Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has revealed the main reason behind his decision to start Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi in Saturday’s 1-0 win against Liverpool.
Awoniyi scored the winning goal on 55 minutes as Forest recorded their first win in the Premier League since August.
The Nigeria international reacted quickest inside the box after his initial shot was saved and tucked the ball inside the net.

The 25- year-old made history as the first Nottingham Forest player to score in each of his first three Premier League starts at the City Ground.
Cooper later explained why Awoniyi got the nod ahead of Brennan Johnson and compatriot, Emmanuel Dennis.
T worked so hard. We played him today we thought he could be a handful for Virgil van Dijk. He really proved to be that and deserved his goal,’ said Cooper.
“If he didn’t celebrate, I’ll support whatever a player decides to do. Liverpool loads of the ball and territory, we had some good chances as well.’

You will soon be sacked. Most English coaches lack flexibility and innovation..That’s why foreign Coaches are dominating the league. Imagine the reason for playing your best striker; so he could face the league’s best defender. Isn’t that strangely laughable? Who keeps their best weapon against only the best?? If you trust the boy to perform against LIVERPOOL and VIRGIL, what stops you from unleashing him against MOI MOI defenders in the league?
Finally, who told him that EMMANUEL DENNIS is a STRIKER that he will be alternating him with AWONIYI???
Very ONE WAY TRAFFIC COACHES…the current ENGLISH Coaches
He’s not getting sacked anytime soon. In fact he just got rewarded with a new contract amidst their struggles, signalling that the ownership group is willing to give him time to blend this team that was hurriedly put together with all the new signings this season
