Nigeria international, Anthony Nwakaeme will lead the attack of Trabzonspor in the absence of his strike partner Hugo Rodallega later tonight (Friday) when they host Antalyaspor in a Turkish Super Lig match, Completesports.com report.
Rodallega is currently out due to a muscle injury.
Both Nwakaeme and Rodallega have been dubbed the best offensive pair having contributed 27 of the 45 goals scored by Trabzonspor after 26 league games so far this term.
The 30-year-old Nwakaeme hash hit the ground running for Trabzonspor since arriving Turkey from Israeli champions, Hapoel Beer Sheva last season and already has eight goals to his credit.
Nwakaeme who has one cap with the Super Eagles under coach Gernot Rohr has scored in each of Trabzonspor’s last three Turkish Super Lig games and one Cup game. He will be gunning for his ninth goal of the season against Antalyaspor tonight.
The former Hapoel Beer Sheva forward scored a brace in the 2-2 draw away to Kasimpasa and grabbed a goal each in the 2-1 home win over Akhisarspor, and 1-0 away win against Erzurumspor. He also scored one goal in their 3-1 win over Umraniyespor in a Cup game, totalling five goals in four games.
Trabzonspor are targeting Champions League next season and need to start amassing points to climb higher from their current 4th position on the table. And a victory over 7th-placed Antalyaspor will boost their chances.
His compatriot at the club, Ogenyi Onazi is still recuperating from injury and will not feature in the game.
