Returnee Godwin Obaje has made a golden promise to Rangers International, vowing to continue scoring goals for the Coal City Flying Antelopes in the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Completesports.com reports.
On Sunday, 3 November 2024, Obaje scored a brace, leading Rangers to a 2-0 victory over Nasarawa United at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, in a Matchday 10 fixture.
It was Obaje’s first game for Rangers this season following his return from Oman barely a month ago.
The former FC Ifeanyi Ubah forward expressed joy after the thrilling contest, celebrating his two-goal achievement in his first game back with the club, especially as his goals secured all three points for Rangers.

“I’m very happy about the game today, being the scorer of the goals that gave us, Rangers, victory. I’m even more delighted to have scored twice in my first game for Rangers,” Obaje said.
“So I’m very, very happy, and I pray to continue doing more for the team,” the 28-year-old added.
Obaje rejoined the NPFL title holders with a wealth of experience after career spells with Wikki Tourists, Trecin FC (Slovakia), Jeunesse Sportive Kairouanaise (Tunisia), Plateau United, and Abia Warriors.
He went on to encourage fans and supporters of the seven-time champions to expect more from him as they face one of his former clubs, Plateau United, in the Matchday 11 fixture on 10 November.
He added, “They should expect more from me because the team is taking shape little by little. As our next away game happens to be against Plateau United, we’ll approach it with the utmost hope of taking something from it. Don’t forget, I once played for Plateau United.”

The 2016 NPFL top scorer, with 18 goals, also reflected on the match against Nasarawa United, describing them as a “very good” side.
“Nasarawa United is a very good side. They have a tactical plan, but in the second half, we changed our formation, and that really helped us,” Obaje summed up.
Rangers now sit 5th in the NPFL standings with 15 points after 10 rounds of matches. They will travel to face Plateau United in this weekend’s Matchday 11 fixture. Nasarawa United, with 12 points, are now 14th in the standings and will host Kwara United in a North Central Derby.
