Rivers United midfielder Joseph Onoja has bemoaned his club’s inability to successfully defend their Nigeria Premier League title.
The Pride of Rivers lost the the title to Enyimba finishing in third position.
Stanley Eguma’s side were held to a 1-1 draw by the People’s Elephant on Sunday night.
Ekene Awazie scored the first goal of the game for Enyimba in the 39th minute.
Nyima Nwagua equalised for
Rivers United in the 48th minute.
However Enyimba held on to secure their record ninth league title.
Onoja took to Twitter to shake off the disappointment of not winning the title.
“We didn’t loose the game. We only fall to the rules. The gain of the future is stronger than the pain of the moment . It’s time to Dust off and get set for the glory ahead,” he wrote.
