was shown confidence why not Show confidence in a Upgrade to Ighalo like Osimhen. Or is Rohr saying that Osimhen is not capable to fend off Average African Defenders. You see my problem is not Liberia or Lesotho or those kinds of team. My problem is Senegal, Algeria Egypts. Ighalo will be contained very easily mark my words. History has it as proof.

Again Osimhen and Iheanacho have been doing well in the Qualifiers it only makes sense that Awoniyi who is doing as well as them at Club Level is also there.
2 Big Mistakes Rohr made with this list
1. Shehu for Bassey
2. Dropping Awoniyi for Ighalo
3. Retaining Onuachu and Not Awoniyi
4. Not calling up Dennis
5. Not trying to convince VM like they went all out with Ighalo
Where is the priorities with the Management? ,Unless they are trying to tell us that we are blind in our assessment of the Team needing a creator is priority even if it is someonme like Moses who creates with verocity doen the flanks. I mean imagine having a team with Chukwueze and Victor Moses down the flanks with Emma Dennis or Chidera to Call upon . The level of play won’t drop and you can be sure that a Substitute can make something happen.
When Musa comes on of Late the Level of Play either drops or stays the same or even Regresses.
This is setting a bad presidence and is showing players that you don’t have to keep working hard. Onde good tournament and we will back you for life irrespective of your age or other players perfromance.
This team is Pinnick’s personal toy. We can now say SE belongs to Pinnick and Pinnick alone. He decides where we play (irrespective of the standard of pitch) and who gets called up to the national team. I mean which team in the world will not call up a player Competing with a 2 Ballon do’r Nominness for Golden boot in Germany and holding his own.
If Super Egales can pray to god and ask God to give us world Beaters like Osimhen, Awoniyo, Chukwueze Iheanacho and Co only to go back to Players who never attained the stature these lot have currently then why should God answer our Prayers for talents????.
Thanks @pompei exactly what i have echoed here the past couple of days.
Apparently just like pompei rightly said, the world cup playoffs is not something you handle with kids gloves otherwise you live to regret it.
World cup qualifiers is a very arduous, difficult rounds of playoffs which requires the best legs available. After qualifications are achieved the greenhorns will sure get a chance with the team in test games.
Hopefully we make it to the final rounds of the Africa world cup playoffs where you come across a very difficult opposition. You can tell the gaffer dont trust some of the young ones painting Europe red with goals,he tried one of them and wasn’t satisfied hence the call for Ighalo.Rohr wants to get qualifications in the bag first that’s what is more important and that’s what will keep his job.
So let’s support him and wish the super eagles success.
Rubbish list…
Wallahi this is the most frustrating list I have witnessed in entire rohr’s tenure with the super eagles so far!!!
I am very good to say that Rohr is taking a step forward and 2backwards… I had always believed that Rohr could always do better but I don’t know why all these are happening….Rohr invited CB the last time out and he didn’t cap him for us even if it is just one second in Cameroon, just yesterday CB churned out a wonderful outing with Rangers and made team of the week in the Scottish premier league. Rohr still decided that he won’t cap him yet for us??? If Nigeria should loose that guy to either Italy or England I will never forgive Rohr.
Now,I never forget but in a hurry the fact that ighalo’s 1st-10matches in the color of the super eagles his goals were not up to 3goals and they were spot kicks, Rohr had to be patient with him till he clicked and started scoring the goals mind you, then we didn’t have a suitable deputy compared to the availability of Osimehn now… Why can’t Rohr be patient with the likes of Awoniyi and terem moffi considering the fact
that Osimehnn, kelechi can deliver the goals…???
Guys! Abeg make una wait o! Is shehu better than ebuehi? Ebuehi has played about 75percent of venezia last one month matches and shehu has played about 50-60percent of omononia nicosia’s last one month mayches. Ebuehi is playing in the top5 league In Europe while shehu is said to be playing in the top 40leauge and who deserves better opportunity to be called up for national assignments this time around guys?
I noticed that Rohr is being over
careful and if care is not taken he will surely make mistakes as he lacks confidence in himself and some of the players he invited without giving them better time for a complete assessment.
I hope super eagles qualify us to the world cup eventually but Rohr is never near the very best we can have this time around and as for odion ighalo, you lied to the whole world and henceforth I will never take your words seriously, you lied by telling us that “I have never said yes or no” but while telling the world this you had already said and emphatic YES about your coming back to the super eagles..
Ighalo why lying while you had already agreed that Awoniyi and other should be dropped for you and i don’t think your coming back will add anything meaningful to the super eagles attack rather than you come and disgrace yourself again with your sluggish play….
If you want peace give out peace always; insult me and I will not reply you!
Shehu made the team for his abilities to play in multiple roles.
He can be deployed in the midfield and he gets the job done as well the defence.
Ebuehi is a fullback at best and we are not short in that department.
I understand the top 5 thing but Rohr is sticking with those he trusts players that have excelled with the super eagles over the years whose experience will count at the deep end of qualifications.
I wonder how shehu in Cyprus continues to bench Ebuehi who is playing in A more compete serie A. I guess the coach knows better.
Competitive* why not since his buddy Musa still keeps getting invites lol
Can Ebuehi play in DM if we should run into a DM crises like what happened in freetown…??? That is what we call comparative advantage. All things being equal, Ola starts at RB, if unavailable Awaziem…if you have to pick a 3rd full back, why not pick one (an experienced regular for that matter) that can play multiples roles.
You’re right we do have players that can fill the RB postion in case of any eventualities.
Dr. Drey,
The list has four (4) potential RBs in Aina, Awaziem, Akpoguma and Shehu. Akpoguma in particular has played as RB for the SE and currently plays as a right or left side midfielder for Hoffenheim (I have watched him play both recently). He can also play effectively as CB. And at 1.87m, he is also a lot taller than Shehu.
Shehu can only play 2 positions, RB and DM. So, in reality, Shehu is really redundant to the team.
No be Shehu bench Ebuehi but na Ola Aina and Akpoguma. Shehu will be useful in the midfield should any of the 5 get injured
Once again, let me remind naysayers that Rohr is unwilling to take risks at this time, for obvious reasons.
Those calling for Dennis, Sadiq, and co to be invited have a great point. All of us, myself included, wish for this.
However, these guys have not been tested in big match situations like we have coming up.
What if Dennis, for instance is invited, and flops? His confidence is destroyed, we end up at a disadvantage in the match, possibly failing to pick up important points, and fail to qualify for the world cup! That is a risk Rohr is not willing to take.
So Rohr has chosen the guys who delivered for him in the recent past, and who are still doing very well currently at their clubs. This are the best legs we have at the moment, as far as Rohr is concerned. He is employed to make these decisions, and he will swim or sink based on these decisions. So far, he has been swimming, at least his head is above water, with 34 wins and 13 losses from 62 matches, 55% win and 21% loss ratios. Not fantastic, but not too shabby either. This is what our money can buy.
Many of the uninvited lads are the future of the SE, and they will get their chance soon. However, a world cup qualifier is not an ideal scenario to try them. That might end up being a baptism of fire that they don’t survive.
And for those calling for Victor Moses, how can Rohr invite someone who is unwilling to come out of retirement?
Let’s secure the world cup qualification first. That is our top priority at the moment. Later, we can look at all our available options, try them in friendlies, and select the very best legs for the tournaments when the time comes.
@Pompei is there any bigger RISK than bringing an old bag of meat that couldn’t even score against Argentina and Algeria when we needed him most in the world cup and Afcon respectively??. And leaving out a Player fighting for Golden boot with Robert Lewondoski?? Who is in Better shape and sharper as an attacker, A player being Marked by German Internationals Max Hummels, Canadian star Alphonso Davies and scoring, or an attacker been Marked by Sunday League players who do you honestly think will be sharper????
Can’t we see that Ighalo had reached his limit in that Algeria Game. Where as Victor Osimhen is a Modern day striker and adds a completely different dynamics to this team
Keep fooling yourself by thinking that taking Ighalo is not the biggest Risk Rohr can make. This is Risk defined.
For goodness sake all this cruciak misses he was missing in the World Cup and Afcon then was happening when he was younger and faster and playing at a higher standard. What makes you think an older version of him playing in a league where he is not even being tested will come and do better than a player Osimhen who would have buried those chances Ighalo was fluffing at the World Cup. And latched on to this long balls Ighalo’s slow legs where struggling to reach against Algeria. I mean, Ndidi even played a Through ball where Ighalo Had a yard on the Center defender but Algerian defender just brushed him aside like paper.
*Crucial* excuse the typical lads. I am typing in frustration this list has upset me.
I see the bigger picture. They now know they can get away with this. Don’t worry Michael Babatunde will make the list ahead of Ejuke come World Cup watch.
Any player invited is a risk. The idea is to minimize risk. Reduce it as much as possible. The same Awoniyi you mentioned that is competing with Lewandowski in Germany, and destroying center-backs like Mark Hummels as you said, was nowhere to be found against CAR in almost 180 minutes of football! Even missing open net!
I’m not saying Awoniyi is not good. He is a great striker in the making. Just not the best we have for now, according to Rohr.
Taiwo Awoniyi only played 20+ minutes in his debut against a team packed at the back in front of an unforgiving Lagos crowd…….Even Ronaldo might not score in such a scenerio……Why do we raise the standard for players we don’t want in the team but lower the standard for players we want in the team?…..Did Ighalo score on his SE debut?…haba
Awo is good enough. l am sorry to bust your bobble.
@Akp, Awoniyi played 49 mins of football in that match, he replaced Iheanacho at the beginning of 2nd half
Lobatan o. @Pompei, are you joking or what lolz?
Were you expecting Awoniyi to score against CAR when our midfield already collapsed?
Osimhen worked too hard that day because of wrong tactics of our world class coach.
Please blame nobody in that match in Lagos but Oga Rohr.
From the kick of the match to the end, Mr. Rohr looked worried and the cameraman keep showing Oga Rohr face and now, you are blaming the innocent man, Awoniyi for no reason.
Let me here from Please Pompei.
Are we on track with Oga Rohr?
Can Nigeria win something bigger than tea cup with Oga Rohr?
Please let me hear from you my man. God bless Nigeria!!!
Pompei,
Your comments about Awoniyi are totally false. He came in as a sub for an ineffective Iheanacho in the second half of the 1st CAR match and upped the tempo of the attack.
The so-called miss that people are harping about was a goal bound deflection off the leg of the last CAR defender, with the keeper beaten. Osimhen missed something similar (but much less difficult than Awoniyi’s) in the 2nd leg, but everyone seems to give him a free pass for that empty netter.
Go and rewatch the match again, please.
Well said. Your football knowledge and writeups makes sense to me. No sentiments attached. Period.
SUPER EAGLES BLACK LIST NWAKAEME AFTER HE REFUSED THEM TO MANAGE HIM – BROTHER.
Dickson Nwakaeme has alleged that younger brother Antony Nwakaeme has been overlooked by the Super Eagles because he refused some officials to act as his agents.
Trabzonspor winger Nwakaeme has only a cap for the Super Eagles.
Dickson Nwakaeme, who also played professionally in Europe and Asia before he quit the game, has now accused officials for overlooking his brother for the national team after he rejected an offer to act as his agents.
“They wanted to manage him and he refused,” Nwakaeme senior told Eagles Tracker in a YouTube interview.
“We don’t use managers (agents) because I suffered a lot at their hands, they do more harm than good.
“Football in Nigeria is big corruption, big politics and it’s killing the football.”
The older Nwakaeme further alleged that on the back of this refusal his brother was set up to fail on his Eagles debut against Algeria in 2017 as he was played as a striker when he is usually a winger.
He said currently Anthony Nwakaeme is doing far better than Ahmed Musa in Turkey, yet it’s the Super Eagles captain who gets to be called up regularly.
“My brother is doing 20 times what Ahmed Musa is doing in Turkey and yet it’s Ahmed Musa who is called up to the Eagles,” Dickson Nwakaeme said.
“The national team is nobody’s birth right even if you are captain and you are not doing well.”
Yeye talk by his brother, ignore
@Abdul Handsy Bros Gof bless you, whom so ever insults you for this most honest and straight forward assessment of everything we can clearly see then that Person really needs to question thier love for Nigeria football. Rohr is taking us very backward with this list. I MEAN is it not the same Ighalo who missed am open goal against Argentina in a game we need to win. Last game of the group??.
So we have all forgotten so soon how it is clear that Ighalo has a limit. Yoy put him against a certain type of Defender he can do absolutely nothing. Where as Victor Osimhen is another kettle of fish. I mean you drop Taiwo Aw0niyi for Ighalo who we already know can do nothing against a big team in Africa or Europe. Where as Taiwo like any other player just needs a few run of games. To get in the groove.
You so rightly stated that there has never been this much competition for attacking positions in SE ever. And now we looking for Ighalo. When Ighalo was Osimhen Age he couldn’t even break into the SE. Now we have a 22 year old world beater and we calling Ighalo?. All I can say is wow. Absolutely wow. Watch come World Cup if Onazi doesn’t make this squad call me a liar.
It is painful Roher doesn’t not hear english, he will never listen to we. Sorry next time. He is good for Nigeria anyway.
1. Rohr is already allowing the Nigerian corruption to get at him. Something is just not right. The drama before the list came out is the Nigerian foolishness at work.
2. Rohr is not sincere with this. I wonder why he putting ighalo where he does not belong. Is ighalo that type of striker that is out of this world? No no.
3. The truth will surely unfold very soon.
4. Let’s wait to see what ighalo will do for him. He will score plenty goals.
5. So we won’t have the opportunity to see what sadiq can do. What about dessers. So awoniyi does not deserve another chance.
6. Them rohr has been lying when he was telling us about the need for our players to play in top 5 leagues. So the retired player in Saudi will do a better job than the awoniyi that is doing a great job in Germany. Who will save the country?
7. Rohr is confused and he needs help.
Shebi you refuse to read my comments because of our world class coach Oga Rohr and NFF ONIGBESE but now you are complaining?
You even suggested that people should stop reading my comments on this platform but now you know and your eyes open wella walla abi?
You think Oga Rohr and Amaju Pinnick cares about you and I?
Do you think that NFF will invite our best players to camp?
Do you still believe Oga Rohr is the best for the job?
You see gentleman, to get everything right in this country, we have to kick the bad people out of our system first.
Amaju is definitely in charge of this team and other carbals are working behind the scenes.
Oga Rohr is a joker and he will tarnish Nigeria image before he step down.
This is why I am deeply sorry for Oga Rohr fans. Deep down inside them, they know that Oga Rohr is not the right person to manage Super Eagles but they keep backing him.
It is too late to take any action and I hope you and others will learn one or two things from this.
I don’t hate Oga Rohr but he is not good enough to do the job period.
The level of corruption is very high.
Ighalo is in and Awoniyi is out Kai.
Ebuehi is out. Micheal is out. Onyekuru is out. Dessers is out and Akpeyi is in. Ighalo is in. This is not right.
NFF left out our best players and don’t be surprised if Eagles do not play as a team under Oga Rohr.
Hopefully Nigeria will qualify to the world cup. Something is fishy about the list. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
It is highly unlikely that Ighalo will bench Osimhen.
Ighalo is there for 2 scenarios:
1) If Osimhen is injured
2) If we need to play 2 strikers
In both scenarios, Ighalo is still not guaranteed for selection. He is just an option that Rohr desires to have.
Osimhen remains the undisputed top striker for the SE. The others are all there to assist him. The team is bigger than any individual. Working together, they maximize their chances of success.
My suggested starting line up, a 3-4-3 formation:
Okoye
Akpoguma, Ekong, Balogun
Aina, Ndidi, Iwobi, Sanusi
Chukwueze, Osimhen, Ejuke
Good lineup but I won’t leave Awaziem in a back three formation.
I think Collins has been fantastic thus far for both club and country respectively,so for now he remains our first choice left back.
With the return of Chukwueze,Iwobi,Ndidi we might play a different system.
However,Iwobi’s performances on the right side midfield in the absence of Chukwueze was breathtaking because he contributed a lot to the midfield play whereas Chukwueze only play from the flank and predictably cut in rather than cross to his teammates.
I have to disagree Chidozie Awaziem is one of the best Wing back players we have he is sound in defending and attacks well. He is way better than Shehu and even Collins
@Ugo Iwunze,Like you didn’t understand my post.I said I won’t leave Awaziem better put I won’t leave him out in a back three meaning he would make my pick in a back 3 formation.
Gernot Rohr has made good on his recent statements on Ighalo by inviting the incumbent Afcon highest goals scorer to the squad for November world cup qualifiers.
It was always going to be a controversial invitation, one that generated heated talking points prior to the current squad release and sure to sustain the conversations way into the future (regardless of how well Ighalo justifies his selection).
Taiwo Awoniyi (who has continued to take defences to the cleaners with glorious goals in Germany after the last set of qualifiers) would be feeling hard done by to have been jettisoned for Ighalo. Should Ighalo play well, Awoniyi’s next Super Eagles invitation is anyone’s guess.
Aside the Ighalo soap opera, the list itself threw up few surprises as Rohr stuck with his tried and tested Generals. Having said that, a bevy of Super Eagles supporters are left dismayed and disappointed by certain exclusions.
For instance, Ebuehi who plays in Italy appears more deserving of an invitation compared to Shehu who plays in Cyprus. Dennis Bonaventure continues to be kept out in the cold despite headline-grabbing performances in England whilst another opportunity to cap-tie Rangers’ left back Calvin Bassey has been shunned.
In all, I think it is a killer squad. You have Ighalo’s experience complementing Osihmen’s youth and exuberance up front with Iwobi making a return to add creativity to the midfield which will be shored up by the discipline of Onyeka, the poise of Aribo and the solidity of Ndidi.
At the back, the recently rejuvenated Oyinbo wall have the capable support, class and finesse of the likes Aina and Akpoguma as fullbacks whilst not leaving out the guile and versatility of Awaziem.
Okoye, who has been in inspired form in club football recently, would want to be in post for both games so he will arrive on time to camp. If not, Uzoho (whose low drive save in the Uefa conference league competition was recognised and acknowledged by Uefa on a twitter montage recently) is waiting on the wings to profit and slowly claim back his shirt.
I am very much excited about this squad. I think it is a healthy mixture of youth and experience across all departments with tried, tested and proven big game players and game changers.
Those excluded players will only have to wait for their time to come. Gernot Rohr has made a huge call and edged his bet on rehashing methods and personnel that worked for him in the past.
Not to forget, Coach Salisu Yusuf will be back in the Super Eagles dugout for the first time since being reinstated after serving his punishment for bribery scandal.
The future looks bright as Rohr should now be in more familiar territory.
Oh, sorry. Pls take it easy after all there is another time to advise him. Never mind Roher Joo.
I feel bad for the lad Calvin Bassey. He is such a talent. I agree that we need to blood him asap. Hopefully, a more suitable opportunity like a friendly or a dead rubber will come up soon.
Rightly said @pompei.Bassey was tremendous against Motherwell. His intensity and crosses was unbelievable.Yet he wasn’t found wanting in defence duties.
Its a shame we have to leave him out not because of his abilities rather consideration at this crucial stages are for the tried and trusted, players proven to be effective and reliable.
Bassey and other young players left out would get a chance to be part of the team as we prepare for the Afcon in test games pre nations cup camping. The two best of the three left backs would pick itself after camping hostilities.
Exactly, Greenturf. That Bassey knows how to deliver crosses into the box. Our strikers, especially Onuachu, would love playing with Bassey!
Exactly!@pompei
The future of the Super Eagles is not looking bright at all as long as Oga Rohr and Amaju still in charge of our football.
Deo, I just have a question for you. The way you see things now, do you think Oga Rohr can build this team?
Yes or no? Over the five years of the manager, here we are and you are still saying the future looks bright. Really?
The future looks great but the coach kicked out Awoniyi and he replaced him with Ighalo.
The future looks good, he kicked Ebuehi out of the team.
The future looks bright, Dessers, Nwakali, Nwobodo, Dennis and Kayode stand no chance and you are still saying the future looks bright? Why are we like this kę Nigerians.
Can’t we call a spade a spade ni? Well, time will tell. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
Omo9ja
I don’t think Rohr is looking to build. He is looking to qualify for World Cup and win an AFCON.
Omo9ja,
The future looks bright because the players not considered on this occasion will have their time.
With the healthy blend of youth and experience of this squad, I believe they can get the right results to secure safe passage to the next round of qualifiers.
What was the achievement of the experienced players in the team at the last Afcon Deo?
Oga Rohr can never improve this team.
What has he learned since last world cup?
As long as Mr. Rohr stays, no hope for Super Eagles to win anything.
I repeat, the gaffer got nothing left to offer Super Eagles case closed. God bless Nigeria!!!
@Deo.
The best uplifting write-up I have read with the ongoing team selection arguments and counter arguments. You’re a true optimistic Super Eagles fan. I rate you bro.
Good lucky super eagles. Gone were the days that you see matches on TV, these days it’s with miracle to watch matches even the one play at our backyard.
For the choice of players invited for this qualifier, I hope the returning retired bang jn an hat trick, and in General we should win the match with a very wide margin, you cant have all these deadly strikers and come back home with just 0-4 lol
Stream live SE matches at hesgoal.com…..thank me later
thanks bro…but, joke apart should we be doing streamings to watch our sailing super eagles?? these and a few things are what is currently uniting us together in this country and as such it shouldn’t degenerate to this level of streaming…massive data will go for it, you can’t even enjoy I as we watch the EPL and laliga, not every Nigerians will have access to it.
If Ighalo gets a chance to play against Liberia and/or Cape Verde, he just might score. If he does, he should dedicate it to UGO IWUNZE 🙂 🙂 🙂
I support your views.
@Ugo Iwunze I pity you as it appears you were in another Planet and just woken up to follow Nigerian football; otherwise how could you have shown surprised with the recalled of Igalo and omission of Victor Mosses ? The real Man in charge of Super eagles (NFF have said it even to the deaf ♂️ that he is bringing back Igalo from retirement few weeks ago ; does he mention Victor Mosses ? ) The day Oga Rohr stand on his own , is when he will be kicked out.
In any case , though I am never an admirer of NFF lead Chairman ; but what you cannot take away from the present NFF is for once , proving @Dr Drey & co wrong and rubbished their theory for advocating for white man Technical Adviser Rohr as against Nigerian born coaches and Ex-International for that matter.
They claimed Local coaches brought themselves low by staying on the job while being owed , and that NFF dare not owe the white coach salary ( Now , we know better , the type of the so called White Coach we have in Oga Rohr , who have been humbled with 8 Months unpaid salary before his paymaster showed mercy to pay him few months);
NFF cannot imposed players on white coach or base his team selection on sentiment ( Now we know better as NFF have proven without hidden who is in charge of team decisions on which players to bring to Super Eagles ; today if Musa did not kick ball for half a year ; his shirt is guaranteed, even if he played in our league that has been once written off by Dr Drey & co with a claim there can never be any good player in the local league). Even though no one cannot rule out that Igalo could have also spoken the Nigerian currency language to Oga Rohr ( can you blame a coach that is humbled with accumulated of unpaid salary ; if he decided to bow to official & hard currency pressure ?);
Just as PMB was exposed by given the mandate to rule Nigeria for two terms ; otherwise , his propagandists would have said Nigeria would have become Dubai of this world.
Thank God that NFF gave renewed Oga Rohr contract, otherwise his supporters wouldn’t have been humbled to note that , with our NFF it is like “Foreign” like Local ; there is nothing special in our Oga Rohr that has been building a team for more than 5 years without one a standing team , but blame game every time.
The lesson to learn is, we should rather hired own locals if we can’t afford to pay a quality world class Technical adviser , but not the one that would be taken all manner of shit from NFF , and the one that would be perpetually tutored by local coaches of other African countries as Belmadi of Algeria local coach never stop to teach our Oga Rohr rudimentary of football coaching
You are getting it all wrong, Rohr has been saying it long before now that he will love to have Ighalo back in the team, especially at the time he was in Man U. Unfortunately Covid-19 came and scuttled his plan to convince him.
So it wasn’t Pinnick’s idea but Rohr’s original idea.
It is well, take heart.
I don’t just see any thing in this list…. this is just a political list…
He’s my man. I told him what to write, I will tell him to write another list for you. Remain peaceful. Will you?
How can a blind man see nah?
Enough of this wailing and gnashing of teeth. Ighalo is back. No amount of wailing will remove his name from that book of Rohr. Honestly, when I heard about the second coming of Ighalo, I was indifferent. I told myself if he came back fine, if he doesn’t come back, fine.
But from my observation which I have shared on this platform before, Ighalo is different from the other strikers we have currently. Let me use Osimhen as an example. Osimhen shoots at the least opposition. That is, if he has one marker on him, instead of looking for a trick or two to outwit the marker, he would rather shoot than outwit the opponent to stand a better chance to score. That is why you see him sometimes shooting from a very tight angle that you are sure, he can never score from. As a result, he misses a lot of chances in SE, hitting woodwork and making close calls most of the time. But all these could be avoided, if he could learn to manoeuvre defenders a bit, in other to be better placed to score. The truth is that, not all chances are clear cut chances. Some are half-cut, as a striker, it is your duty to dress it well and make it count. You don’t just shoot anyhow, just because a defender is on your trail. Do something about the situation that will increase the chances of scoring. This clip below is an example of what I was talking about. When the defender was on Ighalo’s trail, he could have taking a wild shot, which nobody knows the outcome,…..he didn’t. Rather he maneuvered the defender, thereby increasing his chances of scoring.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Sdw0ysPlv2I
The SECOND COMING OF IGHALO – hehehehehe! Impressive.
You forgot the Services is what created that Goal. I have seen Osimhen Turn Gerogio CHellini Easily so this is not special coupled with tha fact that it was almost 5 years ago now. So what is your point. Ighalo doesn’t have that same speed anymore
I credit that goal to Mikel
This team will fail to qualify for the world cup, because the coach is clueless. Players that are not in form are being invited to camp. We can get away with it now but not in the final qualifiers.
Interesting reactions to Rohr’s list all the way. This is expected anyways.
Rohr has done what many right thinking coaches in his shoes will do, if you ask me. It is bad enough that we lost 3 valuable points to CAR unexpectedly, so I guess we allow the NFF and Rohr to deploy every weaponry in their arsenal in their bid to qualify for the world cup playoffs.
As much as I love Awoniyi, Sadiq, Dennis, Dessers & Co, I must agree with Rohr on his resolve to leave them out at the moment. The dynamics of National team football is totally different from that of club football.
At club level matches are played twice a week and in a season some clubs play up to 60 or more matches depending on how far they go in cup and continental competitions. This isn’t the case with national teams where it takes about 5yrs of being a consistent starter to amass 40caps.
The frequency of matches in club football helps a player’s integration and development, but there’s no luxury of time or matches for integration and development in national team, hence the need to deploy tested and trusted players in a coach’s fold during important matches.
Friendly matches and dead rubbers are the opportunities coaches use in testing new invitees, but how often do these opportunities come by?
Ighalo has been consistent in front of goal, he’s got enough experience and I dare say that when it comes to hold up play, no player in the current Super Eagles set up is better than Ighalo (I stand to be corrected please). Osimhen is our undisputed No 9 at the moment and I must also say that no defence in the world will be happy to play against Osimhen at the moment. He’s almost unstoppable in the box. However let’s ask ourselves what happened against CAR and why did Osimhen not score or provide an assist in that game?
Osihmen’s game thrives on speed, space and doggedness and when a team packs the bus like CAR did, it becomes extremely difficult for such a player to operate at optimal level. On the contrary, Ighalo’s game thrives on strength, stamina, dribbling, hold up play and ruggedness, qualities that are mostly required in African football, especially against lowly rated teams like CAR that will pack the bus. Amongst the attackers dropped from that list, Dessers seems to me the closest to Ighalo in terms of those qualities, also Moffi and Awoniyi, but unfortunately none of the trio have been fully integrated into the fold, for obvious reasons.
Rohr has consistently spoken about his desire to have Ighalo in his squad, not to displace Osimhen like some insinuate, but to have an option in terms of a different quality that may be brought in when things become crunchy on African soil. This isn’t about obsession, but I say it’s about trust. At least the same Rohr benched Ighalo to start Onuachu against Burundi at the last AFCON, but when the push came to shove we all know what happened.
As far as Africa is concerned, Ighalo doesn’t have anything to prove, having led the scorers chart on the continent in 2018 & 2019. Like Rohr, I will rather have a proven quality of Ighalo’s status at national team level for crucial matches than have other talented players that still need time and more matches to prove themselves in the national team.
The return of Salisu Yusuf for me is another pointer to the fact that NFF & Rohr aren’t leaving any stone unturned in their bid to scale the next hurdle. Putting his dirty past aside, I think Salisu brings something valuable to the table, going by the cordial working relationship he had with Rohr and the results they achieved together, compared with results under Imama & recently, Yobo. The man has served his punishment and I believe he’s learnt his lessons, hence we shouldn’t throw the baby away with the bathwater.
Whatever happens let’s support our Super Eagles and hope they make us proud.
Greetings to all forumites, especially the ones that makes this forum interesting; Deos, Pompei, Dr Drey, Greenturf, OmoNaija and my regular antagonist Jimmyball. Love you all.
Lest I forget we haven’t heard from Mr Hush in a while, hope you’re good.
Great submission as always OmoEsan, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thank you.
Well said, OmoEsan. Cogent delivery, articulate as always.
Indeed, Mr. Hush has been AWOL for a while. We hope to hear from him soon.
Folks, if you don’t like Odion, deal with it. There is nothing you can do. Nigerians loves him. Rohr loves him too. Ighalo is back. The whole Edo people and Ajagunla part of Lagos loves Ighalo too much God is good always. Amen. It was a bad day for Liberian coach when the list was released earlier today.
Point of correction my lovely friend Edoman. We love Ighalo as a person but as a footballer, his style of play is not suitable for Super Eagles period.
If it is because of Super Eagles is not scoring that much the gaffer brought Ighalo back, Oga Rohr will regret his actions.
I can guarantee you that Dessers will get the job done for Nigeria if Super Eagles have a play maker.
I can guarantee you that Dennis or Kayode/Sodiq/Awoniyi are the better options for this team if we have a distributor in the team.
It is not about Ighalo will score more goals am talking about here. Ighalo wasn’t in the team but Nigeria have qualified to another Afcon without him.
Why now that Nigeria is topping their group and the coach decided to bring Ighalo back?
Is anyone helping Osimhen at Napoli to score goals?
You don’t build a team like. Oga Rohr should step away from Super Eagles. That is just it.
The issue of Super Eagles is beyond what you think. I won’t say more than that. God bless Nigeria!!!
Oh! Dear, I couldn’t sleep through the night, the comments enh? Good luck to Rohr and his team.
What time is the Nov. 13th match self?
5pm local time.
Rohr, that ya list go blind people o!
Even if I have my reservation about the list, especially the invitation of Ighalo, I have no choice but to support the team.
I might be reading this wrong but honestly, all this list tells me is that Rohr is panicking. And that shows lack of confidence. The loss to CAR has made him doubt himself and as such deflecting that doubt on the players. He has cracked under pressure.
I only hope for the sake of this good country, Rohr’s plans succeed. He can be fired and leave if we fail to win the Afcon or go to the world cup but leaves a nation in pain at his wake.
But that’s my two cent ; for now my full support to the team and we remain positive.
Much salutations to @OmoEsan and @Pompei; I am with the house. Enjoy reading from you
Ighalo or not. May Jehovah grants the coaches and players required wisdom, discipline and abilities to scale through this narrow paths. Amen.
I can only the support.
Am a die hard fan of GR but it’s now obvious to me that GR has done his best for Nigeria n needs to be relieved of his duties,
1 take a look at his list we can’t win d nations cup with defenders like balogun n omeruo, ekong, balogun has passed his prime like wise omeruo, ekong is just an average defender,no new defenders to compete with them can this guy’s face Salah n co,during friendlies GR will use same players n tag it team bonding n nation or world cup qualifier he will still use same players n tag it competitive match,if not for covid 19 we will still be begging for ejuke to be invited, for d past five years he has been with the team nothing to show for it n yet he tag it young team guys who is fooling who?fans will come here n be praising him for keeping mute n playing along with NFF despite NFF owing him months logs of salaries, guys if u surpport evil that same evil will come back to overwhelm u,let us all speak up n tell nff that what they are doing is bad n blast GR for keeping quiet,if he can play along with NFf that means he is even more dangerous than d NFF,oliseh sacrificed his job for such things to stop n for NFF to follow international best practices we all condemed him out of sentiment now look were we are today,I rest my case God bless Nigeria
Everything will be ok, it is well.
Please let not bring confusion into the forum. You can use another name. Guys disregard the comment not from me.
You Oga Rohr fans are just started. You haven’t seen anything yet bro. Many of you called me so many names on this forum. Fool, anti-Rohr, internet coach, hater and so on but today, you people are guilty of you decisions.
Now, you are complaining. It is too late sir. Yes it is. I am proud of myself and we patriotic Nigerians for telling Oga Rohr and his employer the very bitter truth.
Since you Oga Rohr followers claims our world best coach is the best for the job then fingers crossed. God bless Nigeria!!!
I dont know why this coach is drawing this team backwards, you invite ighalo in place of awoniyi! The rohr of old is definitely more forward thinking than this rohr.
The old rohr kept looking for young talents and capping them but this rohr is still hanging on to player whose best days are behind them.
I guess ighalo will be on the bench whule Osimhen starts and he will come in for the last 5 or 10mins. I dont recall know the direction this coach is taking this team.
Most of the times, some of us think we are so logical in our reasoning but we are actually not. If you think so deeply, you will know why Ighalo is needed in this team. Yes, there are Osimhen, Awoniyi, Onuachu and the likes, some of which are capable of getting things done. Without doubt, we all know Osimhen will always lead the attack. He has earned that position and trust because he has passion and the mental capabilities to lead any attack of any team in the world. Onuachu was believed to have all it takes to be a deserving deputy to Osi bobo, but you and I know he hasn’t really lived upto expectation.
Though, Rohr could place an imaginary trust in Awoniyi or Dessers, but considering the time frame between now and January, I don’t think there are enough games to get Awoniyi gel into that team. Moreover, we don’t even know if he has the passion and the mental capability to hold that responsibility. Please note, only few players replicate their club forms for country. Hence, Odion Ighalo has proven in the past he can rescue the team when he’s needed. He currently plays in Saudi, which is not so convincing, but if he still has the passion for this country I think the would be a reliable deputy to Osi bobo.
On the other hand, my major concern is mainly the midfield, I think the team desperately needs a better play maker. Iwobi has been sparingly used in this position, but we won’t get away with a better opposition. However, I don’t think we currently have anyone better than him anywhere in the world right now. And please don’t mention Iwakali or Ejaria, they are not upto the task. The former is not even starting for a Spanish second division team and the latter still needs a bit of time. All these are my opinions though
I have read all the comments here and say what. I have two questions, is Ighalo still playing active football and banging goals? When did he retire and how old is he?
My own point is do we really want to go to the WC or not, if we want to go I will think we have to support the gaffer & his decisions. The buck stops at his table anyway. Ighalo has done so much for him in the past and is still banging the goals in Saudi even on the verge of winning the league with his unfancied team, I think they are 2nd. We all knew how we wrote him off after the match against Arg at the WC as if he will be the 1st and last to lose a chance. He came back and justified himself by being the highest goal scorer in both the 2019 Afcon qualifiers and the Afcon itself. I am convinced the treatment the fans meted out to him including threats to his family necessitated his sudden retirement.
Rohr has always maintained he wanted Ighalo esp when he was at Man U and this he has confirmed after the CAR debacle.
Let me conclude by saying Sweden brought back Zlatan Ibrahimovic after 5years in March and would have been at last Euros but for injury. Zlatan is 40 and Ighalo 8yrs younger so what offense has Rohr commited not when Ighalo is the highest scorer in his league. Even Asamoah Gyan at his prime was playing in the middle east.
Let’s cut Rohr some slack joor and move on.
While people who’re raising the most dust on this matter have some merits in their argument, their points are largely driven by sentiments – sentiment to see their favourite players on the field of play, sentiment to prove Rohr is confused (I’m not 100% sold on his depth of technical abilities myself, but I think I understand his actions at this point and fully support him. ALL DIFFERENCES ASIDE. ALL HANDS ON DECK).
Let’s put this in perspective and picture yourself in Rohr’s and Pinnick’s shoes as you prepare for the last 2 crucial, must-succeed business situations. We all have worked with teams, machines and tools. We know the strength and weaknesses of each (inexperience is also a weakness). You know who or what can help you get the job done in certain circumstances. And you know crucial situations when you need OLD HANDS (even though 2019 is not old) – ABSOLUTELY NO EXPERIMENTING. Little or no margin of error.
Some of us are managers running departments or teams. Some might even own companies or businesses. Let’s assume there’s a critical job to do that’ll determine the fortunes (money earned, bottom line) and reputation of the business or establishment.
Let’s zero in on a hospital. It has taken a hit in the most recent past for unsuccessful operations. Maybe it has even be sued by some prominent families over the death of their loved ones. Now, you’re in a cul de sac. As the CMD, you have a major surgery to perform. The governor is watching. You have young, brilliant doctors who you hope will gets lots of experience with you as the years roll by. But you also remember specialist surgeons you’ve worked with in the past. Some of them might not even be in the same state as you or might be retired. But you know recalling them reduces the risk and increases the chances of you keeping your job and reputation. And your governor and fans will be happy too.
Awoniyi, Desserts, Bonke, Dennis, Calvin Bassey, Kalu, Ebuehi (this guy should be in, in place of Shehu) – plus Lookman, Ejaria, Nwobodo, Kingsley & co will get their chances when the stakes are lower during camping for AFCON. After all, the final list has been expanded to 28.
Even Liberia is recalling old horses from 2019 as suddenly, after the CAR loss, the rest 3 teams believe they can win the group. This is the war of Sparta, only your war-tested men are invited.
You think CV will be coming to Lagos for a draw? No, they’ll be planning for a win. After CAR did it and they (CV) would need a win right here in Lagos to edge Nigeria to the group’s sole ticket to the 2nd round. Impossible is nothing.
I’m pretty certain that baring any injuries all the 24 players will make the AFCON squad. We will add 4 more players to complete the 28 man squad for the battle in Cameroon. A 40 man list has been mandated by CAF and I’m absolutely certain the likes of Awoniyi will be on that list. Therefore, no need to panic. The coach have pitched his tent with mostly players he has been working with over the last 3 years since the WorldCup in Russia.
This is a very balanced list if you ask me. A very experienced squad under him so far that he feels can get the job done for him. If he’s successful afterwards he will get all the credit and vice versa if it’s the opposite. I just have to wish the team all the best. I like the return of Iwobi, Chukwueze and Ndidi. I hope they all stay fit especially for the AFCON.
If I have to select my best 11 based on form and pedigree I will go for
Okoye
Akpoguma Ekong Balogun Zaidu
Ndidi Onyeka
Iwobi Aribo
Osimhen Iheanacho
A 4-2-2-2 formation that can metamorphose into a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 or perhaps a traditional 4-4-2 with options aplenty on the bench. Iwobi Aribo and iheancho or Chukwueze will surely create chances for Osimhen while Ndidi and Onyeka protects the Oyinbo wall and Zaidu and Akpoguma or Aina running the flanks. However, whoever makes the list and can fight for a shirt in a 40 man SuperEagles list must be ready to deliver when given the opportunity. We don’t have time to be testing players at this point.
This method of already knowing the squad before the tournament will breed incompetence and mediocrity……No player should be assured of his shirt…..At least invite 40 let them train hard in camp and give everyone an equal chance……. There should be a competitive environment let the selected ones earn it through training harder and working harder……. Like I have always said Nigerians Excell in a competitive environment…….Infact we are used to a competitive environment in our everyday life……. Competition drives us to success and Stephen keshi did exactly that in 2013 and it paid off even with less talented and prepared SE then……..Now we are more talented than ever and we are stronger but no pressure on the team……..The drive and hunger is not there even though we are more organized and coordinated now thanks to Coach Rhor……The players need to be unleashed……they need to be provoked…….they need a driving force……And all this will start by giving them a competitive environment.
Can’t Rohr see that Ighalo exceled because he was shown confidence why not Show confidence in a Upgrades to Ighalo like Osimhen and Awoniyi. Or is Rohr saying that either is not capable to fend off Average African Defenders (Koulibaly the Exception). You see my problem is not when we meet Liberia or Lesotho or those kind of teams. My problem is Senegal, Algeria the Egypts of this world. Ighalo will be contained very easily like he always is against good defenders mark my words. History has it as proof.
Again Osimhen and Iheanacho have been doing well in the Qualifiers it only makes sense that Awoniyi who is doing as well as them at Club Level is also there.
5 Big Mistakes Rohr made with this list
1. Shehu for Bassey
2. Dropping Awoniyi for Ighalo
3. Retaining Onuachu and Not Awoniyi
4. Not calling up Dennis
5. Not trying to convince VM like they went all out with Ighalo
Where is the priorities with the Management? ,Unless they are trying to tell us that we are blind in our assessment of the Team needing a creator is priority even if it is someone like Moses who creates with velocity down the flanks.
This is setting a bad precedence and is showing players that you don’t have to keep working hard. One good tournament and we will back you for life irrespective of your age or other players performance.
This team is Pinnick’s personal toy. We can now say SE belongs to Pinnick and Pinnick alone. He decides where we play (irrespective of the standard of pitch) and who gets called up to the national team. I mean which team in the world will not call up a player Competing with a 2 Ballon do’r Nominees for Golden boot in Germany and holding his own.
If Super Eagles can pray to god and ask God to give us world Beaters like Osimhen, Awoniyo, Chukwueze Iheanacho and Co only to go back to Players who never attained the stature these lot have currently then why should God answer our Prayers for talents????.
Beating a little child has never been an accomplishment, but stopping the child from crying is the issue.
Nigerians demanded a list from Coach Rohr and he has delivered. Obviously, he is not expected to satisfy the whims and caprices of everyone and no one is expected to have all the players dear to his heart on the list. Even my wish to have Ebuehi, Awoniyi, Bassey and few others was not met but here I am magnanimous in the situation. Ok, Bassey, I watched his last game and had asked, Rohr, why not Bassey? Awoniyi has been scoring goals in Die Bundesliga even competing with the BundesLiga highest goal scorer, again I asked myself, Rohr, why not Awoniyi? Ebuehi’s case though quite clear(I will never support dropping Aina), but Ebuehi deserves a place on the bench because of his consistency and flair for the round leather and incase Aina is incidented, we need a better option. Coach Rohr, pls, take note.
Anything Odion now runs into more than a-100 comments while some hardly gather 5. So, in a speed I browsed through. It is obvious some of us are disappointed and at the same breath have taken solace in the submissions of those who have chosen to carry on with SE list.
My advise to coach Rohr is to work on his session structure like game training session, invitation schedule (because we no longer have much time), session on warm up, training and positioning since he has many players at his disposal. How many days of training before the 11th match and what time should be allotted to the various session schedule. These are the germain issues. Let’s take it from there.
Ighalo will fail Woefully it has been written, Nigeria is not destined to fail at this Current World cup any means that will make us fail be it players or Coaches or administration god will expose them come World Cup. There is no way a talented generation like this will go to waste because of bribing and corruption God Will not allow it we have suffered to long with tampering and meddling come World Cup.
This Time is our Own the World can See we don’t need Ighalo.
I am telling You Ighalo will will be exposed and that will lead to the exposing of the deficiencies with the administration and Coach. Rohr and Pinnick or one will be let go before the end of the year and a sound coach will be at the helm.
I am praying About it ANY OBSTACLE IN THE WAY OF SUPER EAGLES SUCCESS IN AFCON AND WORLD CUP 2022 will be removed. I have said it it will come to pass.
I just advised coach Rohr to look into session schedule. Who is still talking about team list.
Ighalo should fail so he is not called up again. I don Not wish him well in this current Outing. I have said it I wish Osion Ighalo To fail Woefully so that the backlash will mean he never sets foot close to this team. Seeing as this is what it has come too. I know it sounds bad but You all will thank me later. We Can’t afford Ighalo over Awoniyi come World Cup. Ighalo didn’t even score a goal Emmanuel Emenike would have been better in that case ast least he can score goals and trouble World Class defenders.
ODION IGHALO SHOULD FAIL WOEFULLY SO ROHR CAN BE SACKED AND MUSA DROPPED AND A SOUND EUROPEAN COACH LIKE HERVE RENARD TAKE OVER. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Pinick can get the boot too for all I care. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH THIS LIST IS FINAL STRWAW. Rather now because we are heading to calamity.
He won’t fail in Jesus Christ name. Amen. All because 8f football. Haba!
Ighalo or not. I’m looking forward to seeing Ejuke and Chukwueze on both flanks. I don’t want hear …Simon is defensive nonsense. Pls.
@Ayo Football brings me Joy and it means alot to me.
@ayo, I bet my life that simion will start.
Take heart lad, we know it can be very painful. Let’s employ CS to update us about Coach Rohr next line of action. There is nothing more anyone can do about list now.
See, we have less than 2 weeks to the match against the Lone Stars and in all, Coach Rohr really has four most important parameters to design and this can only be one the week plan now. What are his style of play? What arrangement has Coach Rohr for team game model? Formation, game tactics and plan. I haven’t even gone into physical capacity and current effective playing time of players since the list was announced.
He also has to send a team to monitor opponents training if he is busy with other engagements. Rohr has alot on his hands than to have time for media wasteful cries. What we owe Nigeria and the SE is to be objective and come up with concise submissions, noise don’t count.
I have already moved beyond all that. I just advised Rohr to organize activities and resources that will guide his charges towards the eet objective, that’s excelling in the AFCON. Rohr has a lot to do in terms of planning, monitoring and delivery.
Please what is abdullahi shehu doing in this team, even omeruo, where is Calvin bassey, ebuehi dessers, sadiq, lookman,i feel even collins should give a breath, i think ejiara or nwakali also should come in
This list is a true reflection of the states of affairs in our national teams most especially the Super Eagles. It further validates the level of Roar’s mental capacity, dishonesty and integrity.
This political coach told the world that his invitation will be based on current form. He fumed at the level of competitiveness of our players in top teams, crying for players in top 5 leagues in the World. Now check out the list:
1. Uzoho is not the first keeper of his team, he hasn’t played in league matches for months. Adeleye & Osagwe are playing regularly.
2. Omeruo has not featured in his club’s last three matches, Ajayi has been playing regularly for his team.
3. Ebuehi is playing in Serie A, he was overlooked for Shehu
4. Dennis, 3 goals 3 assists in Premiership dropped for Musa who has not achieved ilthat much in lesser fancied Turkey.
5. Awoniyi, playing in Bundesliga (top 5 league) and leads all SE players in scoring in Europe dropped for Onuachu.
6. Recalling retiree and less fancied Ighalo (Saudi based) to take the place of Awoniyi one of the hottest strikers in Europe is insane.
Roar has broken so many unwanted records. His selection bias is too obvious for any reasonable persons to know that something is definitely not right with the states of our national team. Nigeria soccer is runned and may be ruined by selfish people who only care about their pockets. Something needs to be done asap before AFCON.
With Roar in charge and controlled by greedy Picnic, it is becoming really hard to predict matches against minnows.
Omo9ja my good man, I have a question for you.
Is it wrong tactics and/or collapsed midfield that made Awoniyi miss open net in the first leg against CAR?
Your reasoning is fallacious, sir. You are saying wrong tactics and collapsed midfield prevented us from creating chances. Yet Awoniyi got a chance, open net for that matter, and missed it.
As I have mentioned so many times already, the problem against CAR WAS NOT THAT WE DIDN’T CREATE CHANCES. THE PROBLEM WAS THE FAILURE OF OUR STRIKERS TO CONVERT THE CHANCES WE CREATED.
Awoniyi is a superb talent. His open net miss is understandable. Even Yekini missed a lot of chances in the beginning of his illustrious career. So Awoniyi will learn and improve.
However, a world cup qualifier is not the best medium for young strikers to gain experience.
We have to manage Rohr as we see him, because we no get money to hire better coach. Abi Omo9ja, will you borrow NFF ONIGBESE the money? In fact, as my friend, I have to advise you not to do that, because that money will grow wings and fly to where nobody knows. So as money no dey to hire better coach, we have to continue managing this one that is at least giving us some good results, despite being owed months of salary, and having to play matches on yeye pitches.
@iwunze yiy always destroy your argument with curses and abuses. It’s immaturity that makes someone call another stupid fool all because of football..
I support your point on this selection by rohr. Until we lose bassey to another country that’s when we will begin to shout.
Let’s see what rohr will get with this ighalo project.
@pompei so it the best period to bring an unwilling 33 year old average striker like ighalo back to the super eagles. You did not get that argument right.
Kilodeeeeeee. This sweet talk is getting out of hand Mr. Pompei kę.
Aamanitori awijare e, ki ito otan lęnu.
Yes Awoniyi misses an open goal which is normal due to unconvincing game plan of the coaches and pressure on our boys.
Mind you sir, if you complaining about Awoniyi misses an open goal, what can you say about Ighalo at the world cup?
What of Yakubu Ayiegbeni? That is football for you.
Ighalo is not the solution. We need a creative midfielder and strikers like Osimhen, Dessers, Dennis, Onuachu, Awoniyi and Sodiq not Ighalo.
Of course Ighalo is a Nigerian but he has done well in the past and if to say we don’t have inform strikers presently, he deserves to be in that team but we have so many fantastic, goal machines and sharp shooter strikers at the moment so, why Ighalo?
It is so clear that the coach can not build us a team.
If I may ask you another question sir daddy, how many shots we had on target?
But you said we had so many chances abi?
Having Oga Rohr in the Super Eagles as coache after the world cup and Afcon is fraud.
You may not know now but you will soon. God bless Nigeria!!!
We have fantastic sharp shooters, but we should have won that match easily and we didn’t have to loose the match at home. The Lagos fans would not v dare booed our fantastic players. Ha ha. Please, my dear pal, Lets focus on winning games at all times. Everybody loves a winner because, winner will win again.
I sorry for Naija, we will feel the heat at the nations cup and world cup after Ighalo misses an open net and Osimhen left in the bench. I’m not part of this Rubbish I withdraw my emotions from this team henceforth!
There’s more ahead than CV and Liberia because I know after these two matches many will think this idea is great but when the real teams show face we will know the truth. We need technical players like Bassey, Dennis and Awoniyi that should have been groomed for world stage and not this propaganda. I don’t know Ighalo from anywhere but as a Nigerian I feel sorry as how we are easily fooled by politicians and bad leaders like Pinnick!
Mr. Iwunze, enough of your petulance! Your rantings and insults are uncalled for. Rohr made these decisions, not me, or any other person in this forum!
You said Rohr made mistakes by dropping Bassey for Shehu. That makes zero sense! Bassey is a left back, and Shehu is a right back/DM. If Bassey was selected, we would have 3 left backs in the team – Sanusi, Collins and Bassey!!!
Are you saying you would prefer for us to have 3 left backs in the squad?
You said Rohr should have been more aggressive in going after Victor Moses.
Pray tell, what else should Rohr have done to cajole Moses out of retirement? Or are you saying Rohr should have arranged for Moses to be kidnapped and forcibly brought to camp to play for Nigeria?
You keep talking about bribery, without a shred of evidence! Ighalo bribed his way into the Super Eagles. Tell me, how many people would he have to bribe to get himself back in the SE? Are you saying he bribed Pinnick and other board members of NFF, members of the technical committee, scouts, journalists? Then he bribed Rohr, Salisu, and his other assistants? How many people would he have to bribe to pull this off? How much would it cost to bribe all these people? Ighalo may be rich, but he’s not the world bank!!!
What if someone brought the accusation against you that you have collected bribe from Awoniyi? That is why you are so up in arms over Ighalo’s invitation?
Why are you not as upset that Rohr is being owed salaries? So your “righteous soul” picks and chooses what injustices to tolerate, and what injustices are intolerable?
You Mr. Iwunze are not exactly a paragon of rational thought and decorum. And the more you stubbornly argue about something nobody here has any control over, the more disconnected with reality you appear to be!!!
Hear, hear.!!!!!!!. He is so bored. Awoniyi my foot.
Your yeye foot wey you never Wash for months dat your smelling foot.
If say dem drop your edo boy Osimhen we for no hear am until tomorrow now you are opening your mouth to say Awoniyi your foot. Na because say Ighalo na Edo boy like you. Stupid fool.
Invite this invite that no be them common central africa rep that doesn’t have any top player defeated here in lagos
And @Pompei if you are okay with a Bench Warmer in Cyprus (Shehu) Taking, the place of a First team Regular in Glasgow Rangers and coming here to support such an atrocity then maybe I should be asking you @Pompei are you on Rohr and Pinnicks Payroll?.
Did you know that Fifa new rule states that a player with dual nationality can be recalled by any national team if he doesn’t have 3 caps for a specific Team. Maybe when you hear that Calvin Bassey accepted a call up by England the Reality will hit home about the dangers of Tampering with Coaching Selection
Keep Supporting the DEAD Beat Rohr. Incase you didn’t notice Quota System is still Ingrained in this Countries DNA.
@Ugo, why you dey take Panado for another man problem now? Rohr has laid his bed and is prepared to sleep on it anyhow it pans out.
You have to admit that it is his responsibility to select his players, wetting come be your wahala way you no go allow forumites rest with your rantings.
You all believe that interference in coaches selection is a very bad thing that must be condemned but you have been crying since last night because the coach did not pick your favourite players………..no be interference be that?
SAbi na you go train these guys for the match, haba the guy don chose his trusted Army but you want make he chose your own untrusted army so that he can lose and then you go term him a failure. Please leave Rohr and let him Swim or Sink with his team o jare
Dat na the new CSN Anthem allow Rohr to Swim and Sink may be Burna Boy should make a Song called “Allow Rohr to swim and Sink with our darling SE”. Aru!!! God Forbid!!!!. that rubbish ended in 2014 with Keshi and 2019 Afcon.
I have commenced prayer and fasting for Rohr’s failure and that of Ighalo’s down fall too. You will thank me later. this is my last comment on this nonsense topic.
Mark my words if Ighalo Place is merited then SE will succeed. But if it is not and there is corrupt forces at play for his invite then, Cape Verde will beat us at home. and Rohr will be fired. and maybe Pinnick Let go too. because I always warned Pinnick that his pompousness and Big mouth will be his undoing. He went on Air to personally take credit for bringing Ighalo back as he did for Imposing Musa on Rohr, when it fails it will backfire on Pinnick in a serious way.
Someone is here blaming Awoniyi for tge loss against CAR when it was obvious that wrong tactics by Dumbo Roar cost us the match.
The same person forgot that Awoniyi’s introduction changed the complexion of the match and opened more opportunities to score. Awoniyi did not miss target, his goal bound effort was blocked.
Why are you not blaming Iheanacho who was ineffective in the matches against CAR ? Why not blame you Dumbo Roar for playing 442 against a CAR ?
Unlike Ighalo who is known for missing target, Awoniyi is a prolific scorer who has scored more crucial goals and won more trophies for Nigeria.
Like Roar, Ighalo is yet to win pangolo for Nigeria..
How many goals has Awoniyi scored for Nigeria???
He only won 1 trophy for Nigeria and not many.
What all of you GR critics do not realise is “he who wears the shoes knows where it pinches most. This one no be FIFA computer game but it is World Cup Qualifiers, you don’t go to war lead by Warrant and Squadron officers only, you need your Generals to direct the affairs, that’s simply what a seasoned coach will do
@Dr Banks maybe if he gets a proper chance like his displays at Club Level Deserve, Then maybe he will have the opportunity to score.
What a stupid baseless question.
My guy, all am saying is Rohr has made his bed, let him lie on it. What is done is done, if you wail till Kingdom come nothing will change.
When you become SE coach, you will also make some unpopular calls just like now. There is no way GR will select 24 players without leaving out some other people’s favourite player
It is very easy to get information these days. It is only a Dumbo and low integrity coach like Roar, that will drop one of the leading scorers in Bundesliga for a retiree playing in Arab league.
@Deo.
The best uplifting write-up I have read with the ongoing team selection arguments and counter arguments. You’re a true optimistic Super Eagles fan. I rate you bro.
Again @POMPEI I have been on CSN for years and watched as you guys have supported Rohr’s One Bad Decision after another and for Me I went along with in the beginning because at first as tactical Inept as he was. I gave him the benefit of Doubt due to his selection because at the time it seemed as though he was working purely on Merit.
I lost faith in Rohr when he tricked us into Inviting Musa for the Tunisia and Algeria Friendlies, at the time Musa was Clubless hadn’t kicked a ball. Rohr lied to the Media and said Musa will be there purely as motivator, to my suprise he was fielding Musa against Tunisia a week after the lie. and Left Chidera on the Bench?.
That was when I saw that this coach has falling victim to Nigeria’s tricks.
I will say again ROHR MUST FALL!!!. Trust me you will thank me later. Like I always am vindicated here because again, I dey shine my eye well wit SE palava. it seems Palava always follows this yeye administration up and dan
Mr. Iwunze, the more you talk, the more disconnected with reality you appear.
I am not a Rohr supporter. I am a realist. Get this fact into your head!
We have Rohr today because we can’t afford to hire a better coach. I asked Omo9ja if he was willing to borrow NFF money to hire a coach. Perhaps you have the funds. You may want to consider lending NFF the money. Let me warn you though. Dem go chop your money. So we’re back to square one. Rohr.
If we had the money, I would be in total support of replacing Rohr with a world class coach. Someone like Antonio Conte, Nuno Espirito Santo, even Frank Rijkaard. We can even entice Roberto Martinez away from Belgium with the right amount of money.
But are all these coaches going to agree to work for a country that won’t pay them their salaries on time? Even Rohr that we’re managing, are we not owing him?
Fortunately for us, this Rohr, who is not a world class coach, who we are even owing months of salaries, continues to get us decent results and qualify us for major tournaments. How can we honestly expect a coach we’re owing salaries to win us trophies? It’s unbelievable!
If we’re not winning trophies, the blame lies primarily with the NFF!
You are like the biblical pharisees that strain out the gnat, but gulp down the camel! Rohr is the gnat in this problem. If we solved the bigger problems, Rohr would not have been hired in the first place!
But now that we have Rohr, he is the best our miserable NFF can afford, do we have any other choice than to support him and the team?
If you still don’t get it after this explanation, then I don’t know what else to say.
Folks, you have to find a winning spirit, a new motivation, because most of you are down and of course bitter but that’s your fault. Now, granted that the list is out and our next match is just few days to go, what is Rohr doing about assessment strategies and criteria? I’m of the view that nff has given him the needed resources and other materials. Any update on the way forward?
I don’t have a problem with Ighalo. Just because he has been called up doesn’t mean he is gonna turn up. Happened with Adama Traore, he was called up for Mali and Spain but then decided to play for Spain. A lot of people hate Ighalo from the jump ever since world cup 2018 and he stated that, that’s why he retired early. Looking at the comments the hate comes from a tribal point of you (no surprise). My problem is Awoniyi not getting a call. This is the problem I have with Rohr, the lineup is so inconsistent, its gonna mess up the synergy and partnerships with players. I don’t know what’s his plan. This team looks so mediocre. Right now out of the super eagles the only players who have stand out performances are Awoniyi and Osimhen. All the other players are from relegated or losing teams, like come on Jamilu Collins? That dude been on that relegated team forever, obviously he is not making an impact
Thank you @Francis Eluba, it is for CSN to update us on Coach Rohr and his charges. I believe every coach has their own unique approach to type of design and plan. It is possible he is in the boardroom. However, most coaching sessions share a common structure and unfold in much the same way. We should be getting updates on SE preparation in the next few hours. I see you deliberately didn’t mention anything about the list.
See these people ooo., what unique approach are you talking about Loool? see you talking as if Rohr is a new coach that we don’t know all his approach, have I not been sharing the FB page where you can see live training of SE with you guys?????????????.. have you seen Rohr ever changing the drills. what will happen is warm up kick and chase the ball in a circle then a Sparring game with teams split into two. NOTHING MUCH NO DRILLS NEW PLAYS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Nigeria will labour to victory again. Ighalo will be trusted ahead of Osimhen in that squad. Osimhen will get frustrated and Reject every Call up going forward. which maybe the same with Awoniyi. If I was in his shoes I would not accept the next call up, Naija na disaster. Watch this space keep supporting evil you will only have yourself to blame.
@Oseodion, that’s very correct. You see, it is a list I made some inputs so there was no reason to be beating about the bush or getting unnecessary agitated. My concern is, every game comes with a different strategy and in a completion of this nature, one would expect the coach having named his lads to hit the ground running. This is 24hr since the much discussed list came out and I didn’t hear any word from Rohr since then. Here we are, few days to go. You see, Rohr should lay it bare. Has he made contacts to SE club sides for their timely release? And just as you earlier mentioned in one of your comments, is their any training plan? What mode and structure and how many days training before the match proper. These are some few stuffs that Nigerians need to hear, I mean from our coaching crew.
I can Imagine if Ighalo scores against Lowely Liberia, He would have Signed his World Cup Ticket and that is Bye Bye Awoniyi for World Cup irrespective if he ends up top scorer in German Bundesliga.
This is the plan they Know Ighalo is good enough to score against lowley Liberia hence they drop Awoniyi and take Ighalo. I know how these devils think. Ighalo is a basket against tough opposition even a South Africa always restrains him from doing much. Ighalo Loooooooool!! wonders shall never end.
In the begining of the Season almost every season for the past four years Awoniyi is always training with Salah, Ferminio, Mane and co up to the point of now going to Germany and he is holding his own against Robert Lewondoski and Erling Haaland competing for Golden boot. Here is a guy who knows Salah Inside and out he can give Rohr useful information regarding Salah and his game play as we are in the same Group and maybe Mane with we Jam Senegal. Not to mention the added fire power and German ruggedness he brings. But, he is Dropped for a player winding down his Career in a Sunday League. Any useful coach would have taking that into consideration even with regards to being overlooked for Onuachu for that matter, Chai!!! Aru.. They must know they have committed a huge blunder.
I know that you are still angry and upset about the the list.
The only thing we can do to stop this is to ask NFF to ask Amaju Pinnick to go.
If NFF can not do this, Nigeria may suffer from his actions.
I know that Amaju and NFF are like twin babies, they are working for each other but if we keep telling them that Amaju have to go before we can rebuild Super Eagles, I know one day, they will get the message.
We can not send Oga Rohr out of our football without dealing with Amaju Pinnick first.
We have to keep telling those in charge of our football⚽️.
I’m not happy about the list too but we still have a lot to do.
We will get there my man. God bless Nigeria!!!
@Omo9ja Thank you broda mi don’t mind these fools we will be having the last laugh when Rohr leaves with his tail between his legs after Amaju Pinnick uses him as scape goat for this atrocity he constantly instgates with bad leadership qualities.
Ugo why not leave that clown Osedion or whatever he’s called. We don’t even know him on this forum giving him audience is like fueling his madness.
@ Chima E Samuels I will never respond to Rohr agent of Doom Osedion again, it is clear he and his type have been planted by NFF to destabilise and Cause division of Opiniions on this calamitous Ighalo Shenanigans. other wise why will a able minded Individual who claims to be a fan of our Darling SE be supporting this rubbish.
They are the type that if Rohr and Pinnick come out to Say Ndidi has been dropped for Onazi Experience or Onyeka been dropped for Onazi. these agents will come and try say I.e ” the Coach has his trusted solidiers there is a reason he dropped Ndidi” ARU!!! ABOMINATION Rohr has committed the final nail in his coffin with Ighalo matta. It will explode badly in his face. Already Karama is threatining him. Now Italian Media is against realising Osimhen for the Qualifires. That is great news in my books Let Rohr go and Execute these qualifiers without Osimhen and Awoniyi and let Ighalo be leading the line soley on his own let us see how far he gets. Mr EXPERIENCE!!!…
KARMA WILL FINSIH ROHR AND PINNICK FOR THIS INFACT OSIMHEN, DENNIS, CHUKWUEZE AND AWONIYI SHOULD STAY CLEAR OF THIS TEAM UNTIL THAT GERMAN EMBESILE.
HE MAY AS WELL BRING BACK ONAZI AND CO WITH IGHALO. LET THEM DO THE JOB FOR HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!.
I AM TIRED OF THIS NONSESNE MEDALLING IN OUR BALL!!! TIRED!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly I am not surprised, Odion Ighalo recent invitation to the national team after 2years of voluntary retirement(albeit with death threats thrown at him at the time) has generated mixed reactions from Nigerians with a larger chunk of the population and some ex internationals appalled with his inclusion in the team especially at a time when the national team and Nigerians seem to have moved on from his retirement, perhaps the gaffer knows better or seems to have panicked after our shock loss to Central Africa Republic(which in my opinion is a one off thing, occasionally big teams loss to the less fancied teams, besides football has evolved, their are no minnows anymore)to deem it necessary to call him out of retirement, though the coach has never hidden his desire to have Ighalo back in his team, personally I think Gernoht Rohr has done well for our national considering the team was plummeting to a whole new low before he took over the the reins as our national team coach.
The man has his flaws no doubt but he have outperformed his predecessors who was not able to qualify us for 2consecutive AFCONS,He might not be the best man for the job but his exploits with the team score him above average, Ighalo invitation came as a rude shock to many, we have seen him at his best and worst and his inclusion will not give us an Afcon title or guaranteed us a pass to qualify for the 2022 winter world cup in qatar, personally I think his invitation was not necessary especially at a time when we seem to have plethora of attacking talents blossoming at their respective clubs in europe(Taiwo Awonniyi, Emmanuel Dennis, Sadiq Umar, Term Moffi etc) ,I guess the gaffer knows better, nonetheless I remain a staunch supporter of my darling supper eagles, God bless us all.
Awoniyi can’t play anything stop disturbing us with all this average players that couldn’t beat central africa rep here in lagos, invite this invite that if to say that those players will make any meaningful impact with national team, club football is different from national team if you like play for madrid or bayern but you can still be outplayed by common africa team
You want coach Rhor to invite madrid ac milan bayern man united players because we want to play Liberia and cape verde! What a shame! Ighalo calling is a welcome development osihmen can’t take us to promise land, national team football is all about heart determination commitment is not all about which clubs you’re scoring goals for.i could remembered during japan korea 2002 world qualify george opong weah nearly qualify Liberia to world cup with less fancy players, you are here disturbing coach to invite awoniyi and co . Nonsense
@Agbo Max you are the biggest fool on the planet. Did Ighalo take us to the promise land in his time in SE. Was it not the same Ighalo who had to almost go into hiding after World Cup 2018???, In Ighalo’s tenure in SE, did Nigeria Progress to any Knock out stage in World Cup??.. Let me tell you Something that any Nigeria Fan Knows. the Last Lethal attacker Nigeria Had before Oimhen was Emmanuel Emenike PERIOD!!!. Ighalo is Average even compared to Emenike. and Emenike is not even on Osimhen Level. FACTS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Osimhen can’t take us to the Promise Land?? What a Low IQ statement. Has Osimhen Played in a AFCON and World Cup for you to ascertain that???????????????. and Mind you based on what Osimhen is doing at club Level compared to what Ighalo Achieved in his Club football and where he is currently palying now coupled with his track record in World Cup and Afcon + Age, I can safely say that the best bet to take us to the Promise land is VICTOR JAMES OSIMHEN DO YOU HEAR ME????FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. And I will also put Awoniyi far ahead of Ighalo when it comes to taking us to the promise land.
You sound like a toddler who has never played ball and just started following SE and their Players yesterday.
WHAT RUBBISH!!!!!!
Osihmen awoniyi my foot both can easily marked out believe it or leave it foolish man
With osimehen we’re struggling to qualify and you’re here hyping him because we haven’t meet strong team
FOOL CAPE VERDE IS THE STRONGEST OPPOSITION INOUR GROUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Agbo Max it is about WOrld Cup is next year the strongest team needs to be selected from now to then to gel with and get good Chemistry. That is the point why invite Ighalo now when the team has been gelling and Leading the Group. When 9 english based players left for England agaisnt Cape Verde 2 months ago. and Osimhen Had to carry the team as the Most experience player in Cape Verde. did he not do so successfully and carry the team?. or maybe I missed something and the goal he scored was finally later disallowed.
Bros maybe you shoud stop commenting and just listen from hence forth!!
Osimhen can’t take us to the promise land @Abgo max I will say again that Comment you made is enough for me to never take your comments serious from hence forth.
Go back and watch osimehen against tunisia last afcon , national team is not for kids, he’s a good player but he can’t take us to anywhere that’s my points we need experience players, with ighalo coming definitely osimehen will improve more , without experience players all this small small players will start playing big man game, try to understand me

Our ” So called” Captain, Pinnick and Rohr’s Icon as well as the so called Icon of Nigeria. Has made the the WORST EVER SIGNING IN LEICESTER CITIES HISTORY.
You mean this captain;
“Ahmed Musa becomes Nigeria’s highest goal scorer at World Cup | Pulse Nigeria” https://www.pulse.ng/sports/world-cup-2018/super-eagles-ahmed-musa-becomes-nigerias-highest-goal-scorer-at-world-cup/l48s3dj.amp

When you are done with your personal vendetta and rants, drink rat poison mixed with vallium when you see Musa and Odion in the SE camp come 11th November….. LMAOOOooo

It’s Is so funny how the International Media views and rates our players as opposed to Nigeran Media and Nigera.
You see In the World Ndidi is a more important player than Musa. But for
some reason in Nigeria Musa is a GOD. NAWAOOO..
Here is a simple example of How Leicester City views both players. that is an honest assessment of Both Individuals.
But Naija where corruption is rife it is not so.

One is a STAR the Other the WORST SIGNING IN THIER HISTORY.
BUT IN NIGERIA THE WORST SIGNING IS THE CAPTAIN> AND FIRST NAME ON A MUGU”S LIST
One is the highest scoring Nigerian in the history of the world cup, the other is not. One is regarded as a club legend in two of his clubs, the other is just seen as a “key player”.
That rings a bell in the ears of even the dumbest fool in the world.
Once again, when you are done with your ethnitand personal vendetta, drink rat poison mixed with vallium when you see Ahmed Musa in the SE camp….. LMAOoo
@Dr Drey the fact remains when Rohr, Pinnick, Musa and Ighalo eventually get bundled out. I am sure you will disaapear along with them on this forum. Criminal Citizens like of you and Osedion are the reason corrupt people in power always get away with Murder even if they are committing it in front of your blind eyes and dead brain.
You will finish yourself with that same Rat poison when Your Criminals have been eradicated with Divine intervention from the Almighty God.
Hohhahahahaha….i thought you have power, I thought you are strong, that is why you have been rabble rousing like a dying rat here for days now over what you cannot do jack about….LMAOooooooo. Why not go and bundle all of them out by yourself……LMAOOooooo
The National team or the NFF secretariat is like a barracks. Soldiers will go, Soldiers will come, barrack will remain. You are not saying anything new by telling us that Mr A and/or Mr B will go. You can go and tell that to your fellow mad-cocaine-sniffing-drug-addiction-rehab escapees.
The SE was not formed last year, so Rohr, pinnick, musa or Ighalo are not going to be the first nor will they be the last. Players will come, players will go, coaches will come, coaches will go, Presidents will come, presidents will go, the SE will remains and Dr.Drey will remain and will as ALWAYS, continue to give unalloyed support to whomever is legitimately occupying the seats and delivering according to the targets and responsibilities given to them by their employers.
You are one of the mad bastards who used to insult Keshi on KON back then while those of us with insight and sound reasoning gave him our full support…..that same Keshi is the reference point for big mouths like you today…….LMAOOOooo…I wish he would rise from his grave one day and shift your jaws backwards with a dirty slap when never you open your gutters to eulogize him now……LMAOOoooo…..I never regretted supporting keshi then, and I am not and will not regret supporting Rohr now either…..LMAOOooo. Go and hang yourself if it pains you so much that I support a just man doing his job and churning out results even in the harshest of working environments…….LMAOooooo
Coach Rohr gives reasons for Iheanacho under performances for national team as opposed to Leicester. Read and please let us forget this Ighalo issue abeg. we can’t alter the already released list.. Daddy Rohr comments in the link below applies to all the players. And NFF must do something this time whether they like it or not.
https://soccernet.ng/2021/11/rohr-reveals-iheanachos-best-position-and-why-he-struggles-in-super-eagles-games.html
Rohr is not a good coach. The Super Eagles need a better coach especially now that we have so many players doing well across Europe.
Any link to see the match plz?
http://www.Corrupt.co.ng Na dere you go find live match of Pinnick personal toy Super Chickens.
Hesgoal.com…have u update on the lineup?
The jibes and insults are needless,I understand many people’s emotions have flared but the deed has been done and can’t be undone unless maybe Ighalo never rescinds his decision on retirement, let us maintain decorum and show maximum respect to another, emotions can be fleeting and deceiving and make us say things we never meant or even becloud our sense of judgment but in reality the majority of us meant well for our national team and want to see darling super eagles soar higher, it quite unfortunate we seem to misunderstand each other and can’t stop throwing tantrums when our opinion differs, let’s broaden our thinking faculties and quit being narrow minded, it will help us respect each others opinion no matter the differences,Dr drey I got maximum respect for you with your concise and well articulated contributions to this forum but try hard stop the insults even when provoked, I remain an avid fan of our darling super eagles, the best we can do at the moment is support the coach and players irrespective of our perceptions of them and hope for the very best.
@Prince, AIT or hesgoal.tv. Is the lineup out yet?
Line up: keeper:. Okoye

Mid Field: Iwobi, Ndidi, Aribo
Forwards: V. Osimhen, Odion , Chukwueze.
*Odion would play more from the left wing but assisting No9.
