The Lanreleke Sports Academy which is set to be one of the best and if not the best in the whole of Nigeria will commence its activities in Osun State in October, 2021.
This much was disclosed on Monday by Segun ‘Mathematical’ Odegbami at the screening held at the Campos ground in Lagos Island in a bid to discover teenage sports talents.
According to Odegbami, “40 students made up of 30 boys and 10 girls who will enjoy full scholarships will be selected as the pioneer group for the academy which will begin academic work in October.
“The students would not be above 14 years by October 1. They must also have the minimum educational qualification of the Junior Secondary School Certificate,” which means they must be in at least SS1 by then.
What this also means is that aspiring students must have obtained their first and second term JSS 3 results and they must possess special abilities to engage in any of three sports that will be played at the Lanreleke Sports Academy.
It is also worthy to note that the parents of the selected 40 students do not have to be worried about the payment of tuition fees or any other thing as the school will cater for everything.

Odegbami further revealed that the academy is actually “looking for students who have been excelling in at least one of football, basketball and athletics (Track and field).”
Screenings have so far taken place in three different venues such as Hussey College Warri in Delta State, University of Benin Sports Complex, Benin in Edo State and Campos Ground, Lagos Island in Lagos.
The final two screenings are scheduled for the University of Ibadan Sports Centre, Ibadan, Oyo State on September 1 and the Obafemi Awolowo University Sports Centre, Ile-Ife in Osun State on September 7, 2021.
Nigerian football legend, Chief Odegbami, another former international, Mutiu Adepoju, the School Administrator, Mr. Chike Egbunu and former Super Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye are in the LSA screening and selection Committee.
Successful students picked from these screening and selection exercises will be required to have the consent of their parents for their admission to be confirmed by the Academy.
The newly-established Lanreleke Sports Academy (LSA) is a co-educational, fully residential and specialist Senior Secondary School which is located in Ileogbo, Osun State.
