Heartland goalkeeper, Kelvin Ogunga, has expressed delight following his debut performance for the Naze Millionaires in their goalless draw against Lobi Stars during a matchday 19 encounter at the Lafia City Stadium over the weekend, Completesports.com reports.
Ogunga, who joined the five-time NPFL champions from Bayelsa United ahead of the 2024/2025 season, showcased exceptional skills to secure a clean sheet in his first outing for the club.
Technical Manager, Emmanuel Amuneke, entrusted Ogunga with the starting role in the highly anticipated fixture, and the young goalkeeper rose to the occasion with a series of outstanding saves.

Reflecting on his performance, Ogunga attributed his courage and confidence to divine intervention.
“Definitely, the inspiration is from God because, ordinarily, I wouldn’t believe I could make such saves, especially as this was my first competitive match for Heartland this season,” Ogunga remarked.
Although the match against Lobi Stars marked his debut for Heartland, Ogunga highlighted his prior experience in top-flight football during his stint with Bayelsa United.
“I had been playing for my former club, Bayelsa United, before I moved to Heartland. I just have to thank God because everything went well for me in my first game for this club,” he said.
When asked if he felt nervous about starting, Ogunga dismissed any fears, asserting his confidence in his abilities.

“I know how to do the work of goalkeeping. Whenever I’m given the opportunity, I believe in myself and my faith in God to deliver. On this occasion, I did my best, by the grace of God,” he stated.
Looking ahead to the second-leg fixture against Lobi Stars in Owerri, Ogunga urged his teammates to focus on securing all three points.
“I want to encourage my teammates to put in more effort because Lobi Stars will come to our home for the return leg. It’s crucial that we take the maximum three points. There’s no room for compromise.
“The three points are non-negotiable in Owerri,” Ogunga concluded with determination and optimism.
