Joel Obi’s Chievo Verona have been knocked out in the race to return to Serie A after they lost 3-1 away to Spezia, in the second-leg semi-final of the promotion play-off on Tuesday, Completesports.com reports.
Obi featured from the start in the game before he was replaced with 13 minutes left.
Despite Chievo going into the tie 2-0 ahead from the first-leg, Spezia overturned the deficit to bring score to 3-0.

Chievo grabbed a late goal in the 93rd minute from the penalty spot to bring aggregate score to 3-3.
However, Spezia progressed into the final as the rule states that if two teams are tied on aggregate in a promotion Play-offs game, the team that finished higher in the league table after the regular season ends, will advance.
And after the end of the regular season Spezia finished third while Chievo were in sixth position.
Spezia will now wait for the winner of the second semi-final between Frosinone and Pordenone.
Benevento and Crotone had already qualified automatically to Serie A after finishing first and second respectively, on the final log standing.
