Jacob Ogunleye gave Akwa United the lead in the 26th minute, while Issah Mohammed equalised for Enyimba six minutes before the break.
Uche Sabastine scored the winning goal for Akwa United 15 minutes from time.
At the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, Rivers United recorded a slim 1-0 win over Lobi Stars.
Timothy Zechariah netted the decisive goal two minutes from time.

Former champions Plateau United held Niger Tornadoes to a 1-1 draw at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.
Tornadoes went in front through Papa Daniel one minute before the hour mark, while Samuel Kalu equalised for the visitors two minutes from time.
Holders Rangers were held to a 0-0 draw by Bayelsa United in Yenagoa.
In Umuahia, Abia Warriors thrashed Sunshine Stars 3-0.
