Ahead of this weekend’s matchday 34 encounter in the Nigeria Premier Football League, the Chief Coach of Remo Stars, Daniel Ogunmodede, says that the Ikenne based side cannot afford to drop any points in their spirited fight for the 2023/24 NPFL title, Completesports.com, reports.
Remo Stars, currently in third position in the NPFL table with 56 points after 33 matches, same as second-placed Enyimba International, will qualify to play in the CAF Confederation Cup if they finish in that position.
Rangers International top the table with 60 points also from 33 games while Shooting Stars are fourth with 53 points. There are four rounds of fixtures remaining in the 2023/2024 NPFL season.
Ogunmodede reiterates that his team cannot afford to drop any points at this stage of the season beginning with their crucial home match against Kano Pillars on Saturday, June 1 at Remo Stars Stadium Ikenne, adding that Sky Blue Stars’ plan is to win their remaining games to stay in contention for the title.

“We know how important our match with Kano Pillars is and we cannot afford to toy with it. Any points dropped at this stage means we are out of the race. Nevertheless, we are condemned to pick the maximum points to remain in contention for the title”, Ogunmodede told Completesports.com.
Also speaking on the match, Remo Stars’ right-back, Sodiq Ismaila, who was recently invited by Super Eagles Head Coach Finidi George for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying games says he and his teammates are geared towards ending the season on a good note, assuring that the Sky Blue Stars will give everything to win the 2023/2024 NPFL title.
“We have to approach Kano Pillars match with caution on Saturday. It is a must win game for us. We must beat Kano Pillars and continue fighting for the top spot,” Sodiq stated.
