Ethan Nwaneri has been named Arsenal’s Player of the Match for his impressive performance in the Gunners’ 3-1 win against Brentford on New Year’s day.
Nwaneri was announced as the winner in a post on Arsenal’s X handle after votes by the club fans.
The 17-year-old finished ahead of Mikel Merino, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli after polling 40 percent of the votes.
Jesus, who equalised for Arsenal was second with 38 percent while Martinelli and Merino got 15 and seven percents respectively.
Nwaneri made his first Premier League start in Wednesday’s game and featured from the right wing following the absence of Bukayo Saka.
The youngster did not look out of place and had a hand in Arsenal’s third goal scored by Martinelli.
He has scored one goal in 11 Premier League games and has netted three in three Carabao Cup appearances this season.
The win against Brentford means Arsenal, on 39 points, are six points behind leaders Liverpool on the log.
