A statue of Nigerian striker Anthony Nwakaeme has been unveiled in the Turkish city of Trabzon where Super Lig club Trabzonspor is based.
The statue was unveiled by Mustafa Bulut and Adem Birsen as a permanent reminder of Nwakaeme’s time at Trabzonspor.
And commenting on the statue, Birsen told Turkish media outlet 61saat:”A long construction process of 6 months. We had it done with a special sculptor. We love and admire him very much.

“We could’ve picked any Turkish footballer, but Nwakaeme is a very different name for us. He came from outside and embody us. A man who loves Trabzonspor like us, we see him as one of us. He has the characteristics of Trabzon.”
Birsen added: “It cost 30 thousand Turkish Lira (N1.4m) but the money is not important. Let him come here, we have food, we eat and drink. Let him continue to score. If Fenerbahçe has Alex, we have Nwakaeme. We love him very much, he should continue to score, he is our everything.”
The 32-year-old joined Trabzonspor on August 2018 from Israeli club Hapoel Be’er Sheva.
In 2020, he helped Trabzonspor win the Turkish Cup and the Turkish Super Cup.
So far this season he has scored three goals in five appearances in all competitions, two goals in the league and one in the newly introduced UEFA Europa Conference League.

This is how to honor people when they don’t recognize their efforts back home at the water-gutter zoo republic. Congratulations to Anthony he has been very consistent and I enjoyed a couple of his highlights.
Omo Chima you make me laugh almost enter gutter, at a point I was thinking like which kind talk be this again from you? then I realize say true true na gutter I almost enter. Zoo republic indeed!!! Bhuari Asslickers are still on rampage giving scholarships to Boko Haram to prepare them for future terror. Once a killer is always a killer Nigerians can not do anything about this because to me this is Alarming and posses severe threat to our future generations.
Nigeria’s gone long ago. Clownic population can’t let their vote speak, Nigeria now produces more illiterate and criminals than any other nations. As a foreigner in every country once people know you’re a Nigerian they start observing you in fears that anything can happen. Crazy feeling plus the racial one aside we need Jesus as a Nation because everyone is paying the price for some funny people.
CSN Sef doesn’t even want to give the Full stats Because I am sure. the Achievements of 2020 alone doesn’t warrant a statue he hit the ground running from 2018. Please CSN if Turkey can give him a statue you guys can research your work properly and give better stats than 2018 because again 2 cups in one season does not warrant a statue. yes Tranbanzpor is not the biggest in Turkey so that achievement in itself is not warrant that we eant stats and goals there we will see the real merit and ask NFF why he wasn’t given more of a chance in the SE.
Nwakaeme played only 45 minutes for Nigeria but a hero in Turkey! An example of injustices and prejudicial treatment in Nigeria. Never mind that Rohr is a German. He is clearly remotely micro-managed by Nigerian politics
@Ako AMADI… to even think that only appearance came in 2018 WC against Algeria away and he has not been considered ever since.
That guy is one player who plays for a solid Turkish Liga team and even captains them atimes… to show the respect he commands.
I don’t see where just because a player is above 30yrs, despite doing well at club, he is considered as no longer useful to his national team!
What we must know is that there people… key decision makers in Super Eagles setup that are gatekeepers… once they don’t like you, it’s bye bye to invitation.
