Rivers United head coach Finidi George claimed his side deserved to beat Niger Tornadoes in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday eight encounter.
The Port Harcourt club extended their unbeaten streak after a 1-0 victory at the Bako Kontagaro Memorial Stadium, Minna on Monday.
Seiyefa Jackson scored the winning goal for the visitors in the second half.
“It was a well-deserved victory, and my goalkeeper made one last brilliant save that would have been an equaliser for them,” Finidi stated in a post-match interview.

“It was a difficult game. We knew from the onset that it was going to be a difficult game.
“We played to our best. The players gave it their all. I must commend the players for their efforts.”
Rivers United returned to the summit following the hard-earned win.
The Pride of Rivers will host El-kanemi Warriors in their next game on Sunday.
