Heartland’s new signing, John Bassey, has exclusively told Completesports.com that he is happy after scoring in his debut match for the Naze Millionaires against Lobi Stars in Sunday’s NPFL matchday 20 clash at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.
The forward joined Heartland from Bayelsa United during the January transfer window and made an immediate impact. He scored the decisive goal in the 58th minute, heading in the solitary strike that secured all three points for his team.
The goal sent the Dan Anyiam Stadium fans into ecstasy, with Bassey declaring on Monday that scoring the only goal in his debut match was a special moment.

“I’m happy, I must tell you. To have scored in my very first match, and for it to be the winning goal for my club, makes me feel really happy,” Bassey told Completesports.com.
Bassey expressed confidence that the goal would pave the way for more success for the five-time league champions and 2009 CAF Champions League finalists.
“Yeah, I believe the goal I scored on Sunday will be a sign of good things to come in subsequent games,” he added.
Heartland are now 11th on the NPFL standings after 20 rounds of matches and will face Enyimba in Aba in Thursday’s matchday 21 fixture.
