Former Nigerian international Peter Rufai believes Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali has done enough to earn the number one spot in the goalkeeping department for the senior national team.
Recall that After his shock inclusion in the 2023 AFCON squad, Chippa United goalkeeper has won the hearts of Nigerians following his amazing performances in the tournament in Ivory Coast, where he helped the Super Eagles to a silver medal.
Nwabali proved to be the solution to Nigeria’s goalkeeping problems since Vincent Enyeama and Carl Ikeme left the team as he relegated former number Francis Uzoho to the bench in the 34th AFCON.

“There is no doubt that Nwabali’s performance at the 2023 AFCON has put him in a better position to continue as the team’s number one goalkeeper.
“He has proven himself beyond every reasonable doubt based on what he has achieved within the space of three weeks of the tournament.
“For me, he has done enough to remain Super Eagles number one goalkeeper.”

Well said dodomayana.
Nobody can diny Nwabali the no1 spot in the Super Eagles. As far as I know, for now, Nwabali is our no1.
That doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be a competition in the goalkeeping department.
Lastly, NFF should let us know where we are going about the coach Paseiro issue. For me, the coach has nothing to offer Super Eagles because he has never improved the team.
Let’s wait and see how it goes. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
FYI, I got it from a reliable source that Prof Peseiro is going nowhere. He is determined to enhance his CV by getting something significant with the boys, thereby transforming himself to a world-class coach. The situation is becoming more interesting and goes beyond Peseiro’s personal choice. His family has warned him to stay with the SE for now. I understand his wife has even threatened marital separation if he dares part ways with the SE, citing the MON he got at Abuja as more valuable than all the dollars he would ever earn in Algeria.
Have a deep breath and accept Peseiro. The man’s hands are tied, as it is.
@KangA the Pesiero needs to go back and add some levels to his coaching badge because his style and Outlook of the Game is outdated..Whatever he learned from Mourinho is outdated and he is not even executing it as well as the self proclaimed special one.. I am sick and tired of he has met his target lingo that keeps flying around this forum..The same lingo that took presidency in Rohr reign which added to Rohr eventually becoming the bane of our existence in SE. Pereira staying on and us making him feel like he did excellent in Afcon even though we know that our Campaign was 70 percent luck if we are to be honest with ourself will cause us to miss out on WC 26 especially with Bafana Bafana and a more technical coach at their helm standing in our way. A word is enough for the wise
