Rivers United maintained their unbeaten streak in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following a 2-0 win against Shooting Stars at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt on Thursday.
Aniekeme Okon opened scoring for Rivers United on 51 minutes, while Ndifreke Effiong doubled the advantage 14 minutes later.
Rivers United also returned to the summit having amassed 17 points from seven games.
At the New Jos Stadium, Remo Stars were handed a 3-1 defeat by Plateau United.
Ebuka Anthony gave Plateau United the lead as early as the fourth minute, while Abubakar Adamu added the second four minutes after the hour mark.
Anthony scored his second of the game 19 minutes from time.

Jabar Malik reduced the deficit for Remo Stars seven minutes from time.
Katsina United defeated Akwa United 1-0 through Azeez Falolu’s 27th minute strike.
At the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, Ikorodu City picked their first point on the road, after they were held to a 1-1 draw Heartland.
The visitors went in front courtesy of Salau Yusuf’s fifth minute strike.
Chukwuma Agor equalised for Heartland on 66 minutes.
