Uche Sabastine put Akwa United ahead after six minutes.
The hosts maintained their lead for the remainder of the first half.
Samuel Anakwe restored parity for Remo Stars on 74 minutes, while Olamilekan Adedayo scored the winning goal for the visitors five minutes from time.

In Jos, Rivers United faltered in the title race going down 2-1 defeat against Plateau United.
Plateau United took the lead through Olawale Doyeni in the 21st minute, while Ndifreke Effiong equalised for the visitors three minutes before the break.
Emmanuel Ihezuo fired home the winning goal for the home team deep into stoppage time.
At the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, John Bassey netted the winning goal as Heartland beat Lobi Stars 1-0.
